The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 779

Ch. 769 / 790 May 05, 2026

The evening air was alive with the hum of excitement as Crescent Howl’s pack members gathered in the courtyard. The decorations shimmered under the moonlight, and the scent of wildflowers mingled with the rich aromas of the feast. Laughter and music filled the air, creating an atmosphere of joy that felt like a balm after weeks of tension and fear.

Bella stood near the stage, holding Rosalie in her arms. Her daughter wore a white dress with silver accents, her tiny face glowing with health and curiosity. Bella glanced at Kael, who stood beside her, his broad shoulders exuding confidence as he greeted the pack.

“She’s perfect,” Kael murmured, leaning closer to Bella. His voice was low, meant only for her.

Bella smiled, brushing a hand against Rosalie’s soft cheek. “She’s a fighter, just like her father.”

Kael chuckled softly, the sound warm and reassuring. “And her mother.”

The pack began to gather closer, drawn by the sight of their Alpha heir. One by one, members approached to pay their respects, offering gifts and blessings for the child who had already endured so much. Bella felt her heart swell with pride as she introduced Rosalie to her pack, knowing this moment was a testament to their resilience and love.

At the edge of the courtyard, Adam leaned against a tree, his presence commanding despite his casual posture. His dark eyes watched the celebration with quiet intensity, his lips curling into a faint, almost reluctant smile.

Eryon approached him, holding two glasses of wine. “Didn’t think you’d actually show up,” he said, handing Adam a glass.

Adam shrugged, taking a sip. “Curiosity got the better of me. Besides, I wanted to see how the little one’s holding up.”

“She’s thriving,” Eryon said, his gaze shifting to Bella and Kael. “Thanks to you.”

Adam didn’t respond immediately. His eyes lingered on Rosalie, and for a moment, his usual stoicism softened. “She’s stronger than I expected. More than they realize.”

Eryon studied him, noting the flicker of emotion Adam rarely showed. “You care more than you let on.”

Adam smirked, shaking his head. “Don’t read too much into it, Eryon. I did what needed to be done. Nothing more.”

But Eryon wasn’t convinced, and he didn’t press further.

The celebration reached its peak as Kael stepped onto the stage, holding Rosalie high for everyone to see. A roar of approval erupted from the pack, their cheers echoing through the night. Bella stood beside him, her heart racing with emotion as she looked out at the sea of faces.

“Tonight, we celebrate not just Rosalie’s survival but the strength and unity of this pack,” Kael announced, his deep voice carrying over the crowd. “Crescent Howl has faced challenges, but we’ve overcome them together. And as long as we stand united, nothing will tear us apart.”

The pack cheered again, their loyalty and love thick. Bella glanced at Rosalie, who blinked at the crowd with wide, curious eyes. She kissed her daughter’s forehead, whispering, “This is your family, my love. They’ll always protect you.”

Among the crowd, Misery stood with Lira, her sharp gaze scanning the perimeter. Despite the festivities, she couldn’t shake the lingering unease that had settled in her chest earlier.

“Do you feel it?” she asked Lira, her voice low.

Lira nodded, her expression guarded. “It’s faint, but it’s there. Like a shadow.”

Misery’s jaw tightened. “Esmera may be gone, but her influence isn’t. We need to stay alert.”

“I’ll double the patrols,” Lira said. “If anyone tries to disrupt this night, they won’t get far.”

Misery nodded, her hand resting on the hilt of her blade. She refused to let anything ruin this moment for Bella, Kael, or Rosalie.

As the celebration continued, Bella found herself watching the crowd, her instincts sharpening despite the joy surrounding her. She caught sight of Adam again, his presence as enigmatic as ever. He raised his glass slightly when their eyes met, a silent acknowledgment.

“Why is he here?” Bella murmured to Kael, who followed her gaze.

“Maybe he’s curious,” Kael said. “Or maybe he wants to remind us that we owe him.”

Bella frowned but decided to let it go. There would be time to address Adam’s motives later. For now, she needed to focus on Rosalie and the happiness of this moment.

As the night wore on, Bella felt a strange tension creeping along her skin. It was faint, almost imperceptible, but familiar enough to set her on edge. She glanced around, her eyes searching the shadows beyond the courtyard.

“What is it?” Kael asked, sensing her unease.

Bella shook her head, her brow furrowing. “I’m not sure. It’s probably nothing.”

But deep down, she knew better. The faint sensation felt like a whisper of the past—a lingering echo of Esmera’s dark magic. Bella tightened her hold on Rosalie, her heart pounding.
