The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 781

Ch. 771 / 790 May 05, 2026

Sixteen years had passed, and Rosalie had grown into a strong and fiercely independent young woman. Her golden eyes gleamed with curiosity and determination, and her energy seemed endless. It was clear to everyone in Crescent Howl that Rosalie wasn’t an ordinary wolf.

She had inherited Kael’s strength and Bella’s fiery resilience, but there was something more—a unique power simmering just beneath the surface. Over the past few months, Rosalie’s heightened senses and unnatural speed had become impossible to ignore. She could outrun most of the pack warriors and hear whispered conversations from across the courtyard. What unsettled Bella the most were the strange surges of energy Rosalie sometimes displayed, flashes of light sparking at her fingertips when she was angry or excited.

“She’s just finding herself,” Kael said one evening as Bella paced in their shared quarters.

Bella frowned. “Finding herself is one thing, but these… powers? They’re different. And they’re getting stronger.”

Kael leaned back in his chair, a smirk tugging at his lips. “She’s my daughter, Bella. She can handle anything.”

Bella shot him a look. “Kael, this isn’t a joke. What if she hurts someone? Or herself?”

“She won’t,” Kael said firmly. “She’s got us. And we’ll guide her through it.”

Rosalie, of course, had no intention of waiting for guidance. She was too curious, too restless to stay within the packhouse walls.

That night, after Bella and Kael retired to their room, Rosalie slipped out through her bedroom window. The cool night air brushed against her skin as she landed silently on the ground, her hybrid reflexes making the descent effortless.

She took off into the woods, her heightened senses drinking in every detail—the rustling leaves, the faint scent of dew on the grass, and the distant howls of the pack on patrol. This was her favorite time, when the world felt quiet, and she could explore without anyone watching her every move.

Her feet carried her deeper into the forest, past the familiar trails and into the wilder parts of Crescent Howl territory. The thrill of adventure buzzed through her veins as she darted between trees, her speed blurring the world around her.

But just as she was beginning to feel free, a sharp voice cut through the night.

“Rosalie!”

She froze, her heart sinking. Turning slowly, she saw Kael emerging from the shadows, his arms crossed and his expression a mix of frustration and amusement.

“Really, pup?” he said, his voice low but firm. “You thought you could sneak past me?”

Rosalie folded her arms, trying to look unbothered. “I’m not a pup anymore, Dad.”

Kael arched a brow, stepping closer. “Oh, really? Because sneaking out in the middle of the night sounds exactly like something a pup would do.”

Rosalie’s cheeks flushed, but she refused to back down. “I just needed some space. I’m not a child, you know.”

Kael sighed, his frustration melting into something softer. He placed a hand on her shoulder, his grip gentle but firm. “You’ll always be my pup, Rosalie. And as long as you’re under my roof, you follow my rules.”

Rosalie rolled her eyes. “I’m not under your roof right now.”

Kael’s lips twitched in a reluctant smile. “Smart mouth, huh? You get that from your mother.”

Rosalie laughed despite herself, and Kael pulled her into a quick hug. “Come on,” he said, steering her back toward the packhouse. “Your mom’s going to kill me if she finds out I let you wander around out here.”

The next night, Rosalie found herself restless again. She knew sneaking out wasn’t smart, but the pull of the forest was too strong. Her hybrid instincts craved freedom, and the walls of the packhouse felt stifling.

Slipping out once more, she ventured deeper into the woods, her steps light and deliberate. This time, she was more careful, avoiding the patrol routes and staying alert for any sign of her father.

But as she moved through the trees, a strange sensation prickled at the back of her neck. It was faint at first, like an itch she couldn’t scratch, but it grew stronger with every step.

Rosalie paused, her golden eyes scanning the shadows. The forest was quiet—too quiet.

She turned slowly, her senses on high alert. “Who’s there?” she called, her voice steady despite the unease creeping over her.

There was no response, but the feeling of being watched didn’t fade. If anything, it intensified.

Rosalie’s heart raced as she tried to pinpoint the source of the sensation. Her fingers tingled, tiny sparks of light flickering at her fingertips as her hybrid powers reacted to her fear.

Suddenly, a shadow moved in the corner of her vision. She spun toward it, her instincts screaming danger.

“Show yourself!” she demanded, her voice sharper now.

The shadow didn’t respond, but it lingered just out of reach, like it was toying with her. Rosalie clenched her fists, the faint glow around her hands growing brighter.

“Whoever you are, you’re messing with the wrong girl,” she said, her voice low and threatening.

The shadow shifted again, this time darting deeper into the forest. Without thinking, Rosalie took off after it, her speed carrying her through the trees like a blur.

She chased the shadow for what felt like hours, her determination outweighing her fear. But no matter how fast she ran, the figure always stayed just ahead of her, like it was leading her somewhere.

Finally, the shadow disappeared into the thick darkness of the forest. Rosalie skidded to a stop, her breath coming in sharp gasps as she looked around.

The silence was deafening, the air heavy with tension.

And then, just as she was beginning to think she’d imagined it, a voice whispered from the darkness.

“You’re not ready yet, Rosalie. But soon, you will be.”

Rosalie’s blood ran cold. She turned in every direction, trying to find the source of the voice, but the forest remained still.

“Who are you?” she shouted, her voice trembling slightly.

There was no answer, only the faint echo of laughter fading into the night.
