"Shut up. I told you not to call me Mom. I'm not the one who gave birth to you, do you hear me?" Mrs. Emma glared at Ella, she didn't want to give Ella the illusion that she was the real young lady of House Anthony.
Maria used one hand to push Ella's shoulder. "Where is David, call him here to meet us. Are you going to hide him? What qualifications do you have to do that? After all, you gave him something to eat and he listened to you, causing him to give up his company, his family, and his career to come here and live with you in a shabby house."
"I do not. That he volunteered to find me. That is love." Ella remained calm.
Mrs. Emma smirked. "Love? I think it's money. The last time, I gave you money, you didn't take it. Tell me, how much money does it take for you to leave my son?"
"Excuse me, auntie, money can't buy my self-respect, no matter how much it is. I love him, not for the money. At first, we had an agreement, but, the deal was canceled when we realized we had hearts for each other." Ella bit her lip.
"You mean you aren't the reason why David neglects his family and the company to follow you here?" Maria said.
Ella gritted her teeth, swallowing down the warmth in her heart, but she still couldn't hide the sadness on her face. But she is still polite to the elders. "I don't wanna argue with you. I know that no matter what I say you two won't trust me. But, I'll prove to you two that, I don't need Anthony's money, we'll be happy."
"I'm sure that you did something behind us. If you didn't, then why would my father-in-law, David, and Rika take your side?" Mrs. Emma glanced at Ella while speaking.
Mr. Stephen had heard the conversation between the three of them. In the house, Mr. Stephen saw them insult his daughter, he couldn't help but walk out. "Hey. You've gone too far."
"Why did you come here, you go inside and rest." Ella touched her father's hand.
"If I didn't come, you would be bullied." Mr. Stephen looked at her.
"Who bullies your daughter?" Mrs. Emma looks down on Mr. Stephen and his daughter. "Your daughter seduced my son. How could you yell at us?"
"Sorry. Your son goes to my house and they truly love each other. Why are you stopping?" Mr. Stephen was furious, shouting.
"Please come down, Father." Ella stroked her father's chest.
"Mom," David said.
They all looked in the direction of the voice.
"Can you stop behaving this way? Can we calmly talk?" David looked at his mother. "I love Ella and I decided to live with her. Ella is a good woman, why can't you see her good points?"
"That's the bad woman, she just wants your money," Maria said.
David glared at Maria. "I forbid you to insult my wife."
'But you can't leave your family, your company, and stay in this place.' Mrs. Emma tries to convince her son.
"I will leave if you agree to accept our love."
"Never."
"Then, I will stay here." David stepped closer to Ella and took her hand.
The face Mrs. Emma, full of anger, looked at Ella and yelled. "You once again witnessed me and my son arguing, because of you? Are you happy? You don't know what to do but watch?"
Ella pulled David's hand to a corner, not far from them. She speaks. "Go back to X city, don't make your mother angry."
"You come with me. Don't forget what you promised me." David reminded her.
"Don't worry. I won't forget. I'll be back later."
"Are you telling the truth?"
"Yes."
David smiled. "So, when are you coming back?"
"About a week from now, after I've sorted everything out here. This time, no matter what happens, I won't give up." Ella said in a firm tone.
"I will wait for you. If you break your promise, I will come to your house, and continue to disturb your life. And this time, even if you chase me, I will not go."
Ella smiled at David's childish words.
That evening, David did not return with Mrs. Emma and Maria, he drove alone.
His phone was connected to headphones because he wanted to talk to Ella.
"Why did you call me?" Ella's voice came from the other end of the line.
"Because I miss you," David said as he looked ahead.
Ella smiled softly. "We just said goodbye a few minutes ago."
David slowly opened his mouth. "Leaving you, I missed you."
Ella's heart trembled, and her breathing was a little quick. Those words made her feel very warm.
"Focus on driving."
"Yes. I know. After I get home, I'll call you again. I love you." David lowered his voice.
"I love you too."
David hung up the call, focused on looking ahead. The traffic light turned red, he stepped on the brake, and the car slowly came to a stop. While he waited, his fingers tapped the steering wheel lightly. The green light came on, and David started the car and accelerated.
Suddenly, a loud noise came from the ear, from far to near, and the sound became clearer and clearer. David turned his head to look, the light flashing. He felt tense, glaring at the two cars in the distance.
Two young men rode motorbikes at high speed on the road, in the middle of the crowded road, they kept increasing their speed, the car screeching, the smoke billowing out, scattered in the dusty rain.
Before David had time to react, there was a sudden sound of braking in front of him. He only saw in front of him countless lights flashing, tires rubbing against the road making a shrill sound, and his whole body began to wobble as if someone had been thrown into the air. When David saw everything again, he looked through the window and saw a motorcycle coming toward him.
The sound of the collision seemed to make his heart stop beating, his whole body seemed to be pressed down by something heavy, breathing was difficult, his head hit the steering wheel, and his head was temporarily blank, he seemed to hear the voice of the god of death.
David felt pain all over his body. The last bit of consciousness he had left reminded him of Ella. No, he must not die. He still owes her a grand wedding and a romantic honeymoon, and he promises to give her a fulfilling life. He tried to open the car door to get out but, his right hand was covered in blood and it was quite painful. He is powerless.
David tried to work with his left hand, but he heard outside incessant noises, someone banging on the door.... Then he heard nothing more.
A few passersby tried to open the door and take David to the hospital.
