Letting go

Chapter 100

Ch. 100 / 105 Feb 19, 2026

Molly

It's been two months since I told Christian about the baby and it's honestly been the best two weeks of my life. When I told him part of me knew that everything would be okay, he has said on several occasions that if it happened that we would be okay but still, there was a part of me that worried that he had changed his mind and that he wouldn't want this. Of course, I was wrong and I kind of feel a little guilty for having any doubt in him.

The day after I told him we told the rest of his family. We did tell Tom first on his own as he's my best friend and I felt that it was the right thing to do and thankfully Chris I was more than happy about it. As you can imagine his family was so insanely excited at the news of another baby coming into the family and I'd be lying if I said that I didn't cry for about an hour at the pure love that is in this family.

I never knew the love of a family growing up. My birth mother put me into the foster care system when I was two years old because she wanted to pursue her dream career as a model and apparently I was making it complicated for her. I don't remember how she treated me before she gave me up but from what I have read from my documents it sounds like she did what was needed to keep me alive but that's about it. There's no record of who my Dad is, all it states in my documents is that it was a one-night stand that my mother never spoke to again.

Growing up in the system was hard, I was never in a home or with a family for more than seven months. When I was finally able to leave the care system at eighteen I had lived with over forty families and in thirteen care homes. Don't get me wrong a lot of those careers were decent enough to me, I was always fed, warm, clean, and had all that I needed but the majority of them only took children for the cheek that came with them. Apparently fostering children makes for a pretty payday.

Along with living with way too many families I also lived in too many places which always made things that much harder for me. I struggled to settle anywhere, struggled to call anywhere home, struggled to lead a normal life, and more than anything struggled to make friends and care for people. I met Archie and Tom when I started high school.

I had been to so many different schools over the years that I had become very much accustomed to starting over and was never worried about starting over again. If anything, school for essential for me because it was the only thing in my life that was consistent. It didn't matter if I went to a different school in different areas the general routine was the same in them all and that was the only thing that was a constant in my life.

I had just moved to Florida from a tiny town in northern California, I had lived there for almost three months with a couple who most definitely only did it for the money. Well, that was until they were asked if they could foster twins but they only had room for two children at a time so my ass was out of that house so God dam fast that I'm surprised I didn't get whiplash. I was supposed to head to another foster home but there was no room in the local high school there and so I ended up with a couple in Florida and met Archie and Tom there.

I still remember the first day that I met them both. I was only at the school for a few minutes and still searching for my locker when I walked through a set of doors and in good old true Molly fashion I tripped over my own feet but instead of my face meeting the floor, it met Tom's chest as he caught me mid fall snd kept me upright. He quickly introduced himself and Archie to me and it turned out that my locker was right next to his so he insisted on walking me there and somehow, they never left me alone from there.

"With a smile like that on your face I hope it's me that you thinking about." I'm brought back to the present by Jack's voice as he comes to stand next to me as I stare out at the farm not actually looking at anything in particular. I came out to see lightning but stopped to smooth one of the cows that walked up to me and somehow ended up in my own little world. As his words finally reach my ears a laugh bubbles its way out of my throat. "How did you ever guess?" he chuckles as he wraps his arm around my shoulder and pulls me into his side.

"You ok, sweetheart?" I nod as I give him my best smile." Are you sure? I called you three times before you realized that I was even there." I wrap my arms around his waist and hug him then we both burst out laughing when we catch sight of Hunter chasing a pig around the pig pen, I don't know what he's trying to do but it's bringing us both a huge amount of entertainment. After a few minutes of laughter, Jack gently nutches me. "Any way you, what's going on?"

