Xander POV

I could swear that in that moment Jamal dies and resurrects. He flashed a nervous smile before getting himself back into his normal intimidating look. I thought that this was my chance and if I could press harder, Jamal would let something slip. Something that might lead me to discover the entire truth.

“What? Does the disappearance ring any bell?” I asked.

Jamal laughs and answers. “Of course it does. Methis had gone for treatment abroad. Nearly fatal thing, it was.”

I cursed within myself. Jamal was probably smarter than I had anticipated. He did not evade questions. He answered them. Evasion was a sign of guilt but I knew better. Even with an aligning story from Methis and this strange man, it was still likely a well-planned lie.

“Where abroad?” I asked.

“I am not Methis mouthpiece. If you wish to know so much then ask her if she’ll be comfortable enough to tell you such details,” Jamal answered. “Now, seize with the interrogation, worm. I have better matters to attend to.”

He shoved me and walked pas but my legs were quick enough to trip him. Jamal stumbled and got up as fast as he had gone down and with a speed I had never seen any human assert, shoved me against a pillar. His eyes now had a little glow. What was this? Jamal was not normal. My heart stopped for a second until I regain my composure, but only just a little.

I stared deep into his eyes.

“You do not want to see me, boy.” Jamal’s voice became deeper and more ominous.

“I dare you.” I smiled back at him trying to be as daring as I dared to be. I notice him squint into my eyes. There was a sudden expression of realization on his face.

He jammed my head against the wall, holding my face stiff by my chin. He peered into my eyes muttering strange words. I mimicked his actions, peering deep into his eyes too and muttering words to myself. His eyes began glowing increasingly red and my heart started beating increasingly fast. Soon I could see so deep into his red orbs that I felt a hard pang at the back of my head and in a flash, I saw his life play inside his eye.

I saw his birth, his first transformation into a wolf, his first kill, his first intimate moment which he had with Methis but she had a different hair colour, and I also see a great war he fought were he killed a lot.

Jamal was a werewolf.

Immediately after this, I felt completely naked and my head went numb. It was as if an external force was rummaging inside of it fishing out all my memories. I immediately understood. Just as I had seen Jamal’s life through his eyes, Jamal had accessed my head.

I screamed really loud and forced Jamal out. I heard a bang and tires screeching. By the time I had become half-conscious from the ordeal, Jamal had already left.

Jamal’s POV

I watched Methis and the boy walk off, deep in conversation and I could feel resentment creeping all over my face. What exactly was this boy’s deal? What did he have that I didn’t? I am a Lycan King for crying out loud. My presence is meant to provoke awe in the minds of human beings, and Methis just doesn’t care about any of that. Probably because I haven’t shown myself to the boy. He’ll definitely have a much more different reaction to seeing me. I’m sure of that. I muttered a few curses under my breath and walked back to the car, where Summer and Autumn were waiting for me.

“Why didn’t we see her then, Father?”

I sighed and looked them dead in the eyes. They were incredibly beautiful – a trait their mother so generously passed on to them both. “We’ve gone over this already before, darlings. You’d meet the girl, I just have to wait for the right scenario.”

Summer looked at me with a knowing stare. “Maybe that girl is a lot more than you’re telling us, Father. I feel there’s something we don’t know about her. I sensed something when I stared into her eyes there.”

I smiled back. “This is your first time in this realm. There’s going to be a lot of things you don’t know about a lot of people, it’s only normal. You’re a werepup, not a magus little one.”

He wasn’t giving up. “But we’ve been here for long enough, and you’ve spent the longest time with that girl there. I’m certain she’s someone special to you, you’re just not willing to tell us.”

I sighed in defeat. “Okay, listen. I admit it. She is someone really special to me and you both, and I haven’t told either of you because I didn’t feel it was time yet. But the whole reason you both came to this realm was to find out who she is, and you wouldn’t go home till you both get that. Okay?”

They both nodded their heads and smiled. I smiled in return. Raising them would have been so much easier if Methis was around.

“Alright. I’m going to take you where you’re going to sleep for the duration of this trip. It’s not as big or comfortable as what you’re used to, but it’s good enough. Okay?”

They nodded again. Less excitedly. I looked over at them for a brief second, then turned back towards the steering and started the engine. All the way to the hotel, I couldn’t help but think about the embrace Methis shared with that boy. It was too passionate for the ones exchanged by normal acquaintances in this realm. They definitely have something together, and I am going to have to end it.
