Triumph Of My Cheating Husband

Chapter 51

Ch. 51 / 196 Sep 18, 2024

Ciara sat in her office, patiently waiting on her Secretary, Sheila's arrival. She checked her time for the umpteenth times, it's only ten minutes left until Sheila's arrival. Ciara had all the day to herself, it's only half an hour before dusk and Gerald had taken Herzl out as usual, It's only until after dusk before they returned.

She had promised to come pick him up from school, but it skipped her memory -or maybe she couldn't, due to lots on her desk; she had asked Gerald to make it up to Herzl on her behalf.

Instead of staying idle, Ciara decided to keep herself busy with the newspaper one of her staff had left for her earlier that morning. Since the past few months, Ciara had preferred reading the newspaper articles than listening to digital news or checking them up on her mobile.

Several minutes had passed and the soft few taps on the door snapped Ciara out of her reading state as she raised her head, fixating her gaze on the door.

"Come in..." She lazily answered, her gaze still at the door. The door was creaked open slowly, and a feminine figure entered. Ciara guessed was right-it was Sheila, she checked her time, and it was perfect as predicted, it's only a few seconds past ten minutes.

"Good evening, ma'am." Sheila greeted slowly, a small smile creeping up her lips.

Ciara nodded in acknowledge, reciprocating the smile. "Do have your seat, Sheila." She offered and with a gesture too, Sheila did as offered after a slight nod.

She could see the tiredness in Sheila's eyes, but she was trying to conceal it with her smile. Ciara could tell how much tired she must have been after her flight, which lasted for a couple of hours.

Sheila, as Ciara's secretary and personal assistant, she had gone for one of their company's numerous international meetings on Ciara's behalf and as well as a business trip. She had been away for the last few weeks and had returned that day, her flight coming to an end that evening.

Ciara, as she always did, was supposed to be the one to meet Sheila at the airport, but instead, she sent Milan on her behalf since she did not feel like leaving the office at that moment.

"I can see how worn out you look, Sheila." Ciara muttered audibly, but her tone was as well laced with concern for Sheila rather than the usual authority that was always clouded to her voice.

Sheila shook her head in denial as she brightens up her almost fading smile

"Not really, I am only-"

Ciara interrupted as she cut Sheila off abruptly, giving her no chance to complete her sentence. "I apologize for asking for your presence instead of giving you the chance to go home and rest." She said to her.

"Well, it's nothing, ma'am." Sheila replied almost immediately. "Since it's business related, I shouldn't be having issues with it, and I see no reason for you to be apologizing. Ma'am."

Ciara was pleased with sheila choice of word, the smile on her face was enough evidence of it. Well, Sheila has always been that day ever since Ciara got to know her -always work conscious and shows no tiredness even when she got the chance to.

Ciara had first kicked against it when Dwayne had asked her to allow Sheila keep her post as Ciara's personal assistant even though she was the company's secretary.

As at then, Ciara sees no reason why Sheila would be holding two positions at the same time but after a few months of working with Sheila, she realized Dwayne was right after all -Sheila was the best for the two positions anyway with no complications to it and this left Ciara with no other option to it.

And Sheila, on the other hand too, had enjoyed working with Ciara -her first impression about Ciara was right when she was said to be their new boss after the tragic death of their previous boss, Mr. Fellers.

Sheila had worked for Dwayne too, but it was only for a brief moment, it didn't last more than half a year, but she could tell he was good at it too; she felt like it runs in the Fellers' gene -being a work genius and better bosses than the previous one.

Ciara nodded curtly. "Well -yeah, true but still..." She simply cited. "So, how was the business trip and the meetings too? I should have asked this earlier." "I think this is far better than the previous ones I do attend." Sheila said sincerely, Ciara could tell she was not trying to sugarcoat things. "The meeting had finished earlier today, but I decided to return today, feeling there was much on the desk rather than staying behind."

Ciara loved that she was considerate, too. "That's really thoughtful of you, you are just the right deal I needed, and you came just at the right time, Sheila." She uttered, sitting up properly.

"I'm glad to hear this, ma'am..." Sheila smiled, avoiding Ciara's gaze; she wasn't used to getting many compliments from the same person under a few minutes.

"I'll just go straight to the business instead, it'll be time-wasting to beat around the bush..." Ciara uttered airily.

Sheila adjusted on her seat. She has no idea on whatever her boss might want to discuss with her. Initially, Ciara would have briefed her on it on her way, but she insisted on letting her get to the office first. This was only enough to grow Sheila's interest to its peak.

Ciara cleared her throat. "I'm sure you will be able to do this properly this time, as you always do on the previous ones." She enunciated as she opened the drawer in her desk, searching through it, but her attention was still on Sheila. "A company is on the lookout for either shareholder or investor -or maybe both."

"You've been waiting for such an opportunity as this before, it's been months since we had one." Sheila uttered, more like she was making it sound as a reminder.

Ciara has sheer interest in company's buyout and being a shareholder too, this has made her business career grow far and wide in the period of three years -she realized she found pleasure in business than being a nurse, maybe because it'll only remind her daily on how she met with the Lerman's.

"I know, right." Ciara cited simply. "A second, please, I need to get the draft I made as a plan for this."

Sheila could only nod without a reply, patiently waiting on the mentioned draft.

"Ah, I think this is it." Ciara muffled out as she brought out a small board sheet from the drawing. She checked the content for a few seconds and nodded in satisfaction. "This is it."

Sheila collected the worksheet from Ciara as urged and went through the content. She was not surprised by what was on the sheet, in fact, it was what she had expected after Ciara had told her about the shareholder's stuff.

But the company's name was enough to let her crease her brow, and her facial expression was mixed with that of surprise as well. Not the same Ryan Lerman that has the wealth and fame in the business field.

-what was more surprising was Ciara's intention, is her boss really going to do this...?
