After Derrick finished speaking, he turned a corner on his motorcycle, and they stopped in front of a wall of roses. He got off the motorcycle nimbly and said to Gloria, "We are here. This is the back door. Normally, I go by the front door."
His words made Gloria reluctant to get off the motorcycle.
Derrick raised his eyebrows and looked at her childish behavior. "Get off. Staying on the motorcycle won't change anything."
"No!" She blinked and grabbed the seat under her butt firmly.
"Are you sure?" Derrick asked.
"I'm not hungry," Gloria said.
"But I am," Derrick said.
"Then you should go in yourself. I can go back on my own," she immediately said.
"Gloria, you have two choices. You may get off yourself and get in to eat with me, or I will carry you off the motorcycle and carry you in to eat," Derrick offered her two options.
Gloria pulled a long face. She didn't want to go inside. She thought, 'Derrick comes here all the time, and it's probably frequented by a lot of werewolves. This is the last place I want to be. What if I run into someone I know?
I don't want to face them. Can't I?'
"If you are hungry, why don't we go to Carl's shop for his okra stew?" Gloria suggested. Worrying that Derrick might not agree, she reluctantly added, "My treat."
Derrick turned his face to the side and could barely hold back his smile. Therefore, he tilted his head aside and smiled secretly. Then he turned back and asked deliberately, holding Gloria in suspense, "Really? Your treat? Is that all you are offering me?"
Gloria was unhappy.
"Forget it if you don't want to." Gloria immediately got off the motorcycle, turned around, and walked out. Suddenly, someone grabbed her arm from behind.
Derrick said, "Who said I don't want it? Okra stew is delicious. It's my favorite. Let's go to Carl's now."
Derrick stretched out his hand and pulled her back at once. He pushed her back to the back seat and said, "Keep your word. You said it's your treat."
Derrick got on his motorcycle again and took Gloria to the Blood Moon Pack.
They were on the same road before, only the last time Derrick was driving a car, while today, they were on a motorcycle.
Therefore, this time, Gloria got to enjoy the scenery along the way. She looked at the rows of wild roses while Derrick's motorcycle passed by the flower walls, and the wind blew.
The hair on Gloria's forehead was blown up by the wind, revealing the hideous scar underneath. As she sat on the back seat of the motorcycle, her mind was a mess.
She raised her head abruptly and looked at his back in front of her. She was a little puzzled and thought, 'Isn't he the one who drags me out to eat? How come I become the one paying for the meal?'
"Mr. Fisher?" Gloria wanted to know what was going on.
"Sit tight," Derrick interrupted her. He said with a serious tone, "Grab me tight!"
As he said so, Gloria instinctively did as he said.
Gloria did not think too much. She reached out and held onto Derrick's firm waist.
However, after a while, nothing happened.
"What happened?" Gloria could not help but ask.
"Oh. Someone left a bottle on the road. Fortunately, I saw it in time. I was worried that you might fall off the bike if you didn't hold me tight," Derrick said.
"I see. Thank you, Mr. Fisher," Gloria had to thank him.
"It's nothing. Don't mention it," Derrick said briskly.
Though he sounded casual, he smiled secretly.
They arrived at Carl's diner and had some okra stew together.
Gloria thought she could go back after lunch, but Derrick didn't think so.
Gloria said helplessly, "Mr. Fisher, we had lunch already, can you stop following me? Mr. Fisher, I've told you that you are welcome to the Fittro Club. I won't let you down. You can do whatever you want if you pay me."
The corners of Derrick's mouth curled into a devilish smile, and he said, "Really? Anything?"
"That's right. You are rich, and you can always come to Fittro Club with your money. You are our customer, and for us, customers always come first," Gloria replied.
Derrick glanced at Gloria meaningfully and said, "Remember what you've said. See you tonight."
After he finished speaking, he got on his motorcycle and left.
Gloria was confused. She didn't know what Derrick was thinking. Anyway, she was relieved, since he was gone.
Gloria warily glanced around at the people who were looking at her.
"Hey there. Is that handsome young man your brother?" a middle-aged woman ran over and asked.
"No," Gloria replied.
"Then, is he your colleague?" Gloria shook her head again.
"Anyway, I have a niece who just graduated this year. She is single. Can you introduce him to my niece?" the middle-aged woman asked enthusiastically.
Gloria was a little helpless. She thought, 'I can't tell her that I'm a call girl at Fittro Club and that Derrick is my guest, can I?'
"Barbara, stop it. How can you ask her something like that? What if he is her boyfriend? You are being rude!" another middle-aged woman interrupted.
"How is that possible? The man looks so handsome and eye-catching. He and she..." Barbara hesitated for a moment. Then she smiled and said, "I'm not saying that you're not a match. It's just that you don't strike me as a couple. You won't mind me saying so, right?"
Gloria looked a little embarrassed. She didn't want to chat with the woman in front of her anymore, so she quickly went upstairs.
She could still hear them talking behind her.
"Barbara, how could you say that? Your words are so harsh."
"You know I'm a blunt person. He is way out of her league. Besides, I live next door to her. Let me tell you something. She always comes back in the middle of the night. Who knows what she does for a living?"
Gloria quickened her pace.
