His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 144

Ch. 144 / 264 Apr 07, 2026

"Selina, please! I'm begging you. Just give me some time. I tried, you know? But what can I do when I meet the love of my life?" Justin yelled downstairs.

"If you are in love with her, then what am I to you?" Selina cried sadly. "When you were courting me, you said that I was the most beautiful girl you have ever seen. How come you have a new relationship when you are about to graduate? What does that make me then? I've been fooled by you and your lies all this time!"

Annette, who was behind her, thought of how faithful Kyle was to her back then. She also thought of the day when she saw Kyle and Lena together with her own eyes.

She frowned slightly and thought, 'No way. If this continues, Selina will be losing control.'

Annette turned back and winked at Sara before walking forward quickly. She held Selina tightly at once, but Selina was in shock and struggled frantically.

Selina was sitting on the roof. As she struggled, she fell.

Annette was brought down by her. Sara had already run beside them, and she shouted. Just as she was about to reach out to pull them, a figure beside her beat her to it. He grabbed Annette's ankle.

Sara was in shock. She saw Marcus trying to pull Annette up.

However, he couldn't pull her up since Selina was dragging Annette down.

Selina struggled too hard, and Annette's hands could not withstand her weight. Annette had no choice but to let Selina slide away from her arms.

  Then she grabbed Selina's arm.

Selina's body was hanging in the air. Only then did she realize that she was going to die.

She panicked, grabbed Annette desperately, and shouted, "Annette, I don't want to die!"

Annette found it almost impossible to pull Selina, who was heavier than her. Annette could only grit her teeth and do her best.

Sara and the others rushed over to help, but they had no better ideas. They could only pull Marcus from behind with all their strength.

Sara shouted from behind, "Everyone, pull harder!"

Marcus roared, "My hands are sweaty! I can't hold on much longer."

Hearing his words, Selina shouted in fear while kicking her legs in the air, "Annette, don't let go! Please don't let go."

Annette had a bad feeling. She heard Marcus shouting, and she could sense Marcus' hands on her ankle moving backward because of the sweat.

Just as she felt that everything would be over, suddenly, another pair of hands reached out to grab her by the waistband and pulled her up.

Because of the help, Marcus could regain his strength.

Marcus shouted, "I'll count to three, and then pull together. One! Two! Three..."

Together, they pulled Annette and Selina up.

It wasn't until Annette sat limp back on the roof that she saw Connor across from her, looking cold.

He was on his way to the basketball court when a student ran up to Alanna and told her that Selina was going to jump and that Annette was trying to help her.

Upon hearing the student's words, Connor lost his cool.

When he reached the roof and heard Marcus say he was losing his grip on Annette, he had only one thought in his mind.

He would grab Annette. He would save her, even if he risked his life.

On no ground would he let Annette fall.

Now that he thought about it, he felt a lingering fear. What was he supposed to do if he did not make it in time?

Next to them, Selina came back to her senses. She lay on the ground and wailed.

Marcus stood up and walked to Selina. He said angrily, "If you are tired of your life, go somewhere to die quietly. Don't drag others down with you. Do you have any idea that you almost killed Annette?"

Annette shook her head at him.

"Annette, don't stop me. A woman like her deserves to be scolded. She wanted to die, didn't she? Then why did she shout that she didn't want to die anymore when she was about to fall? She was not responsible for her life, and she didn't think about her parents when doing so. She wanted to die, simply because some man dumped her. Didn't she deserve to die?"

Annette was silent. She didn't utter a word.

She thought, 'Well, what Marcus said actually made sense, and I'm sure everyone here thinks the same.'

Selina was supposed to be the center of attention.

Yet because of Connor's presence, everyone looked at him. It seemed that no one knew why he was here.

Hearing people's muttering, Annette looked at Connor, who was with a cold gaze. She felt guilty.

After all, she had been with Connor for so long and knew him well.

  He was mad, very mad.

He turned around, walked to Marcus, and coldly reprimanded, "Why were you so bold just now, risking your life to save someone? Was it worth it, just to save a woman who didn't want to live anymore? How am I supposed to feel if something happens to you?"

Marcus said righteously, "I did it for..."

Connor interrupted him, "I don't care. If there is a next time, you'll be in trouble. Do you hear me? Now cut the crap, help your teacher up, and go home."

There was a murmur around them.

"So, Marcus is from the Blood Moon Pack."

"I didn't know that before. No wonder Alpha Connor was so worried. He was here to save his brother."

"They said that the brothers from the Blood Moon Pack aren't on good terms. But they look alright to me."

  "Don't take rumors seriously."

  Marcus suddenly realized something.

He knew that Connor shut him down so that he wouldn't blabber.

Marcus walked to Annette, helped her up, and asked, "Annette, are you OK?"

Annette had just found her footing, and she felt her feet go weak.

"It's just that my heart is beating fast. But, I'm fine."

After saying that, she turned around and walked over to Selina.

"You should be glad that you see through him for what he is before you graduate. If he tells you he's in love with someone else after graduation when you're married, you'll be a real joke then. Now, do you still think all of this is worth it?"

Selina looked up at Annette and cried, "Annette... I'm so sorry. Thank you so much."