"I'm okay honestly, my mind just went on a wonder." He looks at me like he's trying to study me making me laugh. "And where is it that your mind went? Miss Molly dolly." I poke my tongue out at him as I watch Hunter as he starts heading our way. "I was just thinking about when I first met Tom and Archie. Do you know how we first met?" He shakes his head and so I tell him the story which results in him laughing at my expense. The guy seems to spend a lot of time doing that. "Fuck I love you,”

“Get your dirty paws off my girl you fucking raccoon!” Before I can turn around to face him I feel his hands land on my hips just, before I’m pulled away from Jack and into Chris, as soon as my back is flat to his chest he wraps his arms around my waist and rests his hands on my stomach.

"You ready, sweetheart?" I nod then he takes my hand in his and starts turning me around to face him. "Where you two running off to? I've got a lovely stack of horse shit that needs shoveling with your name on it, Chris. Jack laughs at Hunter's hope of palming off one of his morning jobs. "Yeah, good luck with that. We have a sonogram booked this morning to see the baby."

"Oh, don't you find out what you having today?" Jack's eyes light up like a child on Christmas morning. That boy loves the kids so much it's lovely to see. "Yeah, we do and we need to get going, or will be late." Jack soon shoos us off and heads towards the horse stable with Hunter.

Just twenty minutes later we are sat in the doctor's office and the nerves are starting to kick in. I'm not nervous to find out what we're having because I don't care about that. Boy or girl, I'll love the baby all the same. I'm just nervous about everything being okay, Life has been going so incredibly these past few months that I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I don't get much time to worry as we are soon called into the room and I'm in a gown and laying on the bed in just a few minutes. Chris comes to stand next to me and holds my hand looking just as nervous as me. The doctor we're seeing today isn't our usual one and for some reason, this makes me even more nervous which is stupid I know but I just can't help it.

He spends some time doing the usual checks as I lay here looking at the screen wondering what is what because I don't have a clue. "Is everything okay doc?" I feel relief when he asks because I'm starting to lose my mind here, I swear it doesn't usually take this long the doctor doesn't say anything and it has my senes spiking. "Doc?" I can hear how impainted Chris is getting. "Everything looks fine I just need to double-check something. hang tight I'll be right back."

Hang tight he says... hang tight, is he kidding me? "What's going on?" Chris looks at me and despite the reassuring smile he's got on his face the worry in his eyes is clear to see. "Everything's going to be fine baby." I'm close to snapping at him but I manage to hold it in. This isn't his fault and he is just as worried as me. Thankfully the doc is back pretty quick with a lady following right behind him.

"Hi there, my name is Jenny, I'm one of the doctors on call today. I'm just going to have a check of the sonogram and then I can explain what's going on. I will be as quick as possible." I give her my best smile and nod but inside I just want to scream at her to tell me. She spends a minute or so checking over the sonogram before she finally stops and turns to face us. The worry in my stomach settles slightly when she smiles. "What's going on, doc?" She looks at Chris and then back to me before turning the screen to face us. "Everything is fine... with both babies."

"I'm sorry what was that?" The words leave my mouth in a stutter while Chris just remains quiet as he stares at the screen. "Both babies are doing great." Chris seems to find his voice as he leans over more to see the screen more clearly. "How is this possible? We have already had one sonogram and there was only one baby?" The doc smiles as she presses a few buttons and pictures start coming out of the pinter. "Yes, I can see by the notes that only one baby is on record. A lot of the time with twins one twin will be smaller than the other one and if the small one is hiding behind the bigger one then it can be impossible to see it until it decides to come out and say hello."

I'm still lying here in shock barely taking in her words. Twins, we're having twins, holy shit balls! "Would you like to know what you're having?" I manage a nod along with Christian agreeing and she turns back to the screen. You are having two boys and they are identical twins." Somehow her saying that snaps me out of my daze and a ball of excitement fights with the nerves in my body and I find that I'm soon smiling along with Christian.

"Holy cow, in a few months we're gonna have five children." Christians's words make me laugh, I don't know why, maybe it's the shock but I spend a good minute laughing hard resulting in him joining me. "Jack is going to be so excited." He nods as he helps me sit up on the bed and we're handed our sonogram pictures. "Let's get back and tell everyone. Ohh, this is going to be fun!"
