Zoya’s P.O.V
"I can feel your distress from inside the bedroom. What’s wrong?”
With a hand on my chest in an attempt to prevent my heart from bursting out of my chest cavity in fear, I turned around from the kitchen window to find Ezra standing on the other side of the counter, his look full of concern as he examined me from head to toe.
"Is everything okay?” He asked frowning. “Sorry…I startled you.”
"Oh," I said with a dismissive wave, forcing a smile to give him some form of assurance while my heart beat wildly inside my chest. "It's nothing. I just didn’t hear you coming…I'm fine. Good morning."
His frown melted into a smile that mirrored mine. "Good morning."
It was then that I realized with a start that he wasn’t wearing a shirt. His bare torso glistened in the soft morning light, emphasizing the sculpted contours of his physique and almost instantly…memories of our passionate encounter from last night ignite within me, the vivid details dancing in my mind.
…
"I'll start moving when you're ready," he whispered in between kisses, and he buried himself in the crook of my neck, taking in, inhaling my scent.
…
"Faster, faster…" I gasped, my eyes now shut tight. "Ohh, Ezra, I need it… I need you…!"
"You feel so good, baby," Ezra panted as he kept the steady rhythm. "So tight…Oh god, Zoya…I…I’m about to…"
…
The bed creaked beneath us as he repeatedly thrusted in and out of me. My nails dug into the skin of his back, my hips rocking into his as I couldn't get enough of him.
…
Almost immediately, I started to feel the throbbing between my legs, and it didn't take a stroke of genius for me to figure out I was aroused at just the thought of last night…at the thought of Ezra.
Goodness! What was happening to me? I’d never been like this before!
Even with my ex-fiancé…I’d never wanted to do such things with him like I wanted to with Ezra…
My legs wobbled beneath me again, and I grabbed the kitchen counter for support. God forbid I embarrass myself by falling over in front of him.
My cheeks flushed as I realized Ezra was smirking at me, his eyes gleaming with a mixture of mischief and affection.
“What?” I asked him, suppressing the urge to giggle. I didn’t know why, but this whole situation made me feel very… giddy. I don’t know if it’s because I had never experienced this before. Or maybe it’s the domesticity of the situation. Or if I’m just so damn happy to be with someone in this way…
Whatever it is, it made me happy, almost delirious with elation.
“Nothing,” he said, still smirking at me, as he leaned forwards with his hands on the counter. I could tell that he was holding back something, though I wasn’t quite sure what it was…
A surge of both excitement and vulnerability coursed through me as I became aware of the depth of our connection.
Then I remembered last night, how he took care of me so lovingly, and how he had put my needs first before mine…
And how it had felt so fucking good when he had been inside me…thrusting in and out of me, filling me in with all that he had…
Oh god…
Ezra’s smirk became a full-blown grin now, and I raised my eyebrow at him, wondering why he was so amused.
Then it dawned on me that Ezra could probably possess an uncanny ability to read my mind!
Crap!
Oh, dear… this did notlook good! Had he been able to hear me thinking about last night all this time? Is that why he looked so amuse?
Oh god! What do I do now? How do I even face him?
"I can't read your mind, if that's what you're thinking," he said suddenly. Maybe he noticed the panicked, almost distressed look on my face. Or maybe he could really read my mind!
"You saying that doesn't make it any better. Now I'm really starting to believe that you can read my thoughts," I mused, maybe a little worried.
He laughed, shaking his head. "No, really. I can just sense your emotions because of the mating dance." His smile turned into a smirk. "And I did sense how you felt aroused when I’m this close to you. Your arousal is a like a scent in the air."
I tried to ignore that last sentence, though I could feel my cheeks grow warmer. I didn't know what to say to that, anyway, so it was best if I pretended not to hear it.
Now… what did he say again? What was it? A mating dance?
“Mating dance?” I looked at him with wide eyed curiosity. "What does that mean?"
So far, all I’ve heard was mating bonds and mates, but mating dance was new…it sounded different. But I was pretty sure that just like all other supernatural elements I’d heard so far, it would have some kind of a complex meaning.
Whatever it was, I had a hunch that it had something to do with the intricate web of the wolf's mating rituals formed by the Moon Goddess.
With a gentle smile, Ezra began to unravel the secrets behind the mating dance. "When a wolf chooses their mate, the process of the mating dance commences."
Ezra took a seat by the counter, pulling a chair out for me as well, and tapping on it as an invitation.
However, I lifted my hands off the countertop, but immediately went back.
"What's wrong?" he asked, frowning as he tried to stand up from the chair in a rush, taken aback by my sudden movement.
"I…" I trailed off, embarrassed. "It's a bit difficult to walk right now…"
He looked momentarily confused, eyebrows meeting in the middle, then, in a stroke of understanding, he let out a chuckle. "Oh, well, I guess that's my fault."
"Don't laugh…" I said, looking away.
