His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 135

Ch. 135 / 264 Apr 07, 2026

Matilda didn't know that Connor was not looking at her, but at Annette behind her.

He turned to the bodyguards and said, "Go and stop the students who are rushing out."

  "Yes."

The bodyguards walked back to the basketball court.

Connor walked up to Matilda, his face still cold and ruthless.

"I was chatting with the head of the school and recommended the campus belle casually. If you like me and want to be my mate simply because of that, I will be more than happy to call him and ask him to replace you.

"If you want to be my mate, because you are coveting the title of the Blood Moon Pack's Luna, then you'd better stop fantasizing. Let me make it clear to you. You're not good enough to be my woman."

"That's not what I meant." Matilda shook her head and was about to cry. "You got me wrong. I like you because of who you are. I swear. I admire you so much."

Connor sneered, "Do you know what kind of person I am?"

Matilda took a deep breath. "You are handsome, gentle, kind, well-read, and a man admired."

"Are these what you like about me?"

  Matilda nodded.

"Then you chose the wrong guy. I can't live up to the standards you like. In fact, I'm a cold-blooded person, and I'm even cruel to those around me," he snorted coldly. Then he continued, "I advise you, young lady, not to be too ambitious. I will pretend that this did not happen. Don't be so cheeky again. I don't want to see you stop me and tell me how much you like me forcibly. You'll only embarrass yourself."

After he said that, he turned around and got into the car. The car slowly pulled away, and his bodyguards began to get in the cars.

Annette stood behind them and looked at the back of Matilda, who had been reprimanded. She felt bad for Matilda.

Annette thought, 'I've only known by now that Connor has such a sharp tongue.'

After looking at each other, Alanna and Melissa left together.

Students were already trickling out of the basketball court.

  Sara urged Annette to leave.

Annette walked over to Sara and walked a few steps with her. When she turned around, she saw Matilda in a daze and staggered among the students.

Frowning, Annette turned and pulled Matilda, who was in the middle of the road, to the side of the lawn.

  Matilda cried.

After Annette handed her two pieces of tissue, she left with Sara without saying anything.

Sara said, "Alpha Connor was so scary. When you talked to him, I almost thought he was just like us."

Annette said, "His words might be a bit harsh, but given what I know about him, he meant well. He just wanted to use those intimidating words to shatter his perfect image in the girl's mind and make her not be so obsessed with him."

Sara sighed, "Men like him are actually very reliable."

Back in the office, Alanna gulped down a large glass of water.

She took a deep breath and said, "You know what? If I were Matilda, I might not be able to show up in school anymore. That was so embarrassing."

Melissa nodded in agreement. "She was so reckless. Well, I have to admit that the way Alpha Connor turned serious was very scary."

Alanna muttered, "I wonder what kind of woman it takes to be worthy of such a man."

Beside them, Sara glanced at Annette.

Sara thought, 'I can't believe that I am the only one who knows the answer.

It's so interesting to be able to listen to their gossip instead of being part of it.'

Annette's phone rang. She got up, walked out of the office, and then glanced at her phone.

As expected, it was from Connor.

The corners of her lips curled up unconsciously as she picked up the phone. She said, "Hello."

"I'll get going. Leonard will pick you up later."

  "Alright."

She only said one word, and then they fell silent for a moment.

Connor said, "Was I good just now?"

"What? Yeah, I think so. All the students seemed thrilled at your lecture."

"I mean when I was facing the girl that had a crush on me, did I handle the situation well?"

"You were decisive. Thumbs-up," Annette replied.

"Then why didn't you say something nice about me?"

Annette was speechless. She thought, 'What do you mean? Am I supposed to praise you for turning someone down?

  You hurt her feelings, OK?'

"Is that necessary? You simply dealt with someone you decided to turn down, didn't you?"

"Are you saying that I was putting on a show for you? You don't give me enough credit. Back then, I saw no one but you. All I care about is you," Connor said.

  "What exactly is your point?"

"I want to tell you that I am a reliable guy. You silly girl. Bye."

Connor said and hung up the phone.

Annette was speechless. She thought, 'How childish!'

On Sunday morning, Annette received a call from a strange number. After she picked it up, she found that it was Jennifer.

She was surprised that Jennifer would call her, considering they didn't know each other very well.

  "Jennifer, what's the matter?"

  "Zachary broke up with me."

"What?" Annette exclaimed. Then she said, "What happened?"

"The last time we ate at his place, I asked you a lot of questions, so he has been giving me a hard time. I asked him to go to a movie this week, and he said he had to work late. I went to his office only to see him with a female subordinate together. They were chatting happily and looked so intimate. It was so obvious that something was going on between them. I got so mad, so I went up and hit her. Zachary defended her right in front of me, and he even said he wanted to break up with me! I'm sure Zachary has long been waiting for such a chance. Don't you think so, Ms. Hall? He did it on purpose, right?"

Annette was speechless for a second and then asked, "So, you hit her before finding out what was going on?"

"It was the weekend! And she was flirting with her superior! She deserves it!"

"Which part seemed suspicious to you? Because it was the weekend? Or because they were chatting?"

  "Both."

Annette seemed to know why Zachary wanted to break up with Jennifer.
