Chapter 101: Never regret

Ch. 101 / 164 Sep 17, 2024

Ella snorted, trying not to cry.

"I'm sorry that there were times when I hurt you. But, this time, I decided that I wouldn't want to lose you."

With a hoarse voice, she said. "Can you say that word again?"

"I love you."

"Once again."

"I love you." David kissed her on the lips. "I think we should go home. Your father will be worried because we've been gone for so long."

"Yes." Ella giggled, holding his hand.

After dinner, David and Ella went for a walk, watching the lights of the town at night. They came to a riverbank and walked together under the falling foliage.

"Ella, how long have we known each other?" David asked her. One hand he put in his pocket, the other he held her hand.

Ella felt a little strange by his sudden question. But she still answered. "Almost two years, right? Do you remember the first time we met?"

"Of course, I remember. The first time we met was in the hospital." He looked up at the night sky.

"When you made that offer, I thought you were crazy." Ella giggled.

David also laughed with her. "At that time, I just wanted to find a woman to be my contract wife, other than that, I had no other purpose. I don't think I love you again. It was the fate of the two of us."

"Love me, do you regret it?" Ella stopped and asked the man beside her.

"Why do I regret it? On the contrary, it was the best thing in my life. There was a time when I hurt you, I feel guilty about it. But I hope you that only because I love you so much." David cupped her face with both of his hands. "I never regret knowing you and loving you."

Ella smiled.

David took out his phone and turned on his playlist. He plays a piece of music without lyrics on the piano. Then he and she danced to the music together.

Some passersby looked at them strangely, but some smiled, enjoying watching them dance.

David hugged her tightly, whispering. "Ella, I will never leave you, unless I die. I love you more than my life." He kissed her.

"Yes. I know." Ella buried her head in his chest.

"I want us to have a great wedding, I will make you the happiest bride. I owe you a wedding." He spoke to her lovingly.

"As long as you love me, that's enough," Ella whispered.

However, David still wanted to hold a solemn wedding ceremony for them.

Meanwhile in City X.

The car stopped in front of the company gate. From inside the car, a well-dressed woman got out. That is Mrs. Emma. Very rarely does she go to her son's company. This time she came, there must be something important. The staff members bowed in unison to the woman. No one dared to open their mouths, they were afraid of Mrs.'s majesty and angry face. Emma.

Key was cleaning, checking documents in David's office, when suddenly, the door was flung open, startling him.

Key turned around, stopped what he was doing, and looked towards the door. Seeing Mrs. Emma standing at the door with a sharp gaze, for some reason Key was suddenly scared. He had a bad premonition when she came here.

"Yes. Hello." Key said tremblingly. He felt sweat forming on his forehead even though the room was air-conditioned.

Mrs. Emma took a step closer to Key, asking. "Where is David now?" She learned of her son's disappearance. He didn't come home, and couldn't be reached by phone. She guessed that he had run away with Ella. Mrs. Emma goes to the company, asking Key to confirm it.

"I... this..." Key stammered. For that look, in his heart, he was extremely afraid.

"You are my son's faithful dog, don't tell me you don't know where he goes, what he does, with whom." Mrs. Emma said loudly.

Key struggled in thought. If he reveals David's whereabouts now, it means he betrayed David. But, if he doesn't tell, he doesn't know if it's safe for him to leave the company.

Key gulped and decided to speak. "The General Manager is with Miss. Ella."

The countenance of Mrs. Emma immediately turned black. She clenched her fists, trying to restrain herself from throwing things from the table to the ground.

"Where is her house?" Mrs. Emma asked softly, but her tone was cold.

"The town Z," Key replied. He prayed in his heart. 'General Manager, please forgive me. I didn't mean to betray you.'

Without saying another word, Mrs. Emma walked out of David's office.

For David, the days in Z-town were the happiest days of his life. Ella's father treats him very well, and neighbors chat friendly with him. David learned to grow vegetables, dig potatoes from the ground, and ride a horse. Things he hasn't experienced in the city.

Their happy life was short-lived. One afternoon, while David was at the farm, Ella was greeted by the sight of Mrs. Emma and Maria visit her suddenly.

Ella was quite shocked when she saw them from outside the entrance. However, she still politely greeted Mrs. Emma. "Mother..."

"Who is your mother? You are just my son's fake wife, don't call me mother arbitrarily. A lowly woman like you is not worthy to be the daughter-in-law of the Anthony family." Mrs. Emma looked at Ella scornfully, her words extremely malicious as if she wanted to kill the woman standing in front of her.

Ella bit her lip, her eyes slightly drooping. Her hands were intertwined, each sharp fingernail digging into her flesh.

Mrs. Emma continued. "David is at your house, isn't he? You promised me you would end your relationship with him. Now, why don't you do what you promised?"

Maria interjected. "You two are just fake husband and wife, so you are not David's wife. David's wife must be an aristocratic woman, not a lowly type of woman who just wants to make money from David."

Ella listened silently to the insults of her mother-in-law and Maria. She felt that at this moment, she was extremely humiliated. But she promised David that she would try, wouldn't give up.

"Mom, we love each other. Hope you can bless us." The trembling words that came out of Ella's mouth showed that she was very scared but still had to try to keep her composure.

Ella spoke softly, but in return was only anger from the other harsh mother-in-law, David's biological mother, the man she spent her youth in love with.
