Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 109

Ch. 109 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Lucas' POV

The hall of the Pine Creek mansion was a spectacle of light, music, and color.

Elegant couples swirled around the room, their fancy clothes and jewelry sparkling in the glow of the chandeliers.

I was impeccably dressed in a black tuxedo, drawing admiring glances from the ladies as always.

But as he made his way through the crowd, my eyes only locked on a stunning woman in jeans.

She looked so hopeless and vulnerable. For the first time in the past few months, she was alone, all by herself.

There weren't any doe-eyed Ardonis, male strippers, assholes wearing frameless glasses, or a fucking Lycan prince around her.

I had to seize the opportunity. I rubbed my hands together and grinned.

"Whatever is on your mind, don't do it, Alpha." Jorah, my Beta, said to me in a low voice.

"I like you better when you're on your annual leave, Jorah," I said.

"I wasn't around you when I was on my annual leave," Jorah argued.

"Yes. And that's exactly what I want you to do right now. Leave me alone." I said while I was walking toward my wife.

"Jalin sent me your divorce papers this morning again," Jorah followed me and said.

"Did you eat it?" I asked.

"Not really. I put them into a shredder and changed them into paper-mâché," Jorah replied.

"You've done a great job. Now go put that papier-mâché into your mouth, so you can shut up," I said.

Jorah shook his head violently and said, "That's not possible, Alpha. Please leave Miss Lewyn alone. She's the Vice President of our rival company. You can't just drag her upstairs and fuck her."

"Who said that I would take her upstairs?" I narrowed my eyes. I could smell the sweet scent of Leah in the air. She was so close.

"You're not a barbarian, Alpha." Jorah mumbled desperately.

"No. I'm just a husband who needs to fuck his wife," I said and grabbed Leah in my arms.

"...meet your future business partner on the Mediland Project!" Alpha Mick said to Leah while introducing me.

My wife, the one that I had been desperately trying to win back after our bitter separation.

"Put your hands off me!" Leah said, trying to break away from me, but got captured again by me.

I leaned down to look into her eyes, but all I could see was the coldness in her eyes, and the anger in the set of her jaw.

"What are you doing here? Where's Finn?" she snapped at me. Her voice was laced with venom.

"Glad to see you, too, Leah, my wife," I said, my deep voice rumbling with emotion. "I came here like everyone else for the Mediland Project. And I need to talk to you.

"Why do you need to talk to me? And answer me. Where is Finn?!" Leah looked crossed.

"I don't need a reason to talk to my wife. Now, stop making a scene and pretend to smile, Leah. You're making everybody nervous. I know you've got too much tension built up in you. You need to let it out. Let's go upstairs and sort it out," I smirked.

Jorah rolled his eyes at me.

Leah threw away my hands, crossed her arms, and said, "Well, I don't want to talk to you."

Having said that, she was trying to turn away from me.

I caught her arm, his grip firm but gentle. "Please, just hear me out."

Leah glared at me, her eyes flashing with fury. She looked so pretty and adorable. How could I let such a beautiful woman go in the past?

"I'm not going upstairs with you, Lucas. Give Finn back to me. And for the sake of Moon Goddess, sign the damn divorce papers!" Leah hissed with venom.

I took a deep breath, steeling myself.

The trick of dealing with a woman...

Well, I don't know shit about how to deal with a woman.

But I want to fuck Leah, so maybe I had to give it another try.

"I know you want a divorce, Leah, but I can't sign those papers, because Jorah changed them into papier-mâché." I pointed to Jorah and said.

"Yes, Miss Lewyn. I will not let Alpha sign the divorce papers. Not on my watch." Jorah lifted his head up and said.

"Jorah," Leah's voice became tender. "Tell me, where is Finn?"

Jorah immediately looked flattered. That fucking kid gets soft every time he's talking to a lady.

"Oh, Finn. He's locked up. I asked people to take care of him. He's safe. Don't worry," Jorah mumbled.

"I need him back, Jorah. Will you do that for me?" Leah batted her long eyelashes at Jorah, who immediately turned crimson.

Jorah rubbed his nose and said, "Well... It's better for him to be with us, Miss Lewyn. He's in danger..."

"Jorah, when I stare at you like this, it means you need to shut up." I glared at Jorah and snarled.

Jorah instantly panicked and flinched.

Leah lifted her head and stared at me with hatred. "Why are you so mean to that poor kid?! He's just a kid! He looks up to you as his elder brother! You can't just treat him like this!"

Jorah stuttered, "Miss Lewyn, I don't mind... Alpha Lucas is very kind to me. It's all my fault. I always talk when I need to shut up... Like right now... So this is me, shutting up."

I rubbed my forehead and said to Jorah, "Leave us right now. I will deal with her first and then I'll deal with you."

"Yes, Alpha," Jorah walked away right away.

Leah stared at Alpha Mick and said, "I don't know if we should share the Project with another company."

Mick smirked and said, "Things don't always happen according to our wishes, Miss Lewyn. For example, I asked you to wear a red dress for tonight's event, but you ended up showing up in jeans. It's not that I don't like jeans. It's just jeans are sloppy and they don't match this formal occasion."

"I'm not planning to stay here for long," Leah said in a cold, stern voice.

I liked her when she started talking about business. Her face got a bit serious and she looked completely different.

This woman was literally killing me. What did she do to me? I was completely head over heels because of her.

Alpha Mick gloated and said, "Miss Lewyn, I know you and Mr. Farrow are in a great dispute right now. The thing is, Mr. Farrow's Black Swing Investment has always been the unswerving support behind our family investment. My father, Alpha Lucas's dearest uncle, had always treated Lucas as the son that he had never got. The collaboration between our two families isn't cut off because of my father's sudden, mysterious death. So I have to say, unfortunately, you two have to figure out a way to put your dispute aside and try to work out a way to work together. So here's my proposal. I've prepared some entertainment for us upstairs. I hope both of you enjoy gambling because I just can't get enough of it."
