Torn Between my Alpha Mates

Chapter 79: Like a Wolf in Heat Part 2

Ch. 79 / 177 Dec 10, 2025

Ezra’s P.O.V

What was it? What was going on? I really didn’t want Cam to get involved since she had had a long day today and her child was having a hard time coping with the fact that she had to stay daycare all day while her parents worked all day. To take came away from her child at night would be completely unfair on my part.

So, I put the phone back in my pocket and went back inside.

As Zoya's screams of pain intensified, a surge of adrenaline coursed through my veins, propelling me into action.

Fear and concern mingled within me, urging me to do whatever it took to ease her suffering. I went to open the door again, but I must have accidentally locked it on my way out earlier or it might have been jammed, because it wouldn’t open anymore.

“Oh, fuck it.” With a swift burst of strength, I crashed through the door, revealing the scene before me.

Her room was engulfed in an aura of agony and distress. Zoya lay upon the bed, her body contorted in anguish, her hands clutching her stomach as if trying to quell the torment within. The pain seemed to have worsened.

The sight tore at my heart, filling me with an overwhelming desire to provide solace.

"Zoya!" I exclaimed, my voice filled with both alarm and compassion. I rushed to her side, kneeling beside the bed.

But then… I noticed exactly what I had missed the first time around…what I had thought was different this whole time about her situation.

The scent in the room had shifted, transforming into an intoxicating musk that stirred something deep within me.

It was familiar yet foreign, a scent that triggered primal instincts and blurred the line between human and wolf.

The realization hit me like a lightning bolt — Zoya was experiencing something akin to a wolf's heat. Confusion and concern swirled within me at this new revelation.

How was this even possible? She was only a human? What had brought about such a transformation?

Questions tumbled through my mind, but in that moment, my focus was solely on Zoya and alleviating her suffering.

"Zoya, I'm here," I reassured her, my voice steady despite the chaos within me. Gently, I reached out to touch her trembling hand, offering what little comfort I could provide. "You're going to be alright. Just hold on."

Her eyes, filled with a mixture of pain and vulnerability, met mine. "Ezra...something's wrong," she gasped, her voice strained. "It hurts so much. I-I don’t kn-ow…"

My heart ached at her plea, my instincts compelling me to find a solution. I couldn't bear to see her in such agony. "Zoya, I don't know what's happening either, but I won't leave your side. We'll figure this out together," I vowed, determination coloring my words.

Why was this happening to her? This wasn’t supposed to be happening to her?

Could it be…? That she was actually experiencing heat? But why?

As the mysterious scent permeated the air, my own senses heightened. The allure was undeniable, stirring a primal urge within me.

With every passing moment, her struggle intensified, her body wracked with convulsions.

The room seemed to close in around us, time standing still as we faced this unprecedented challenge.

Something stirred within me, my wolf coming to the forefront of my mind, howling and crying for its mate. It wanted me to comfort her, to make her stop hurting…and I think I had a vague idea of how to make it stop.

But it went against the very fabric of my being. I couldn’t do this, not to Zoya, not at a time like this!

I frantically tried to alleviate Zoya's torment, running a cold bath in a desperate attempt to soothe her agony and lower the temperature of her body that felt like a furnace.

Picking her up gently in my arms, I eased her into the tub, making sure the water covered her up to her neck. Yet, despite my efforts, nothing seemed to help. Her pain only seemed to intensify. Drops of water splashed onto the floor as she struggled to find a way to make herself comfortable.

Zoya's voice trembled with anguish as she looked at me, her eyes filled with a mixture of confusion and distress. "Ezra, what is happening to me?" she pleaded, her words strained. "Why does it feel like my heart is being torn apart?"

Her question struck me like a bolt of lightning, leaving me momentarily speechless.

Confusion swirled with this new information, because I couldn’t fathom why Zoya of all people would feel this way.

I had witnessed such torment before, but only in cases where a werewolf's mate had rejected them, choosing to bond with another.

But… I was her mate, wasn't I? And I haven't rejected her. So… that must mean…

The implications of such a revelation echoed through my mind, creating a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions.

Stammering for words, I hesitantly shared my theory, unsure of how she would react.

"Zoya, this kind of pain, this turmoil... It usually happens to werewolves when their mates…bond with another wolf," I explained, my voice tinged with uncertainty. “But I don’t know how this is even possible. You…your mate…”

I fought to share the rest of my theory because I didn’t want to reveal the whole truth to her right this instant. How could I tell her at this crucial moment that she was my mate? No…I needed to wait for a proper time.

But to my surprise, Zoya's eyes widened, a glimmer of recognition flickering within them.

I looked at her in surprise, unsure of what to make of it. “Zoya? Do you-”

"Silas...” She whispered before I could finish my sentence.

“Before he left, he told me something similar," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

“W-what did he tell you, Zoya?” I swallowed the nervousness, the fear creeping in the pit of my stomach.

"He said that I was his mate."
