Molly
Fuck Amy has more front than Walmart, asking for more money when she's about to become a millionaire any day now. Although I can't say that I'm surprised that's why I withdrew that extra fifty grand. I just wish that I had been wrong about her but once again she sinks to new lows.
It took everything in me not to knock her out when I heard her saying that she would keep Sophie and sell her to someone else. The bitch is crazy if she thinks that any of us would ever let that happen. As much as I despise giving her any money, I would give her my last to keep those kids safe.
Another thing that's pissed me off about her wanting more money is that I was the one who had to go out and sort it with her. When Tom and I had picked the money up from the bank I was so concerned with getting it to the farm safe that I forgot to tell him about the extra money that I had withdrawn and so he was stuck at that moment and now... well now I'm pretty sure Christian knows that it's my money or at the very least he knows that something is up. I didn't want him to know but now it may be too late.
We got back to the house about an hour ago and so far I haven't seen Christian. He's been busy getting Katie washed, dressed, and fed and I'm a little grateful for the time to try and figure things out. "It's going to be ok, Molls," Tom whispers.
"Do you think he knows? Do you think he's worked it out?" He shrugs his shoulders looking a little torn and I get it, this is his brother and I know that he doesn't like hiding things from them, not when it involves them anyway.
"Molls, things have changed between you two. He knows that he was wrong to treat you like he did including how he treated you about any money you spent."
I'm not sure what to say, he's right but still, I can't help but feel like I still want it to be kept a secret. "If you two were to make something together he would learn the truth anyway." Whoah. "I'm sorry, what?" Tom looks amused at my response but I'm a little taken aback. "Molls it's clear he has feelings for you and I know you must have noticed something by now, your not a stupid person."
"Yeah I have noticed that he's been different but he's been going through a lot and I just assumed that he wanted to put our feud or whatever you want to call it behind us so that he can concentrate on Katie and the kids." The truth is I've noticed it a lot and it's bringing out feelings in me that I don't know how to handle right now but I don't want to let on to Tom too much right now. I love Tom more than anything but if he knows everything that I'm thinking and feeling he will be like a dog with a bone.
"I know your lying but that's ok because I also know that you don't like lying to me and I know once you're ready you'll come to me." He has a cheeky smirk on his face that makes it impossible for me not to smile. The guy knows me too well. "I'm going to go see Katie for a bit but just think about what I have said Molls and think about the money... would it really be so bad if Chris knew?"
"Would it be so bad if Chris knew what?" I feel my whole body go rigid as Christian steps onto the porch. Oh fuck! Tom gives me an apologetic look before practically running inside the house. Thanks, Tom, you ass! I turn to face the backyard unsure of what to do or say.
I feel heat at my back just seconds before large hands rest on my shoulders and spin me around until I'm facing a confused-looking Christian. "Would it be so bad if I knew what, Molly?" He doesn't look pissed just curious but still, I already feel bad about the fact that I'm about to try and lie to him. Why do I feel bad? He's been nothing but an ass to me until just a few days ago. I shouldn't feel bad for what I'm about to do and yet I still do.
"It's nothing." I go to turn back around but he tightens his hold on my arms, it doesn't hurt just holds me in place causing me to inwardly curse. "How's Katie doing?" Maybe changing the subject will help. He smiles at my questions but his look makes it clear that he knows what I'm doing and he's not about to let it go and to be honest, I don't blame him not really, I would properly act the same if it was the other way round.
"She's doing great. Had a bath and I got her dressed in clean clothes. She also ate all her food and now my Dad's playing with her although I think she's going to be ready for a nap soon." The smile that fills my face at his answer is genuine. "I'm so glad you got her back, Chris. She belongs here with you and your family. you're going to be one incredible Dad to her."
A smile lights up his face and I can see that he appreciates my words but I'm only speaking the truth, regardless of what has gone on between us, he is a great Dad and I have always thought that. "Thank you, Molly. That means a lot and now that I have answered your question would you like to answer mine?" Oh well played chrsitian, well played!
"There's nothing to ans-" He stops me talking mid-sentence looking a little pissed now. "Don't lie to me, Molls, please... I can't... just please dont lie." His words are raw and hit something inside of me. He's practically pleading with me not to lie and fuck it's now the last thing that I want to do.
