Christine did not need Gloria to tell her about her past. She already figured out from the recent events that Gloria and Patrick had a history.
Although Christine joined the Black Thorn Pack only two years ago, she had heard of Gabrielle's name repeatedly.
She heard that Gabrielle was Damon's younger sister, the woman that Patrick fell for.
Patrick rejected his mate Gloria for Gabrielle.
However, one day, Gabrielle was killed by rogues, which not only infuriated Patrick, but also depressed Damon.
Christine never got it. The Black Thorn Pack's Gamma did a good job protecting the pack, and the pack was safe. How could Gabrielle end up killed by rogues?
She understood today, but she did not believe it.
Because she knew Gloria. Gloria was a proud person and would never do such a thing.
Christine raised her hand and stroked Gloria's head. She didn't ask Gloria why she didn't explain to Patrick and to prove her innocence.
Only those who had been through the same experience could understand what it felt like to be untrusted by the ones they loved. The sadness and helplessness could crush them.
She had experienced such things herself, so she understood why Gloria did not explain herself. Gloria may have tried before, but no one believed her or even listened to her.
"What are your plans?" Christine asked.
"Wait until he gets tired of me," Gloria replied calmly.
Christine thought about it and said, "You know what. I keep all the money and checks you gave me in the safe. I didn't transfer the money directly to that card. I was expecting a miracle. I thought that maybe you could have a million dollars today, and through the people I know from the bank, I could transfer the rest of the money into the card at the last moment. I didn't expect any of this to happen."
Christine sounded regretful. She continued, "Gloria, there's not much I can do for you. However, Mr. Hammond didn't ask about the money, and I'm not transferring it to that card. I'll bring you the money and the checks later. Put them somewhere safe and take them with you when you can leave. Don't blame me for not helping you escape. I may be Fittro Club's general manager, but I am just a member of the Black Thorn Pack with no rank."
Gloria was very grateful. She said, "I know you're already risking your neck for me."
She wanted to say "thank you" to Christine, but she felt that wouldn't be enough. Instead, she hugged Christine.
Christine's words brought her hope.
"Alright, I'll get going now." Christine patted Gloria on the back and left the ward.
Meanwhile, after Patrick left the hospital, he didn't return to his villa. Instead, he went straight to his office in the Black Thorn Pack.
After Patrick answered a few calls, he received a call from the current Alpha of the Walter Pack. It was Warren's father, Daley Middleton.
"Alpha Patrick, I heard Warren had a bit of an accident at Fittro Club," Daley said. "Warren has always been headstrong, and I have my concerns about letting him take over the Walter Pack. And now he's in trouble anyway. Your father and I have always been on good terms, but don't hesitate to teach Warren a lesson this time. Don't let him off simply because of our relationship with the Black Thorn Pack. I hope Warren learns his lesson."
Before Daley's call, Patrick received several calls from the Alphas of other packs.
Most of them asked for Patrick's forgiveness. Only Daley asked Patrick to teach Warren a lesson.
Though Daley told Patrick to teach Warren a lesson, he also repeatedly mentioned his relationship with Patrick's father, as well as the relationship between the Walter Pack and the Black Thorn Pack.
Patrick understood what Daley meant by this.
However, Patrick wasn't in a good mood right now, and he didn't take Walter Pack seriously in the first place.
Patrick looked at the darkness outside. He narrowed his eyes and said slowly, "Alpha Daley, I'll do as you wish. So, just leave Warren to me. I will teach him how to behave so that he will not mess with the wrong ones in the future or get himself into big trouble. It's late, Alpha Daley. Good night."
Patrick then pressed the button with his slender finger.
Daley was so angry that he almost smashed the phone. He said angrily, "Alpha Patrick doesn't take us seriously!"
He then looked at his Beta and said, "Alpha Patrick is so arrogant. The Walter Pack isn't as powerful as the Black Thorn Pack, but we are still a reputable pack in Gabbs. How dare he treat me like this!"
The Beta of the Walter Pack was also angry, but he didn't want to irritate Daley more, so he said, "Alpha Daley, I'm furious too. Lanny is my son, and Alpha Patrick broke his arm. However, we are no match for the Black Thorn Pack yet."
The Beta of the Walter Pack was well aware of Daley's character. Of course, he wanted Daley to avenge Lanny, his son, but he also knew that fighting the Black Thorn Pack would destroy the Walter Pack.
