Annette took a deep breath. For the first time, she realized how difficult it was to deliver food for Connor.
She walked to the door of the office. When Hari saw her, he quickly got up and said, "Ms. Hall, you are finally here. Mr. Norman has been waiting for you. Please come in."
When Annette pushed open the door and entered Connor's office, Connor's face darkened.
"You really enjoy chatting with Zachary. I called you more than an hour ago and you just arrived. Aren't you afraid that I will be hungry?"
Annette was not angry. She said, "It has nothing to do with Zachary. After you called, I ordered food for you and came out in less than ten minutes. But when I came to the gate of the company, I met the staff of the Training Department. I was taken to the Training Department and delayed for a while. Amanda sent me up."
"I think you didn't dare to come up and went to the Training Department to ask Amanda for help."
"Yeah, yeah. You're so smart. Come over and eat your lunch."
Connor got up and walked over. Seeing the food full of chili peppers, he raised his eyebrows slightly and looked at her.
Annette smiled and said, "I remember you saying that you can eat spicy food. To suit your tastes, I ordered more chili for you."
Annette sat down next to the sofa and stared at him, ready to see his twisted face after he ate all the spicy food.
But Connor seemed to be OK with it.
He kept eating as if it wasn't spicy at all.
Looking at his face, she frowned and could not help but ask, "So? Don't you think the food is spicy?"
He said elegantly, "You'll know if you try it."
Annette was puzzled. She scooped up some food and stuffed it into her mouth.
She only took a bite and instantly felt the spiciness rush up to her head.
She got up and ran out, pouring herself a glass of water to gulp down.
She returned to the office and said unhappily, "It's so spicy. Can't you feel it? Is there something wrong with your tongue?"
"I think it's okay."
"Didn't you say that you could only eat a little spicy food?"
Connor stared at her face and said, "So, you knew that I could only eat a little spicy food and asked someone to add more chili? Did you do it on purpose?"
Annette blinked. She was speechless.
"Annette, you are getting bolder and dare to mess with me."
"Didn't you say that you felt bored since no one dared to challenge you? I don't want you to be bored. That's why I spiced up your life. It's fine if you don't appreciate it." She shifted her gaze away from his face.
Connor continued, "I can eat spicy food. The reason why I don't usually eat it is that I don't want to get sweaty. But it's OK because today is pretty cool."
He looked at her proudly. "So, next time, you should come up with a better idea. Don't fiddle with the air-conditioner or add more chili to my food. You're quite bright. Why do you have to make yourself look stupid?"
Annette was stunned. She looked at him and asked, "How did you know about the air conditioner?"
"There are surveillance cameras in every corner of the university. Don't you know?"
Annette was speechless. "You checked the surveillance footage for such a small matter?"
Connor poked her forehead and said, "I was just curious. What did you do when you left suddenly that day? Then I found out your little trick."
Annette was filled with frustration.
Connor leaned back in his seat and asked, "Why did you go to see Zachary today?"
"Zachary broke up with Jennifer."
Connor said unhappily, "That doesn't explain why he needs to see you."
"I asked him to meet up. Jennifer called me and she wanted me to help her to get Zachary back, but I refused."
She told Connor about the relationship between Zachary and Jennifer. "I can't help her in this situation. I think Zachary deserves a better girl."
"You are not talking about yourself, right?"
Annette looked at Connor and said, "Why do I sense Jennifer's vibe from you?"
Connor snorted and said, "From your tone, it seems like you really dislike me. What? They just broke up and you want to get rid of me?"
Annette glared at him. "You are so boring. I haven't even started with you. If I wanted to be with Zachary, would I need to tell you all this? I already said that my feelings for Zachary are not what you think."
"It would be best," he got up and said. "Let's go. I will go back with you."
Annette looked at the time and asked, "Are we going back now?"
"Today is the weekend."
"But people are working overtime."
"They get paid for that, but I don't. Plus, I'm hungry."
He glanced at the takeout she had bought and said, "I don't like junk food."
Annette stood up and said, "I'll go downstairs first. I'll wait for you in the parking lot."
Connor then came out and left with a smile on his face.
In the middle of the night, Annette was sleeping. She suddenly heard a strange sound coming from the end of the bed.
She opened her eyes and looked at Connor, who was bent.
She turned on the light and looked at him. "Are you alright?"
Connor did not respond.
She got out of the blanket, crawled to his side, and looked at him. Before she could speak, she saw that his forehead was covered in sweat.
Annette quickly said, "Connor, what happened to you?"
It wasn't hot in the room, and why would he sweat so much?
Connor looked at her, and he put on a smile to comfort her. "It's nothing serious. I just have a stomach ache. Go and get Dwayne. Ask him to call the wolf pack's doctor over."
Annette hurriedly ran downstairs and called out for Dwayne.
The doctor arrived twenty minutes later.
After he checked Connor, he asked, "Alpha Connor, did you have spicy food today?"
Annette suddenly remembered the super spicy casserole she brought him.
Annette said hurriedly, "He ate a lot of chili in the afternoon, the food was very spicy."
Dwayne said in surprise, "Alpha Connor, you can't eat..."
"Alright, it's nothing." He interrupted Dwayne and looked at the doctor. "Just get me some medicine."
"Alpha Connor, you need to be on a drip."
"OK."
Annette sat at the side feeling guilty. She just wanted to prank him, but she did not expect it to become like this. She accidentally hurt him.
