As soon as Gloria finished speaking, Derrick opened the door.
He smiled and said, "Gloria, let me introduce you to my friends. We grew up together. They are the Alpha and the Beta of the Sea Moon Pack, Mike and Lucas."
The door was completely pushed open, and everyone looked at each other in shock.
Gloria looked at the two people in the room, and her face turned pale.
"So, it's Miss Carter," Lucas greeted them in a meaningful tone, breaking the silence.
"Gloria?" Mike said.
Derrick was surprised that Lucas and Mike knew Gloria.
Then he looked at Lucas, since he found Lucas was acting strangely. He said, "Stop staring at my girlfriend like that."
Derrick didn't like the way Lucas stared at Gloria. He also disliked the tone Lucas used to address her as Miss Carter.
Lucas glanced at Derrick out of the corner of his eye, and then he looked at Gloria. After that, he said indifferently, "Take it easy. She is not my type."
Mike glanced at Lucas, feeling a bit weird. He thought, 'What's wrong with Lucas today?'
There was a hint of displeasure in Derrick's eyes. He glanced at Lucas and then reached out to hold Gloria's hand.
He lowered his head and asked her, "What do you want to eat?"
"Where's the bathroom? I need to go to the bathroom." Gloria didn't think she could hold on much longer under Lucas' burning gaze.
"Go out and turn left," Derrick replied. The second he finished speaking, she stood up and rushed out.
"She is in such a hurry," Lucas suddenly blurted out.
Derrick glared at Lucas and asked, "What is wrong with you today? Are you jealous that I have found my mate?"
"You're joking, right?" Lucas scoffed. He thought, 'How could my mate be that kind of woman?'
"You're overthinking. I'm going out for a cigarette," Lucas said.
He pulled out his chair and walked out of the room.
Mike tried to smooth things over and said, "He is not in a good mood today. Ignore him."
Derrick pursed his lips and did not speak. He was obviously unhappy.
After a while, Derrick asked, "How did you know Gloria?"
Mike was silent for a while. Instead of answering the question, he asked, "Is she your girlfriend? Then you should know where she works, right?"
"Yes. She works at Fittro Club. So, are you saying that you met her in Fittro Club?" Derrick asked.
Mike heaved a sigh of relief when he heard that Derrick already knew that Gloria worked at Fittro Club, since he didn't have to hide anything from Derrick anymore. He told Derrick about what happened that day. Naturally, he deliberately left some details untold.
Gloria walked into the bathroom, flustered. The least she wanted to do now was go back to the room.
She was caught off guard. She had no idea that Derrick would introduce her to Mike and Lucas.
However, Derrick called.
"I'll be OK in a minute. Be right back," she sighed. It seemed that hiding wasn't an option at all.
As she opened the bathroom door, someone suddenly barged in and locked the door.
"Be quiet. You don't want others to know that you and I are in such a private place together, right?" She was familiar with this voice. It belonged to Lucas.
Gloria's body trembled. He tightened his arm around her waist. Lucas smiled and said, "You are so cold to me, Miss Carter. I have to say that you're very good at it. You attracted my attention deliberately, and now you make Derrick your boyfriend."
"That's not true. I didn't want your attention. I have never tried to seduce anyone, let alone make anyone my boyfriend," she said.
"Really? You're such a phony. Your body claims otherwise," Lucas said, biting Gloria's ear.
She frowned in pain. Lucas smiled, "Come on. Shout, if it hurts. Are all the call girls like you? Putting a mask on your face all the time. You have long forgotten how to be sincere, have you?"
Gloria tried desperately not to punch Lucas' handsome face. She clenched her fists and let go of them a few times.
"You know what, Mr. Norman? It's not that some people don't know they can shout out when they feel pain. The fact is, if they shout, they'll get beaten more," she was referring to those three years in prison. "Mr. Norman, I have some questions for you. If those people suffer in silence, since they don't want to be beaten up more, does that make them wrong? Does that mean they are not sincere?"
Lucas was stunned for a second, but soon, a mocking smile appeared on his face. He said, "Miss Carter, you are so good at this, trying to look pitiful. It sounds like I've hurt you, and I will beat you up again if you shout in pain."
Gloria lowered her eyes and thought, 'He's never had the same experience as me, so he won't understand. What's the point of explaining it to him?'
"Mr. Norman, please let go of me. Mr. Fisher just called, asking me to go back. If I stay here any longer, I'm afraid he will come here looking for me," Gloria said.
"Are you threatening me?" Lucas raised his eyebrows. Then he said, "Alright then. Let's wait for Derrick and let him see your true colors."
"My true colors or yours?" Gloria was amused by Lucas' words. She said, "Fine. I agree. Let's wait till Mr. Fisher comes here. He deserves to know that the man he considers his friend doesn't care about his feelings at all."
Gloria had the urge to laugh. She thought, 'What makes Lucas think that he speaks for me? What makes him think I don't want to come clean with Derrick?
Perhaps as far as Lucas is concerned, I'm nothing but a shameless woman.'
The disdain in Lucas' eyes grew stronger. He said, "You make me sick. You claimed that I don't care about Derrick's feelings? When you said so, it showed that you were the one who didn't care about his feelings. I feel bad for Derrick. You don't deserve him. He chose the wrong woman."
"I agree with you, Mr. Norman," said Gloria frankly.
