His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 143

Ch. 143 / 264 Apr 07, 2026

In the evening, Connor heard that Darren had arranged for a male student instructor to work at Annette's office.

  His expression turned gloomy.

  "What's the matter with Darren?"

Annette asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"

"How could he put a man in your office?"

"He is just a colleague. You are overthinking."

Connor crossed his arms. "I'm worried. I will talk to Darren."

As he spoke, he was about to take out his phone.

Annette snatched his phone away. "Connor, Eden has a mate. He even showed us her photos today."

Connor said disapprovingly, "Even if he has a mate, they might be separated, just like you and Kyle."

"We are just colleagues. Moreover, Eden is not the type I like. I prefer taller guys."

Connor's eyebrows relaxed a little. He asked, "Is he short?"

"I'm not sure, but I think he is not tall enough," Annette said after recalling for a moment.

Connor asked, "Am I tall enough for you?"

Annette said with a smile, "Yes."

With her straightforward answer, Connor was a little worried. "You're not trying to brush me off, are you?"

"Why should I? Isn't Kyle a good example? You two are about the same height."

"I'm taller than him." Connor raised his eyebrows. "So am I better than him?"

  Annette said resignedly, "Of course."

She found that Connor was easy to coax and would be happy with just a few words.

On Friday afternoon, Connor came to give a lecture. Without Melissa, Alanna was still excited to see Connor.

In the afternoon, Alanna proposed to go early.

Eden agreed with her, but Annette opposed it firmly.

Sara waved her hand and said, "I'll go there at 2:40 pm."

Alanna and Eden decided to leave first.

At 2:40 pm, Annette and Sara walked to the basketball court together.

When they passed the girls' dormitory, Sara pointed to the crowd not far away and said, "Did something happen? Why are there so many students?"

Annette wondered, "Shouldn't the girls be at the basketball court?"

Sara pulled her arm and said, "Let's go take a look."

They went around the dormitory building and found that a girl was sitting on the edge of the roof in a daze.

Sara said anxiously, "What's going on?"

Someone heard Sara's voice and explained quickly, "Sara, her boyfriend cheated on her. She's probably gonna jump off the building."

Annette and Sara looked at each other and ran upstairs.

Annette stopped at the gate of the dormitory building and shouted to the students who were watching, "Hurry up and call the police. Ask the students who live on the first floor to go back and take out their bedding. All the boys present form a group of four and pull a quilt. Before the police and firefighters arrive, we must try our best to save her. If there are not enough boys, go and call more boys over."

Some students nodded, some made calls, and some ran back into the building.

When Annette and Sara came to the roof, three girls were standing there and leaning against each other trying to persuade the girl who was about to jump off the building.

A girl shouted, "Selina, just calm down. Don't scare us."

Annette and Sara walked to the three girls. Sara asked, "What's going on?"

"She didn't talk to us or allow us to approach her. She is desperate. We don't know what to do."

Annette tried to take two steps forward and said, "Selina, I am Annette. Can I talk to you?"

Selina looked up at the sky and said slowly, "Don't get any closer. Otherwise, I'll jump right now."

"OK. I'll stay right here. I just want to talk to you. You know what? I had the same experience and maybe we can talk about it."

Selina was silent for a moment. She then turned to look at Annette.

Annette smiled at her. "Why don't you come down first? It's dangerous up there."

Selina turned around and sat facing Annette. She would fall and be smashed to pieces if she leaned back.

"Annette, I know you want to save me, but don't bother lying to me."

"I didn't lie to you. It's not worth it to give up your life for a jerk."

"No one understands how I feel."

"I understand. You should have heard of my story. Everyone knew that my ex-boyfriend cheated on me."

"Your boyfriend has been chasing you ever since he cheated on you. However, my boyfriend told me that I could find a better one if I left him, and that bitch couldn't. It was their fault. Why was I abandoned? Next year, we will graduate. He promised me that he would marry me after graduation."

"That's right. You know that he did the wrong thing. You should live a better life and make him regret it instead of giving up your life. He will not remember you, nor will he feel sad about it. Why do you pay such a painful price for such a scumbag?"

Annette took two steps forward as she spoke to Selina. "Selina, just calm down and think about the consequences. You will see that this isn't worth it at all. Give me your hand. I will help you down."

Just as Annette finished her words, a roar came from downstairs. "Selina!"

Selina froze for a second. She turned around and looked downstairs.

Marcus was going upstairs with several school security guards.

Seeing the person downstairs, Selina was spooked.

Annette was worried that Selina's boyfriend would show up.

"Justin, you bastard! You let me down!"

Annette raised her hand and touched her forehead. It was indeed Selina's boyfriend.

Why would he come at such a time?
