Gloria smiled silently. She was right.
Gabrielle was not innocent at all. Gloria never bothered to explain herself to anyone. Gabrielle took advantage and lied to others repeatedly, letting others get Gloria wrong.
"Are you smiling? Gloria, what's so funny? Are you smiling, because Gabrielle is dead, and you get what you want? Gloria, you're so shameless! Why are you still smiling? Stop smiling!" Lanny was annoyed by the strange smile of the woman kneeling on the ground. Flames of anger shot through him.
Gloria raised her head and looked at Lanny while smiling, not making a sound at all. Her smile was utterly unsettling.
The smile on Gloria's face was hard to describe and gave people a chill.
Finally, Gloria opened her mouth. Her hoarse voice was harsh to everyone's ear. She said, "Lanny, thank you. I mean it."
She thought, 'You shatter my fantasies. Thanks to you, I am finally willing to face my deepest suspicions about Gabrielle.
I never did what you're accusing me of. Your anger is so real. What does that suggest?
It suggests that Gabrielle did tell you such a lie!
What happened back then was nothing but fishy. I didn't do anything. Yet in the end, the proof was all against me. What was the proof? It was the last text messages and calls she made before the accident.
I never doubted Gabrielle at that time.
I'm genuinely grateful to you, Lanny.'
However, for those present, Gloria's words were more like a provocation.
Enraged, Lanny grabbed Gloria by the hair and rudely shoved a bottle of wine in her face.
He said, "Alright then. If you are so grateful to me, drink up, and I will ask my friends to delete all the photos and videos on their phones right now. How about it? Sounds fair enough, right? Back then, you forced Gabrielle to drink a bottle of whiskey, and today, I'm returning the favor to you. I, Lanny, swear to you that I will never pick on you again from now on."
Lanny looked ferocious. He said angrily, "Yeah? How about it? Yes or no?"
Gloria looked down at the bottle of whiskey without saying a word.
Christine's mouth was covered. Her eyes were wide open. Though she tried, she couldn't utter a word.
"I didn't do it. And I won't drink," Gloria said slowly.
She could kneel, she could dive into the water container and risk her life, and she could sing till she strained her voice. She could do a million things, yet drinking wasn't one of them.
"I don't drink," she raised her head and said firmly. "The owner of Fittro Club promised me that I wouldn't have to drink."
"Gloria, do you still think of yourself as Miss Carter? Do you still think it's up to you? You are just a call girl now!" Lanny took out his phone and showed Gloria a video he had just taken. "Once I press this button, the video will go straight to my Twitter feed. Are you sure you won't drink up?"
Lanny said fiercely, "Gloria, you know the ones who are in my Twitter feed."
Gloria's heart contracted violently!
Christine looked as the woman kneeling on the ground slowly raised her hand and took the bottle of whiskey from Lanny.
Christine heard the woman say in a hoarse voice, "I'll drink."
With her eyes widened, Christine tried her best to reach Gloria, but the one holding her was way too strong.
Warren looked at Christine. He smiled frivolously and said, "Christine, sorry for what happened today. However, this is between us. Just stay out of it."
'No! It's not like this! You are gonna get her killed! Do you want Gloria dead?' Christine thought in despair.
Christine's phone rang in her pocket. She was stunned and regained strength all of a sudden. She turned her head and bashed into the person who was grabbing her. While the person staggered, Christine picked up the phone as fast as she could and shouted, "Boss! Help! We are on the sixth floor..."
A hand reached out and slapped Christine's phone away. Warren sneered and said, "Christine, was that the mysterious boss of Fittro Club? Good! We'll wait here today. I'm looking forward to meeting him. I wanna see what that fuck he can do to us!"
The call wasn't cut off. Patrick was on the other end of the line and looked indifferent.
Then he heard a voice coming through the phone.
"Lanny, let her drink! Let's enjoy the show while the once-proud Miss Carter from Silver Spring Pack gets humiliated!"
Patrick's hand suddenly tightened as he held the phone.
"Leonard, take someone to the sixth floor with you."
Patrick rushed towards the elevator. Leonard was stunned. He connected the others through the mind link at once and then quickly followed Patrick. "Alpha Patrick, what happened?"
In the elevator, Patrick didn't say a word. However, his hawk-like eyes gave him away.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, Patrick rushed out and pushed open the doors of the rooms one by one, looking for Gloria.
Leonard noticed that Patrick was very anxious, and was looking for someone.
In the room on the sixth floor, the atmosphere was very tense. Lanny fiddled with the phone in his hand and looked at Gloria. "Drink! What are you waiting for, Miss Carter? I'm ready to tweet now. I'm sure everyone will want to see you after they know you are released."
"Wait!" Gloria's face turned pale. She stopped Lanny and said, "I'll drink."
Gloria knew she was weak. The werewolves from the Silver Spring Pack had already abandoned her, but she didn't want to embarrass them.
Christine panicked. Gloria couldn't drink. If she did, it would be the same as risking her life!
Gloria glanced at Christine and smiled at her. The smile stunned Christine. She never knew Gloria was so beautiful when she smiled.
"Enough. I'm not asking you to kill yourself. You just need to drink up. There's no need to be so dramatic," Warren said sarcastically.
Gloria smiled. She placed the bottle next to her mouth and raised her head. Then she said to Mica in her heart, "If I live, I will continue to repay your kindness. If I die, don't blame me for being useless. I tried."
