The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 774

Ch. 764 / 790 May 05, 2026

The days after the ritual passed in a blur of tense anticipation, the air thick with both relief and caution. Rosalie’s condition, once dire, had begun to show signs of improvement. Her once faint and labored breathing now came in steady, calm bursts. Her skin, pale and fragile, had begun to regain some color, and though she was still small, there was a renewed strength to her presence. Bella spent every waking moment by her side, barely leaving the nursery, not wanting to miss a single moment of her daughter’s recovery.

Kael was ever-watchful, ensuring that the pack stayed secure and that no threats loomed in the distance. Despite his efforts, his eyes never strayed far from Bella and Rosalie. He could see the worry still gnawing at her, the fear that would not fully let go until her daughter was completely well.

“I never thought I’d see the day when she would open her eyes again,” Bella whispered one morning, her voice tinged with both exhaustion and relief as she stroked Rosalie’s soft hair.

Kael sat beside her, his hand resting on her shoulder. “I knew she would pull through. She’s got the heart of a warrior.”

“Her heart,” Bella repeated softly, “and something else. Something more.”

Kael’s gaze sharpened. “What do you mean?”

Bella looked down at Rosalie, her heart swelling with love and wonder. She felt it then—the bond she shared with her daughter had deepened in a way she didn’t understand. There was an unfamiliar energy that pulsed alongside Rosalie’s heartbeat, something that wasn’t entirely wolf. It was a mix of magic—mysterious, ancient, and undeniably powerful.

“I don’t know,” Bella murmured. “It’s like there’s something else inside her. Something that wasn’t there before.”

Kael frowned, his eyes narrowing as he considered her words. “You think it’s a result of Esmera’s magic?”

“I don’t think so. It feels… different. Like a new part of her, something that wasn’t there when she was born.” Bella’s gaze shifted to Adam, who had been quietly observing Rosalie’s recovery from the doorway. He hadn’t said much since the ritual, but Bella could sense that his mind was always working, always calculating.

Adam stepped forward then, his presence commanding the room. “Her hybrid nature is more complex than you realize,” he said, his voice low and measured.

Bella looked up at him, worry evident in her eyes. “What do you mean?”

Adam studied Rosalie for a moment before speaking again. “The spell has been reversed, yes. The magic has healed her, but her hybrid nature—her very essence—is evolving.” He turned his gaze back to Bella. “You’re right. There is something more within her. But it isn’t just her wolf side. There’s an ancient magic at work here. Something older, something dangerous.”

Kael’s protective instinct flared. “Are you saying that there’s something wrong with her? That she’s not fully healed?”

“No.” Adam’s voice was firm, but his eyes were troubled. “She’s healed for now, but her hybrid nature will always attract danger. The combination of wolf and magic—it’s not something many understand, and it will draw the wrong kind of attention. Rosalie will always be a target because of it.”

Bella’s heart sank. She’d always known that Rosalie’s existence would be complicated, that her daughter would face challenges that no normal child would. But hearing it from Adam, hearing the gravity in his words, made the weight of that reality even heavier.

“I’ll protect her,” Kael said, his tone fierce. “I don’t care what it takes. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep my family safe.”

Adam gave him a sharp look, a flicker of respect crossing his face. “I’m not questioning your loyalty, Alpha. But protecting her will require more than just strength. You’ll need to be ready for things you can’t even fathom.”

Kael didn’t flinch. “We’ll be ready.”

The silence in the room deepened, broken only by the soft sounds of Rosalie’s breathing. Bella, lost in her thoughts, reached out to gently touch her daughter’s tiny hand, a sense of peace washing over her as she felt the faintest stir of a connection.

Suddenly, a faint pulse echoed through her bond with Rosalie—a soft, almost imperceptible whisper that made Bella’s breath catch in her throat.

“I’m safe now, Mama.”

It wasn’t a voice she had heard before, not consciously. But it was unmistakably Rosalie, speaking through their bond. Bella froze, her heart thundering in her chest as she realized what had just happened.

Kael, who had been watching her closely, saw the sudden shift in her expression. “Bella? What is it?”

Tears welled up in Bella’s eyes as she leaned over Rosalie, cradling her daughter’s tiny body in her arms. “She spoke to me,” Bella whispered, her voice trembling. “I felt her. She’s—she’s okay. She’s really okay.”

Kael’s eyes softened, and he gently wrapped his arm around Bella, holding her close as they both looked down at their daughter, who now seemed to sleep more peacefully than ever before.

Adam, who had been quietly observing, said nothing at first. But as he watched Bella and Kael, he couldn’t help but feel a flicker of something—perhaps hope, perhaps recognition. Whatever it was, it felt like a spark in the darkness, something that could change everything.
