Katia pov
“Katia” Aza calls out. “We are back in the quiet again. No movies this time though. Did we die?”
“I don’t know wolfie.” I like it when we are here. I can speak and hear what my voice sounds like. I wonder if Wolfie realizes that we are speaking and not linking. My voice has a musical sound to it, and I love it. I wish that the ones I loved in life could have heard it once while I was alive. I hope that Mark and Kelp find their mates and tell their pups about me some day. Most of the Blood Meadow pack brought some joy to my life in any way they could, and I tried to let them know how much I appreciated it.
I hope the new Alpha is good for them. I hope that they can move past the fact that he rejected his fated mate and only wanted to ensure the strength of his position and pack. It is easier for me now. Here in the quiet and the dark with such peace surrounding us, Aza and I can understand Alpha Lorn’s decision a little better. It does not stop the pain. It doesn’t cause confusion and feelings of inferiority to be any less.
Aza interrupts my thoughts, “Girly, do you hear that? It sounds like someone singing.” I listen and do hear what sounds like someone singing a sad song. It is a song about love that was never realized by two sisters. Every time the two sisters were allowed a life to live on the Earth realm, the enemies of their family would work together to destroy them. Their lives always end in death, and they never get to live the life fated for them. Their lives are always torture, abuse, and hatred, no matter how each sister is sent back to live in the Earth realm. The sisters have been sent back together and separately. It always ends the same with their deaths. It is one of the saddest songs Katia has ever heard. She knows that this is not the first time she has heard it before, and that the song has a meaning for her. She does not know how it pertains to her though.
Katia starts to follow the sound, “Come on Wolfie, let's go see if we can find who is singing.” Here in the darkness Katia and Wolfie are two different bodies. Katia is her human form and Aza is in wolf form. Katia can stroke and pet Aza’s shiny black fur. Her fur is so soft and fluffy. She loves having Katia stroke her and constantly touching her. It keeps them feeling like they are still united.
Walking forwards, Katia wonders, “Aza, why are you still here with me? Why have you not gone to be with another werewolf?”
“Oh Katia, I have always been with you. I have always been your wolf. No matter how many times we must live a life, I will always be with you. You are my person. I do not want another. When the goddess assigned us, she knew we were two halves that could not live without the other.” Aza assured me.
“It is the same for all wolves?” Katia asked.
“No, most can ask to be given to another if their human is evil or they just are not a match.” Aza explains. “Much of the time, though the matches are perfect. When they are not, like Zor and Thomas, the wolf will fight his human to do the right thing and vice versa.”
Shocked, Katia exclaimed, “Wait, you mean there could be bad wolves?”
“Of course, Girly. We are only wolfie like you are only humans. We are not perfect either, silly.” Aza laughed at her little joke.
Another laughter tinkled down the darkness along with Aza’s. “We are definitely not alone here this time girly.”
“Obviously Wolfie, but who is here with us?” Katia picked up her speed a little. She loved it here. She could move without pain. The feeling of being at peace was her favorite. She could sleep without fear and nightmares. She could wander without worrying about someone finding her and accusing her of breaking rules or not following directions. No one wanted to whip her, punch, beat, choke, or rape her. She could just be.
Aza stopped sniffing the air, “Girly, I smell flowers, grass, dirt, trees, and wonderful things.”
“Look Aza there is light down there and the laughter is louder.”
The tinkling laughter is now a tinkling voice, “Come girls. I don’t have all day. I have been waiting for you. I have missed you two so much and we have a lot to discuss. Hurry now!”
Katia looks at Aza, “Who is the world is that? How does she know us?”
“I have an idea and if I am right, you are in for a big surprise.” Aza laughs, licking Katia’s face.
Just then, the darkness gives way to the brightest sunlight Katia and Aza have ever seen. They are in the middle of a glade full of so many different colored flowers and types of trees. Looking in one direction, it looks like spring with all the pastel-colored florals and new growth. Baby birds are in their nest squawking for their next meal and all kinds of animal young are running and playing. In the area of land directly beside spring, it is summer with the dark hues of green grass and the darker bright colors of the leaves and trees. All the animals are a bit older and are foraging for food to last them through the long winter to come. From summer is fall and the oranges, yellows, and reds of that season. The animals are carrying heavy coats of fur and not as many feather friends are around as they have left to winter elsewhere. Lastly, in the area next to fall is the winter season and there is white fluffy snow everywhere the eye can see. It is an amazing, beautiful sight to behold. All four seasons in one place coexisting side by side at the same time.
Standing in the middle of all four seasons, is a woman with long white hair, dark purple eyes, porcelain skin, with the pinkest lips and the rosiest cheeks. She is as small as Katia and slender. She has not been starved most of her life, so has more curves. She is the most gorgeous woman Katia has ever seen.
The woman turns to Katia with tears in her eyes, “Welcome sister!”
