Trapped by Him

Chapter 117

Ch. 115 / 398 Feb 22, 2026

"Gloria, you don't need to do anything. Just stay there, and I'll come to you and hug you. Leave everything to me. If you don't give it a try, how can you taste the feeling of happiness? I won't make you sad or let you cry again."

Derrick promised her and he almost convinced Gloria.

Meanwhile, Patrick's voice echoed in her mind.

"Gloria, do you think the current you deserve happiness?"

Patrick's and Derrick's words kept repeating in Gloria's mind, and she had a headache.

She roared inwardly, 'Happiness? Do I deserve it? I am a wretch! Mica died because of me! However, I am going to get the kind of happiness that everyone desires.

Absurd!

If Mica had not died because of me, she would have lived a happy life.'

Pain, regret, self-denial, self-loathing... emotions overwhelmed her.

Gloria was almost out of control. She couldn't distinguish the difference between her and Mica's happiness.

She thought subconsciously that she was living for Mica to redeem herself. Because Mica had died for her.

Derrick still tried to persuade her.

Gloria pushed him away and covered her ears. "Shut up! I don't need the so-called happiness!"

She roared at Derrick madly. Derrick was caught off guard. He staggered and didn't expect her to push him so hard.

Gloria limped away.

She was desperate to run away from Derrick.

Derrick ran after her immediately.

"Gloria, what are you afraid of?" Derrick shouted.

Just as Derrick was approaching Gloria, the sky suddenly turned stormy.

"Gloria, stop. You can't run away from me," Derrick shouted from behind. As he was approaching her, Gloria got anxious and turned around. "I said I don't need happiness!"

"Gloria! Watch out!"

Before Gloria could finish her words, she saw Derrick's terrified look.

She didn't realize what was going on, and then she heard a cracking sound. She didn't have time to react and fell to the ground.

With a screech of break, the driver poked his head and cursed, "Are you crazy? You could have died!"

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," Gloria apologized hurriedly. She felt lucky that the driver stopped the car in time, so she wasn't badly injured.

"You've got to compensate me for the shock!" said the driver.

"You almost hit her! Maybe I should call the police!" Derrick looked at the driver coldly.

Derrick's fierce expression scared the driver. He cursed, "She is your wife, right? Then, don't fight on the road if you don't want to get yourself killed!"

After that, the man drove away.

Derrick knew that it was not the driver's fault, so he did not go after him. He walked forward to check on Gloria. She was fine, but there were bruises on her.

He said, "Gloria, don't get up. I'll carry you to the hospital."

"Don't come over!" Gloria sat on the ground, and her expression turned calm.

In the heavy rain, sitting on the muddy ground, she looked up at Derrick, and said with a hoarse voice, "Mr. Fisher, I don't need happiness or redemption. My life is fine now. Please don't disturb me again."

The beam of light in the darkness was not redemption. Instead, it was a mistake and sin.

Derrick's face changed. He ignored Gloria's words and walked toward her.

Gloria shouted in panic, "Stop!

"Mr. Fisher, do you know who I am?" She chuckled and continued, "Do you have money? If you do, you can do whatever you want to me. I only care about money. If you pay me, I won't let you down. I'll be waiting for you at Fittro Club."

Derrick looked at Gloria in shock. She struggled up from the ground and then limped away in the rain.

Her words echoed in his mind. Lillian had told him that Gloria was willing to do anything for money.

At that time, he didn't believe it. He knew Gloria was in a dilemma.

He confessed to her today, yet he never thought that she would choose money over his love.

Derrick wouldn't blame Gloria for it. After all, everyone loved money.

He was just a little disappointed at the choice that Gloria had made.

It was the first time that Derrick had been serious about a girl. However, between his love and money, Gloria seemed to favor the latter more.

Derrick stood there in a daze. Suddenly, he wanted to chase after Gloria, but she was long gone.

He reached out and knocked on his head. He thought regretfully, 'I am so stupid! If she really cares about money, why doesn't she accept me? Wining my heart means getting money! But she refused me again and again.'

Then, Derrick was puzzled. 'Why did she say so? Is it because of Patrick?'

Derrick knew he was right. With a confident look on his face, he said, "Alpha Patrick, sooner or later, Gloria will accept me."

Gloria ran away from Derrick and returned to her dormitory. As soon as she entered the room, she closed the door, as if there was a beast chasing after her.

Her clothes were torn when she fell just now. Fortunately, the driver stepped on the brake in time, so she was not seriously injured from the fall. Only her palm was scraped.

Gloria cleaned the wounds on her palm. She picked up the phone and hesitated for a moment, then, she called Christine.

She said, "I need to take a day off today."

Christine was surprised. She took the phone away from her ear and checked the incoming number. She was sure that it was Gloria. Then, she asked, "What happened?"
