Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 99

Ch. 99 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Leah's POV

I turned around to face him, and I could see the pain in his eyes.

I couldn't take it anymore.

"Finn, don't do this to me," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "I don't know who you are. I don't know what has happened to you. I don't know who has sent you to me. But one thing I do know is that I will never ever hurt you."

"I know, Leah," Finn said in a quiet voice.

"But I can't trust you if you don't tell me who you really are."

"I don't know who I am, Leah," Finn replied with hands covering his head. "I tried to recall what happened to me... Trust me, I really tried. But I couldn't remember anything..."

"Finn, don't worry. Take your time. I'm here with you." I said in a soft voice. "But meanwhile, I don't want you to interfere with my life. Let me deal with my own issues. All I need is just some time. I promise, Finn. As soon as I'm done with Lucas, we'll leave this place together. Just you and me. We'll go wherever you want to go in the world."

Finn took a step forward, and I could feel my heart crumbling.

I wanted to stay with him. That was the only thing I wanted to do. He was like a force of nature, a dark hole or something. The more I struggled to pull myself away, the more I was attracted by him.

"Leah, it's all my fault. I should have listened to you. I shouldn't have taken you away to this place," Finn said, his voice breaking. "I will do whatever you ask me to do from now on."

He reached out to grab me, but this time, I didn't pull away. I could feel his arms around me, holding me tight.

For a moment, I let myself be held, feeling the warmth of his embrace.

I looked up at him, tears streaming down my face without any reason.

I didn't know why. Whenever I looked at Finn, my heart was throbbing.

"Are you going to kill me?" I mumbled in tears.

Finn looked surprised. He didn't say anything. Instead, he lowered his head to press his lips over my mouth.

Before I knew it, I was pressed against a table with Finn's weight on top of me.

"What are you doing, Finn?" I was panting heavily.

"You know what I'm doing. I'm pleasing you, Leah. Leah," Finn whispered to my ear, removing his shirt. "Isn't this what you want? Isn't this what you're paying for? I will please you, Leah. I'm very good at what I'm doing. That day next to the pool, I pleased you. Do you remember?"

Finn's lips butterflied all the way down my nape.

"Finn, don't..." I tried to curl up underneath his body, but my arms and legs were pinned to the surface of the table by him. I couldn't move at all.

"You don't need to move, Leah. I'll take good care of you." Finn said in a gentle voice.

"Finn, I didn't take you away from Sak Doyle for this..." I gasped.

When I mentioned Sak's name, Finn's body flinched a bit.

Then, he pressed himself over me again and said, "My brother has taught me everything about how to make a woman happy. Leah, tell me about your wildest fantasy and I'll make it come true."

"No, Finn... Don't..." I mumbled. My last defense was crushed when his lips touched the lower part of my navel. That was the most sensitive part of my body.

"Tell me to stop if you don't want this..." Finn mumbled as his lips glided lower down.

My loins were on fire.

I looked up.

The morning sunlight cast an eerie glow through the window as Finn lay there, pretending to be lost in the moment. I knew His mind, however, was a million miles away, consumed with fear and uncertainty.

I had been waiting for this moment for what felt like an eternity. The man I had been longing for a long time now was finally lying next to me, making love to me.

I had been dreaming about this moment for so long, but now that it was happening, it felt different than I had imagined.

Finn was holding me tightly, but I couldn't help but feel a slight disconnect. It was as if he was there physically, but his mind was somewhere else entirely.

I tried to ignore it and enjoyed the moment, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

As we moved together, I felt a surge of passion and love for him, but I couldn't help but notice that he seemed distant. His eyes, which had been locked with me earlier, were now looking away.

As the lovemaking continued, I began to wonder if he was really enjoying this. I could feel his body moving, but it felt mechanical, almost as if he was going through the motions.

After we finished, I lay there, cuddled up to him, feeling confused and a little hurt.

I couldn't help but wonder if he was just going through the motions, pretending to like me.

I wanted to talk to him, to ask him how he was feeling, but I just didn't want to ruin the moment.

Finn's POV

I didn't like this woman.

Not one bit.

But I couldn't bring myself to tell her that.

My brother was in her custody.

She asked Jalin to lock him up in the dungeon of this house and pretended that she wasn't aware of it.

She had a cruel sense of innocence and she used it to torture me.

Fear of losing my brother kept me from being honest with her.

So there I was, making love to a woman I didn't like, trying to pretend that I was enjoying every moment when in reality, I was counting down the minutes until it would be over.

My body moved in time with hers, but my mind was somewhere else entirely. I couldn't shake the feeling that I was betraying myself by pretending to feel something I didn't.

As I looked into her eyes, I saw the love and passion she felt for me, and I felt a pang of guilt.

Guilt for leading her on, guilt for not being honest, and guilt for not being able to reciprocate her feelings.

The more I felt guilty, the harder I pressed myself against her body.

The warehouse was filled with the sounds of our lovemaking, but to me, it was just noise.

Noise that couldn't drown out the fear and uncertainty that consumed me.

Eventually, it was over. I lay there, spent and empty, as she cuddled up to me. I knew I had to say something, but the fear held me back.

As she drifted off to sleep, I lay there, alone with my thoughts.

I had slept with so many customers before, but I had never ever felt so guilty afterward.

This shooting pain in my chest was like a knife, stabbing into my chest whenever I took a breath.

Why did I feel so painful?

When will be the end of this?

How could I end this agony?

When can I see my brother again?

I looked down at the woman who was sleeping in my arms. She looked so tiny and innocent, like a delicate flower petal. I could barely feel her weight on my chest.

If I placed my hands around her neck, just for one moment, she would die in her sleep without feeling anything.

And that would be the end of her life and I might be able to see my brother again.

As I stretched out my arms, trying to place them on her neck, she suddenly wrapped her arms around my chest.

"Finn," she muttered in her dream. "I love you."

My arms froze in the air.

Is this persistent pain in my chest... called love?