I take a deep breath and give him a quick nod. "The 50,000 that Amy is getting... the money is mine." He nods but doesn't seem that surprised. Maybe he had already worked it out. "I thought so, that's why I came out here. I wanted to ask you if it was and to thank you. I will pay you back, Molly, I don't know when it will be but I promise I will get the money back to you. I will also forever be grateful to you for doing this, I don't think you'll ever know how much it means to me."
"I don't want the money back, Chris. You having Kaite and your kids being healthy and happy with you and your family is payment enough for me." I mean every word. He doesn't say anything for a moment which gives me hope that maybe he doesn't know about the rest of the money. Of course, as if luck would have it the minute I finish thinking about it he brings it up once more.
"Will you tell me what else it is that I don't know? I'm pretty sure that you already figured out that I knew about the fifty grand so that means that there is still more that I don't know." Fuck he's not going to let this go and if I'm being honest with myself there's a part of me that still doesn't want him to know but with how he's being with me now and treating me, I'd be lying if I said that there's a part of me that doesn't want to keep lying to him.
I take a deep breath and swallow back a gasp when I feel something on my face. I look down and see Chrsitian running the back of his hand across my cheek. The touch is so gentle that I could easily get lost in it. "Molly there's nothing you need to hide from me. Whatever it is you can tell me. If you are worried about me getting mad I won't. I promise." It's clear he's being truthful and that just makes it even harder to hide this.
"The rest of the money... the one million dollars... that's my money too. I'm the one that got the money out of the bank, not Tom, that's why I had to go with him today." His hand drops from my face as he takes a step back and if this was any other situation the look on his face would make me laugh but right now I feel frozen to the spot. "Say that again?" He takes a step forward again, this time taking my hands in his. "All of the money for Katie is coming from me, not Tom." I feel my body shaking as I speak but there's also a part of me that feels slightly relieved that he knows and that I don't need to hide it anymore.
He doesn't say a word this time instead he brings one of his hands back up to my cheek and stares at me seeming lost for words which I get. He goes to speak just as the back door opens and Tom steps out onto the porch. "Chris. Mom just got to the ice cream shop but somehow she's managed to lose her back card. Dad's going to cancel it now but she needs someone to go down there. I offered to go but the kids are asking if you can go and have ice cream with them.
He nods before slowly dragging his eyes away from me. "Yeah, tell her I'll be five minutes." Tom disappears inside as Christian looks back toward me. "We'll talk when I get back, yeah?" His words are shaky and I know this is a lot for him to take in but I'm glad that as always he's putting his kids first.
Christian
I took Katie to the ice cream shop with me, yes I know she's too young to eat it but I wanted to surprise the kids and couldn't wait until we got back, plus I didn't want to have Katie out of my sight for too long. I'm still finding it hard to believe that she's actually with me, that she's actually mine. Of course, I won't feel completely settled until the forms have been signed but her just being with me is enough for now.
I'll never forget the look on my kid's faces when they saw their baby sister with me, it was priceless and forever embedded in my brain. We spent an hour enjoying our ice cream but I think the best part for my Mom and me was just watching the kids looking happy and relaxed. It feels like it's been forever since I saw that in them.
Molly stayed on my mind the whole time I was there and as we pull up outside of the house I feel myself getting more anxious to talk to her. To see her. To touch her. That girl has me whipped without even realizing it. I still can't get my head around what she's done. I don't even know how it's possible. Molly's a millionaire? It has floored me and I need to know more. I need to talk to her now.
I head straight for the kitchen and find Tom sitting at the table drinking a beer and looking a little lost. "Hey brother, you ok?" He nods but I'm not convinced. "Where's Molly?" I want to stay and talk to him to find out what's wrong but I also need to talk to her. He doesn't say anything for a moment and I get a nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach.
"Where's Molly, Tom?" He looks torn and it gets me more worried. "I promised that I wouldn't say anything." As he speaks my insides turn to a ball of nerves. "Tom?"
"She's not here." That pit of nerves in my stomach slowly tightens even more. "Ok. Where is she?" I want to think that she's popped to the store or something but I have a feeling that I'm very wrong. Tom runs his hand through his hair as he lets out a big sigh.
"She's gone, Chris. She's left." Fuck!
