Annette returned to Connor's villa after work. Dwayne said that Connor was resting upstairs.
Annette went upstairs hurriedly. She walked to the bedside and asked, "How are you today? Is your stomach still upset?"
Connor grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms.
"I'm fine. I'm just taking a break."
He did not mention what had happened in school. Annette thought for a moment and said, "You helped me again today."
"Well, not bad. It seems that Marcus did not steal my credit." Connor raised his eyebrows and asked, "Are you touched?"
"If you continue to be so frivolous, the touching feelings will be offset."
Connor smiled, "It's the first time I've heard that the feelings can be offset. If so, it would be worthless."
Annette shrugged and said, "Today, if not for the timely help from you and Marcus, I might have been scolded badly."
"Do you need me to help you deal with that woman in your office?"
Annette hesitated for a moment before saying, "I have fallen out with her. It should be difficult for me to continue working with her."
"I'll get someone to fire her," Connor said as he groped for his phone.
Annette held his hand and said, "Don't do that."
"Don't tell me you want to forgive her. Being indecisive is no different from being stupid."
"I have learned my lessons, and I don't intend to forgive her. I just don't want to trouble you because of her. I think staying in school is the greatest punishment and torture for her. After all, everyone in the school knows what kind of person she is now."
Connor nodded approvingly. "You are right."
Annette continued, "I know you are powerful, so I hope you can get her out of my office. Anyway, there are so many student instructors in our school. As long as we don't share the same office, we won't run into each other often. This way, she gets what she deserves and I don't have to worry about meeting her.
"Moreover, you are also responsible for it."
"Me? Why?"
"You rejected Matilda that day and hurt her feelings with those ruthless words."
Connor said with dissatisfaction, "If you insist on it, I'll have to say that it has something to do with you too."
"Me? What does it have to do with me? Matilda didn't pursue me, and I didn't reject her." Annette stared at Connor. How could he push the blame onto her?
"But I reject her because of you."
Connor reached out and poked her forehead.
Annette shook her head. "I won't be jealous. Don't flatter yourself."
Connor stared at her. "So many women have feelings for me, but you are an exception. They can't get me even if they confess, but you can. Do you want to try it?"
Annette blushed. "Why are we talking about this again?"
"I wonder why I can't win your heart."
Annette looked at Connor.
He thought that he couldn't win her heart.
But she felt that her heart seemed to be getting more and more out of control.
"Maybe we should talk about something else," Annette said as she got up from bed.
Connor pulled her and refused to let her go. "Stay with me."
"I know. I want to get a book to read. Are we going to lie here and stare at each other?"
"It's a good idea. Someone has studied it. If a man and a woman look into each other's eyes for one minute, they will likely fall for each other. Think about it carefully. Have you ever looked straight into my eyes before? That's why you have no feelings for me. Come on. Let's try it."
"I don't want to do it," Annette smiled. "Why are you looking through those random research?"
"Are you afraid that you will fall in love with me after looking into my eyes?"
Annette replied honestly, "Yes. You are such an outstanding man. I will fall in love with you without looking into your eyes."
"I never denied that I would fall in love with you. You are so outstanding, and many women love you. I feel insecure standing beside you. It is not your fault, but mine. So, don't use such a method to test me, okay?"
After that, Annette went to get the book.
Connor looked at her back and smiled, "Annette, you've fallen in love with me, haven't you?"
Annette paused as she was taking out a book from her bag. "I refuse to answer this question."
Connor spotted her subtle reaction.
He didn't need to ask more. In Annette's heart, she had an answer.
Connor had always been efficient. The matter that he had just discussed with Annette last night was confirmed the next morning.
Melissa was called to the principal's office. When she returned to the office, she began to pack her things silently.
Other people in the office were looking at her, but no one said anything.
Melissa packed up her things and left without a word.
After she left, Alanna wondered, "What's going on? Was Melissa fired?"
Sara shook her head. "Who knows? We'd better not meddle in others' private affairs."
Alanna looked at the door and did not say anything else.
Ten minutes later, when Alanna was about to go out, someone suddenly knocked on the door.
Alanna opened the door, and a student instructor from another department stood outside, holding a cardboard box in his hand.
Looking at Alanna, he smiled. "Alanna, long time no see."
Alanna was surprised. "Eden, why are you here?"
"It's my new office now." The man walked into the office and introduced himself, "Hello, my name is Eden."
Alanna walked to him and asked, "So, Melissa didn't resign but just moved to another office?"
"Yes."
Sara shrugged and smiled. "That's better for everyone. Otherwise, it would be quite torturous for us to face Melissa every day."
Alanna nodded. "You're right. Eden, Melissa's desk is over there."
"OK." Eden walked over and put down the box.
