Methis' POV

He kissed my forehead and said, “You’re welcome, my love. Now, there’s something I need to tell you. It’s about Jamal.”

I tensed up and felt a knot in my stomach. Jamal. The man who had turned my world upside down. The man who had made me feel things I had never felt before. The man who had left me without a word.

“What about him?” I asked, trying to sound casual.

“He came to see me yesterday,” he said. “He wanted to talk to me about you.”

I felt a jolt of shock and curiosity. Jamal had come to see my father? Why? What did he want?"

For the first time, my father looked unsure, like he wasn't sure how to break it to me, or if to.

“C'mon Dad, what did he say?” I asked, holding my breath.

"He said he was sorry for leaving you like that. He said he had some personal issues he had to deal with, and he didn’t want to drag you into them. He said he cared about you a lot, and he wanted to see you again. He asked me for he asked me for your permission to call you. He said he wanted to explain everything and apologize to you in person. He said he missed you and hoped you would give him another chance."

I felt a mix of emotions. Anger, hurt, confusion, curiosity, hope. Jamal had hurt me deeply, but he had also made me happy. He had left me without a word, but he had come back to ask for forgiveness. He had personal issues, but he cared about me. He wanted to see me again, but did I want to see him?

I didn’t know what to think or feel. I didn’t know what to say or do. I looked at my father, hoping he would give me some guidance.

"What did you say?" I ask

He looked at me with a gentle and understanding expression.

“It’s your decision, Methis,” he said. “You have to do what’s best for you. I’m not going to tell you what to do or how to feel."

"Well what the hell do you advise?" I asked, feeling some kind of irritation. I needed good solid advice, I needed to be pointed in the right direction, I kind of needed him to tell me what to.

He looked at me sadly before sighing,

"I’m just going to tell you this: You have to decide if you can forgive him and trust him again. You have to decide if you want to give him another chance. You have to decide if you love him, Methis.”

I felt a tear roll down my cheek. I loved Jamal. I loved him more than I had ever loved anyone. But I was scared. Scared of getting hurt again. Scared of opening up again. Scared of losing him again.

I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know what to say.

I looked at my father and said, “I don’t know, Dad. I don’t know.”

My alarm blared all and any of the residual sleep I had stored under my eyelids. I woke almost with a startle. It just had to be this loud, didn't it? It just had to be a nuisance at night.

I rolled off my bed and unto the floor. The rug was smooth. So smooth it sank a little under my weight. I remember when if I had done this a few years ago, I would end up on my hard cold floor. A lot had changed during the years where I had been away at the wolf realm. After my father's treatment, he had kept what was left of the money and invested it into estate. It took quite sometime and a load of hard work but that was how he was eventually able to afford the house we live in now.

It was almost like a dream the day we moved in. He was not one who was obsessed about excessive comfort but he felt like the upgrade was necessary for me. I knew that was how he felt. That after all these troubles I had been to at least I deserved something for my suffering. Though he never said it to me but I had known my father all my life. I could tell when he was thinking something.

Regardless of our financial status, my father still kept me incharge of the house cleanliness any time I was around. He said he'll never let me slack on my upbringing in the name of comfort so as I got up from bed, off I went cleaning the house and doing the dishes. It was just the two of us so the dishes were not much to do. After that was done, I sat back down on my bed for a little talk to myself. At this point on a normal day, I was going to be texting Sophia and we would have been laughing about some jokes we found on the internet but that was in the past now.

I did not know exactly where I and Sophia stood in our friendship. Did she still liked me or was I overreacting to something. I remember the day Jamal and Xander fought. They had done it in front of an entire mall. They bashed themselves continuously and it almost looked as if they'd have killed each other if they both were left alone. Sophia had tried to side her brother but even her was not spared from Jamal's fury. I did not enjoy the sight of it but it was what it was.
