Lucas was surprised. He thought, 'Seriously? Does she admit it just like that?
I feel so bad for Derrick!'
Lucas was furious. He said, "Don't get carried away. I will make sure he knows what kind of woman you are. You are like cancer. I will not allow you to stay around my friend and hurt him!" Then Lucas loosened his grip.
Gloria and Lucas returned to the room one after the other.
The look in Derrick's eyes changed. As soon as Lucas sat down, he looked up and met Derrick's deep eyes.
"You don't smell of smoke." Derrick looked coldly at Lucas, who was opposite him.
Derrick thought, 'Lucas claimed that he was going out for a smoke, but he doesn't smell of smoke at all. Also, he comes back right after Gloria. And I always have the feeling that he was targeting Gloria by saying those things earlier. And after saying that, he left the room after Gloria did.'
Instantly, Derrick's face looked colder.
Mike took a sip of his coffee and his hand trembled while holding the cup.
"I went to say hello to Miss Carter. We met at Fittro Club before. I guess that makes us kind of acquaintances, right?" Lucas said casually.
Derrick narrowed his eyes. "I know she works at Fittro Club. Save the sarcasm."
Lucas was so pissed off that he almost laughed. He took out his cigarette case and lit a cigarette in front of Gloria.
Derrick raised his chin and said to Lucas, "Aren't you going out to smoke now?"
Derrick thought, 'I knew it. Since when did Lucas care about what others think?'
Mike felt that something was off. He stood up abruptly and said, "I just remember that I still have things to do. I've just had a few drinks. Lucas, give me a ride, OK?"
After he said that, he pulled Lucas forcefully and walked out. Before he left, he said, "Miss Carter, see you."
Derrick turned around, sized Gloria up, and said, "What did he do to you?"
"Nothing," Gloria said.
"Then what did he say to you?" Derrick asked.
Gloria replied, "He said hello."
Derrick frowned and looked at her, not buying her words at all.
Gloria didn't explain more. Believe it or not, it was all up to him.
"I've got a lot on my plate recently. The company is only marginally better off. Gloria, after I take care of all this, I'll get you out of Fittro Club," Derrick said.
Gloria was tempted by his words for a moment.
Yet then she calmed down. If leaving Fittro Club was that easy, she would have left already.
Nothing would ever change if Patrick didn't want to let her go. He would still find her even if she left.
Meanwhile, after Lucas left the room, he didn't go back to the Sea Moon Pack. Instead, he met with a woman at a café.
He whispered his thoughts to the woman. The woman said before she left, "Don't worry. I will let your friend know what kind of woman she really is. But you promised me we would have sex after I got the thing done. Keep your word!"
Lucas chuckled and leaned toward the rich young woman, whispering to her ear, "Of course. I'll never say no to a beauty like you, Ms. Hall."
His deep voice along with his enchanting face made her fall head over heels for him. She said somewhat reluctantly, "Then it's settled. I will do it tomorrow night. Make sure you'll be there. I don't want you to accuse me of not doing my job properly."
"Ms. Hall, you're funny. You are so beautiful and capable, and of course, I have every faith in you. Even if you don't get it done, I still won't miss it for the world to be with a beauty like you. Alright then. I wish you success, Ms. Hall."
Lucas then turned to leave, not letting her see the flash of disgust in his brown eyes.
After enjoying the cake in the dessert shop, Derrick and Gloria left. Derrick never told her why he wanted her to ask for leave.
Then Gloria got out of Derrick's car again.
"Mr. Fisher, you asked me to ask for leave to ride the Ferris wheel?" Gloria stared in disbelief at the giant Ferris wheel in front of her.
"Let's go. I promised you a ride on the Ferris wheel." Derrick reached out his hand, but she took a step back warily.
"Gloria?" Derrick looked at her with confusion.
Gloria looked at Derrick vigilantly and said, "Mr. Fisher, I'm sorry."
Derrick was stunned. After a while, he stopped looking serious. He suddenly smiled and said, "It's fine. It doesn't have to be today. We'll ride on the Ferris wheel together another time."
Gloria didn't say anything. After she looked up at the sky, she said, "Mr. Fisher, I'm a bit tired. Can you take me back to my dormitory?"
Derrick took a deep look at Gloria. After a while, he said in a magnetic voice," OK."
They arrived at her dormitory building.
"Mr. Fisher, I have something to say to you." Gloria wanted to tell him that she did not like him.
"Hold that thought," Derrick, who was in the driver's seat, interrupted her. He said, "Someone is contacting me through the mind link. Gloria, you may get out first."
"Mr. Fisher, why wouldn't you let me finish my sentence?" Gloria's gaze fell on Derrick's face. She had used the mind link to contact other members of the pack before, so she knew how things worked. He was lying. No one was contacting him through the mind link.
"Gloria, get out of the car. I have a lot on my plate these days. I have to deal with family matters and pack affairs at the same time, and I'm very busy," Derrick said. Yet he softened up when he saw the stubborn look on Gloria's face. He said gently, "Gloria, if you have something to tell me, wait till I sort things out, OK?"
He looked as if he was begging her. Gloria's heart trembled. Her reason told her that she should make things clear with him now, but at this moment, she just couldn't utter a word.
She sighed softly and got out of the car without saying anything.
Gloria went to work the next night. On her way to work, several cars suddenly passed her and stopped less than ten meters in front of her.
Several brakes rang out. Gloria's eyes widened as she looked at the familiar figures getting out of the car.
"Hey! Isn't this Gloria?" The woman in the lead was wearing exquisite makeup and high heels. As she approached Gloria, she looked shocked. "Well, well. Indeed, it's the legendary Gloria from the Silver Spring Pack back then. How did you get like this? I still remember how flashy you were before."
