Patrick opened the door, got into the car, and drove off without Hank. Hank immediately got in another car and went after Patrick's car.
Patrick was driving so fast that Hank could only follow him from a far distance.
Hank watched as Patrick braked abruptly and walked into a building.
"Miss Carter, here is your new driver's license."
"Thank you." Before Gloria could finish her words, someone suddenly snatched the driver's license from the service staff.
Gloria turned around and was about to say something, but when she saw the man's face, her pale lips trembled. "Why are you here?"
"Are you trying to run away from me?" Patrick's face was as cold as ice.
"No, I'm not," Gloria denied in fear.
"No?" Patrick shook the driver's license in his hand. "Then what is this for? Explain it to me."
Patrick was furious. He kept Gloria's license, and now she came here to get a new one, which could only mean that she wanted to get away from him.
Gloria was speechless. What could she say? Patrick was not a fool!
"Gloria, well played. You have been pretending to be obedient all this time till I let down my guard. And then when I'm no longer wary of you, you come here and get a new driver's license for yourself," snapped Patrick.
Gloria bit her lower lip, trembling in fear. She thought, 'Did I fail after all?'
"Give me back my driver's license," Gloria said with a pale face. "Patrick, give it back to me!"
Patrick sneered.
"Patrick, if you don't give it back, I'll call the police!" Gloria pretended to be calm.
Patrick was consumed by rage, and he could hardly remain rational. Right now, there was only one question on his mind, 'How dare Gloria run away from me?'
"Call the police?" Patrick's smile was nowhere to be found in his eyes. There was suppressed madness in his voice as he said, "Sure. Go ahead."
Gloria was so anxious that she shouted, "Help! He took my license!"
"Sir," people around were about to say something but were interrupted right away.
Patrick reached out, pulled Gloria into his arms, looked at her, and said, "She is my wife. We just had a fight. She's just mad at me."
"I'm not his wife. Don't listen to him. I don't know this man!" Gloria said to people around her. However, she called Patrick's name at the very beginning, and therefore everyone believed Patrick.
No one believed her, just like before. Gloria felt as if her heart was soaked in cold water.
Patrick straightened up and took her arm in one hand. His voice was cold and deep. "Come with me."
He pulled her towards the car quickly.
"Let go, Patrick! You are hurting me!" Gloria leaned back, trying to slow him down with her weight. She never gave up on getting away from him.
Her struggle was ridiculously insignificant in Patrick's eyes. He shoved her into the back seat and then he got in as well. Hank immediately ran forward and sat in the driver's seat.
Hank was sensible enough to raise a partition between the front and back seats.
Looking at the rising partition, Gloria was in a panic.
"Hank, put the partition down!" Gloria patted the partition.
It looked like Hank was in a dilemma. He turned to look at Gloria, only to see her contracted pupils and her pale face. She looked utterly pitiful.
Hank made up his mind. With resolution, he cast a wary glance at Patrick, who was in the back seat, emitting a dangerous aura all over. "Miss Carter," Hank said. "It's not up to me."
Before Hank finished his words, he saw Patrick pull Gloria back. The partition completely separated the space in the front and back seats.
Gloria huddled and was terrified. She didn't know what would happen to her next.
"Why did you get a new license without telling me?" Patrick's deep voice rang out in the narrow space. Gloria felt as if she was being questioned by the devil.
"It's very inconvenient that I don't have a driver's license, Mr. Hammond." Gloria knew how lame her lie was.
Cold sweat broke out on her forehead, and she was so nervous that her mind went blank.
"I want the truth," Patrick said calmly.
"I am telling the truth." Gloria was so nervous that she almost bit her tongue, but there was hope that she could muddle through.
"One," Patrick said.
Gloria looked up abruptly in disbelief at the man in front of her.
"I'm not lying to you." Her lips were deathly pale.
"Two."
"I'm telling the truth," she said. She was shaking all over.
In the next instant, her attempt to explain came to an abrupt end.
Because she saw his bleak, piercing gaze fall directly upon her face.
"I mean it. I didn't lie to you..." she stuttered.
Patrick interrupted her pitiful plea, "Try saying that again."
His eyes were so dark and cold that they could freeze Gloria. "Last chance, Gloria."
Under his cold gaze, she had nowhere to run.
"I just want my driver's license back," Gloria spoke slowly, her hoarse voice hiding the lump in her voice.
She bent her head and closed her eyes, concealing the bitterness within.
She wanted to say to him, "Patrick, I just want my driver's license back. It makes me feel that I'm still alive."
In the next second, Gloria was yanked by a sudden force, and she was pulled into Patrick's arms. Her chin was raised forcibly, and he leaned down, kissing her lips fiercely.
Gloria couldn't make a sound, while her eyes seemed to be saying, "Let go of me!"
She kept struggling, but all her movements were constrained by Patrick. She was nothing but a werewolf who had lost her wolf. How could she be a match for Alpha Patrick?
Gloria opened her mouth and bit, which was the only resistance she could muster.
Unfortunately, things didn't work out the way Gloria expected. She heard the sound of a crunching bone in her jaw and felt a sharp pain, reminding her of being bitten on the back of her waist.
Gloria gasped, feeling that her whole body was in pain. Yet she could only look at Patrick kissing her with great affection.
She felt that her heart was ripped open, and the blood in her body was about to freeze. She didn't get it. She thought, 'How does he do it? How does he manage to kiss me so lovingly and intently while dislocating my jaw?'
As she looked at the man in front of her, two lines of tears slowly rolled down her cheeks.
She thought self-mockingly, 'Now that my chin is dislocated, it makes me more of a puppet at his mercy.
Gloria, you are such a fool. It has only been three years, and you have already forgotten about Patrick's ruthlessness.'
