When Gloria heard what the fired receptionist said, she reached out and stopped the receptionist. She said, "I can guarantee that Moonlight Group is not just a shell company as you said."
Gloria turned around and saw an employee behind her. She was a young woman. Gloria called her to come over.
Gloria asked, "What is your job at the company?"
The girl was a little flustered. She replied, "I am an intern. Mostly, I'm just printing documents."
"Do you know how to deal with visiting clients?" Gloria asked.
"I'm sorry. I haven't done that before. But I think we should treat them politely and proactively," the intern replied cautiously.
Gloria nodded. "Very good. From now on, you are the receptionist of Moonlight Group."
Hearing Gloria's words, the receptionist who had been fired felt humiliated.
She pointed at Gloria and scolded, "How can you ask an intern to be the receptionist? I majored in administrative management! You must be out of your mind!"
Gloria snorted coldly and said, "You should think about why I chose an intern over you."
Leonard was shocked to see Gloria fire an employee so decisively.
He had never seen Gloria like this before.
It wasn't the end. At the end of the day, Gloria was exhausted, but she wouldn't show it.
In fact, the moment she stepped into the CEO's office, she was so close to fleeing away.
However, she knew that she shouldn't escape. She had to face it.
Whatever she suffered during those three years in werewolf prison, no matter whether her character had been distorted or not, she must face it today so that she could live up to the upbringing of the old Alpha, her grandfather.
What Gloria did not know was that Patrick did not leave.
After he drove the car away from the building, he came back from the other side. He parked his car downstairs.
Meanwhile, Gloria's voice sounded in the car. Everything Gloria said and did in the building was reaching Patrick's ears.
She was talking to the middle and senior management, who were from Silver Spring Pack and were still in the company.
Patrick listened to their conversation, and he could feel how determined and brave Gloria was when dealing with those scheming people. It made him realize that though she had been imprisoned for three years, her solid management skills kept her up at the moment.
Patrick couldn't help but sigh. He knew that the late Alpha of Silver Spring Pack must have been very strict with Gloria. Patrick was raised as the future Alpha of the pack since he was a kid, so he naturally knew how much work it took to be as capable as Gloria.
He suddenly remembered something Gloria had said before. She said, "Achievements are related to luck or the effort a person is willing to put in."
When she said that to him, he didn't take her words seriously.
Yet today, on the phone, he listened to Gloria arguing with others, and then he realized how tough she could be. He had a deeper understanding of what she had said back then.
"Gloria, good job," Patrick turned to look at the gate of Moonlight Group and said with a proud tone.
Patrick started the car and left Moonlight Group. He thought, 'So, she doesn't need my help at all. She can manage it well.'
Gloria stood at the front of the conference room. She propped her hands on the table and swept her gaze over the higher-ups. She knew she had won her first battle.
"Now that everyone agrees with me, go ahead and do your jobs then," she said, putting an end to the meeting. Everyone left, and there was no one but her and Leonard in the meeting room.
She slumped to the ground.
Leonard hurriedly stepped forward and asked, "Miss Carter, are you alright?"
When Leonard reached out to support Gloria, he was startled. He said, "Miss Carter, the back of your coat is soaked with sweat. I'll ask the secretary to get a new one for you."
"No!" Gloria immediately stopped Leonard.
Leonard was puzzled and asked, "But your coat is already wet."
Gloria looked at Leonard, shook her head, and said, "If you do that, others will suspect that my confidence and momentum just now were fake. In such a way, all my hard work would be for nothing."
Leonard opened his mouth without knowing what to say.
He saw with his own eyes. Gloria, who walked with difficulty, stood weakly in the huge conference room and faced all these scheming, covetous former members of the pack all alone.
Gloria took a deep breath, and then her expression eased a little. She used her hands to support the ground and stood up while enduring the pain in her waist and legs.
"Let me help you." Seeing that she was walking with difficulty, Leonard hurried to help her.
Gloria pushed Leonard's hand away and said, "Thanks, I'm OK."
Everyone in the Secretary Department was looking at Gloria as she walked out of the meeting room. She ignored them and took her phone out of her pocket.
She dialed a number from three years ago. The call was connected, and she said, "Mandy, this is Gloria. Moonlight Group is mine again, and now, I need all of you to come back."
Gloria said "all of you" instead of "you". Mandy was shocked and covered her mouth.
For nearly thirty seconds, there was no sound on the phone, and Gloria did not urge Mandy.
A minute later, Mandy collected herself and said, "Sure. Give me an hour, Miss Carter!"
Gloria blinked and fought back her tears. She said, "You let your emotions get the best of you."
Although Gloria was criticizing Mandy, the latter's eyes were full of tears. She thought, 'Yes! This is the real Gloria!'
Mandy did not know. Though Gloria was criticizing her on the phone right now as in the past, Gloria's mentality had changed a lot.
Gloria did this out of caution in the past, yet now, she did this, simply because she was forcing herself to do so.
An hour later, Mandy led the former team members to Gloria and said, "I'm sorry, Miss Carter, but I could only get seven people."
Gloria nodded. She respected their decisions, which made her even more grateful to the seven people in front of her. "Thank you for showing up and standing in front of me today."
