Triumph Of My Cheating Husband

Chapter 73

Ch. 73 / 196 Sep 18, 2024

Gerald seems to be losing his patience slowly and gradually as he's been sitting in the car for quite a couple of hours. Ferdinand didn't seem like he will be leaving anytime soon as he was continuously checking on his phone and dropping back in his pocket.

Gerald knew he was waiting for someone, and it will be no other person than Brandon. He did not need to guess, since the restaurant was their regular place of meeting, that's where they meet to eat and plan their next moves, and they leave after they are done with their hideous plan.

As he watched Ferdinand anxiously tapping his foot and drumming his fingers on the table before him, he couldn't help but wonder that something was wrong -truly, it was; if not, why would only Ferdinand be sitting for a very long time without his brother showing up?

A few minutes later, he watched as Ferdinand placed his phone to his ears and how his expression kept changing on the phone -from an angry face to a calm one and then to a rage. After then, he cut the call and pocketed his phone, seeing that Ferdinand was ready to leave, Gerald kicked the taxi's engine to life.

He drove right to the other side and stopped before Ferdinand just before he even got the chance to flag down another cab; this was Gerald's only but one chance for that evening, and he did not want to lose it to another cab driver.

Instead of his usual car, Gerald had preferred to use a taxi instead; he had bought this year's back for a situation like this, and it has really helped him quite numerous times, and he doesn't think it will fail him that moment. It's quite an ease to get someone in a situation like this without raising any suspicion, not even a bit!

Gerald winds down the driver's door's glass, poking his head out from the space it created between the door. "Where is your destination, sir?" He asked, his voice was smooth and plain, like that of a professional cab man.

Ferdinand was relieved at the sight of the taxi before him, he would have gotten angrier if he were to spend minutes on the roadside waiting to flag a cab down. "Seventh blocks, Everton Street." He replied to the taxi driver almost immediately, rushing his words. "I'm paying five dollars for the ride!"

Gerald could only shrug his shoulders, the pay wasn't his problem from the start -since he won't be needing whatever amount he would be paying anyway. "Come in, sir..."He answered, with a dark and smug expression on his face.

If only Ferdinand had noticed the driver's facial expression, he would have seen the dirty smirk on his face and wouldn't have boarded the taxi, but he was in a hurry to notice such as he entered through the passenger's seat.

Gerald checked through the rear mirror and was certain Ferdinand had entered, he locked all the taxi's doors, rolling its wheel back to the main road.

Ferdinand was still fuming due to what happened earlier before, he was and kept soliloquizing to himself, mumbling words under his breath that seemed difficult for Gerald to understand; no matter how much he strained his ears.

Gerald had thought hearing what he was mumbling would have been of help, this will give him the thoughts and ideas of whatever transpired in the restaurant between him and Brandon, but it was quite impossible since Ferdinand was being secretive with his words.

Gerald thought the best at the moment was starting a conversation with Ferdinand even though he's not much of a talker, he'll have to before they get to their destination; it's not really necessary, but he did not want to give eerie vibe at first. Gerald want Ferdinand to feel calm within himself before he will stir his whole system.

"Is there any problem, sir?" Gerald's voice was as calm as still as he tries to strike up a conversation with his passenger, Ferdinand, but he remains aloof and not wanting to give in too easily; he was too angry to think about having a conversation with anyone until the rest of the day runs out.

Gerald felt shunned by Ferdinand's silent treatment but did not react towards it, and in return, he did say no words in reply; he only clamped his mouth shut and focused his attention on the wheel he was handling.

*******

Several minutes have passed, and the atmosphere only got thicker with awkwardness, none of the two car's occupants said a word to each other as each decided to mind his personal affair.

Ferdinand stared out of the car and realized something was not right -no, it was far from right! The road the driver is taking doesn't seem familiar to the one that leads to his home, the taxi was taking another route he wasn't sure he was familiar with.

"Excuse me..."Ferdinand began, his voice starting to shake with fear even though he was trying hard to conceal it, but it still managed to reflect. "I think you are taking the wrong route, this doesn't lead to the same destination I'll be paying you for."

Gerald did not bother replying, instead, wined up each door glasses and pretended not to have heard Ferdinand speak. This reaction did not only stir up Ferdinand's whole system and send a cold shiver down his spine, he still managed to get angry.

"Listen here, young man!" Ferdinand called out with a mixed reaction of rage and fear. "Stop this nonsense you are doing right now!"

Still, no reply.

Fear gripped Ferdinand so hard as he tried the door handles, but they wouldn't budge, no matter how hard he tries. He turned to the driver and demanded to be let out, but Gerald just gave out dark laughter.

"Sorry, buddy, you're not going anywhere. You can shout all you want but no one would hear you, this is a sound proofed car under the disguise of a taxi." His voice was icily dark and Ferdinand felt a sinking feeling in his stomach as he realized he was in trouble.

"Who sent you?" Ferdinand fearfully asked. "I've never gotten on anyone's bad side to have them bear a deep grudge against me that would have led to this."

Gerald scoffs at his bluffs, he is suddenly claiming saint at the verge of utmost fear? Ah, -it is getting much interesting than he had thought it was supposed to, the gladness Gerald felt seeing Ferdinand jittering in fear was unexplainable.

It enveloped his whole system that he wished he would see something like this almost every day, he was enjoying the fear that was clouded in Ferdinand's eyes -the once upon a bad oldie turning vulnerable!

Ferdinand kept struggling with the door's lock, wobbling in fear. The taxi had gotten to its destination and Gerald slowed down to a stop, knowing it would be a ruckus to get Ferdinand to comply and dance to his tone, he opted for a different option to get him down.

Gerald brought out the neatly folder handkerchief from his pocket and without a warning or Ferdinand seeing it coming, he swiftly turned backward, stuffing it on his nostrils and blocking his breath with it. Slowly, Ferdinand's struggles reduced as his body went limp after several couples of seconds.

"Good! Rest a bit, old man, and then your pain starts when you wake up..."Gerald muttered under his breath with a sly smile that looks like evil on his face...
