Trapped by Him

Chapter 128

Ch. 126 / 398 Feb 22, 2026

The smile on Derrick's face froze. He was reluctant to yield. He said, "Mr. Hammond, you kept emphasizing that you don't want some things any longer. But why do I feel that you are just jealous because you never really owned those things?"

Patrick's eyes turned cold. He looked at Derrick's face and said, "It's none of your business, Mr. Fisher. You'd better care more about yourself."

After he said that, he walked past Derrick and left.

The atmosphere between the two men was tense, but they kept their voices low, so other people could not hear what they were talking about. They only saw two equally outstanding men talking to each other.

Patrick walked past Derrick and walked in. Only he knew how angry he was at the moment.

Would he fall in love with Gloria? And would he be jealous of Gloria and Derrick?

Patrick thought, 'Even an ordinary man wouldn't fall for Gloria, not to mention an outstanding man like me.'

Patrick shouted in his heart, 'I won't fall in love with a woman like her! Back then, I rejected her!'

Leo replied in a mocking tone, "Patrick, don't be so stubborn. Otherwise, why would you target Black Moon Pack?"

Patrick walked into the bathroom and stared at himself in the mirror.

He refuted Leo in his mind. "No! I will never fall in love with such an ugly woman! I targeted Blood Moon Pack because I don't like Derrick. Since he touched my things, I must teach him a lesson. That's all."

Derrick left the banquet before it ended.

Derrick returned home and worked for a while. He picked up a cup of coffee and took a few sips. Then, he got busy again.

Patrick was right. If Derrick dared to slack off, he would not be able to deal with Patrick's attacks.

Only at this moment did Derrick feel a sense of powerlessness. He and Patrick had always been competing with each other, but Derrick never won.

After the fight between Derrick and Patrick began, Derrick found that Patrick was born for business. Patrick had enough means and capital. He was a business genius.

"I had never won before when I was young. I can't lose this time," Derrick said to himself.

The next day, when Gloria went out, she saw Derrick again.

There was a hint of surprise in her eyes. "Mr. Fisher."

It had been a while since he had appeared in front of her.

"Let's go. Are you hungry?" Derrick walked forward and extended his hand toward Gloria. He held her hand, but she wanted to avoid him. Suddenly, Derrick raised his head and said, "You know, you will never be as strong as me."

Gloria raised her head in silence. She looked at Derrick and sat in the car.

They kept silent all the way.

Derrick didn't feel like talking today. He was totally different from what he used to be when he faced Gloria.

Along the way, Gloria secretly glanced at Derrick from time to time.

Gloria thought she guessed correctly. Derrick looked tired and had dark circles, though he tried to look refreshed.

They got out of the car. Then Gloria followed Derrick into Carl's restaurant as before.

During the meal, Derrick's phone kept ringing. And he received text messages from time to time.

Gloria weighed it in her heart. She wanted to say goodbye to Derrick when she finished eating.

The phone that Derrick placed on the table rang again.

This time, it wasn't a text message. Derrick picked up the phone from the table and stood up. He walked out and said to Gloria, "Wait a minute, I need to answer this call."

Gloria looked outside the door. It seemed that Derrick was losing his temper, and he kept walking back and forth.

Doubt appeared in Gloria's heart. When Derrick came back, she saw anger and anxiety in his eyes.

Gloria asked, "Mr. Fisher, what happened recently?"

Derrick did not expect that Gloria would ask this since Gloria was usually silent.

He asked, "Why do you ask?"

"I just feel that you seem to have something on your mind recently." After speaking, Gloria regretted it a little.

She shouldn't ask whether Derrick had anything on his mind or whether something had happened to him recently. It was none of her business.

However, Derrick was happy. He looked at Gloria, who lowered her head and refused to speak. He felt sweet in his heart. Was she concerned about him?

"It's fine." There was a hint of gentleness in his eyes. He said, "It's something about business. Gloria, don't worry. I can handle it."

Gloria thought, 'Since it's not something serious, then I should talk to him openly today. It's about time.' She said, "Actually, I want to tell you..."

Gloria wanted to tell Derrick about her past, but before she could finish her words, she was interrupted by Derrick's phone call.

Gloria felt that Derrick suddenly got angry. He said, "'Gloria, I'll take you home first. I have an urgent meeting to attend now."

Derrick didn't pick up the phone. He grabbed Gloria's arm and hurried to his car.

When he got in the car, Derrick finally remembered that Gloria seemed to have something to say just now. He quickly asked, "What did you want to say just now? Anything you want to tell me?"

"I..." Gloria hesitated for a moment but chose not to say it now. She had to tell him about this sooner or later, so she wasn't in a hurry. But Derrick seemed to be in a hurry now. As she thought like this, she changed the subject, "Nothing important. I will tell you when you are less busy, Mr. Fisher."

Derrick thought that Gloria had started to care about him.

No matter what role Patrick had played in Gloria's life before, Derrick believed that she would be used to his company as long as he stayed with her for long enough. The past should be left behind and become nothing but old memories.

If Gloria knew that Derrick was thinking this way, she would tell him what she had to say no matter what.
