Leah's POV
Just when I was about to scream, the door behind me was pushed open by a cleaning lady.
She panicked when she saw me.
"I'm sorry, Lady. I thought this lavatory was empty..." she mumbled and tried to walk back.
I grabbed her arms and said, "Wait, did you see something in this room just now?"
"No... But the air conditioning must be malfunctioned. This lavatory is freezing. I need to call for maintenance," the lady stroked her arms and said.
Coldness. Yes. Bone-chilling coldness. It was just like the time I was in the SPA room.
All the lights went off and the air suddenly became cold.
"Did you lock the door of this lavatory?" I asked the cleaning lady.
She looked confused.
"I'm so sorry, Lady. But I didn't lock this door. This door was open. That's why I thought this lavatory was empty," she replied.
I bit my lips.
I had enough of this kind of supernatural bullshit. My life wasn't supposed to be like those poor heroines in a ghost story. I refused to be tortured by this kind of bullshit.
As I was thinking to myself, Alpha Mick showed up and said, "Aha, Miss Lewyn, you're here. We're waiting for you now. Come with me."
I was so terrified and paranoid that I almost grabbed Mick's arms.
He was surprised to see my reaction.
"Miss Lewyn, what happened? Your face is as pale as a ghost." Mick stared at me and said.
I didn't say anything. I couldn't really tell him that his lavatory was haunted. Nobody would believe that kind of bullshit.
Plus, I was the one who got haunted, not his lavatory. Apparently, this fucking ghost was following me everywhere I went.
At that time, my phone buzzed. I picked it up. It was Gean.
"Miss Lewyn, just to keep you updated. Damian has been locked up with his sister Uma in a dungeon by Alpha Mick. They tortured him and his sister to let them confess to what happened on that day. Both of them stated the truth that they met you, but neither of them claimed you were the assassin of Alpha Dire."
Damian didn't betray me. That was a relief. But now, I had to figure out a way to let Alpha Mick release the Jansens.
I hung up the call and gave a dark look at Mick.
"Come on. Let's go and play poker," I said.
As I stepped into the casino room, the first thing that hit me was the pungent smell of cigar smoke. The air was thick with it, and it clung to my clothes and hair.
The walls were painted in deep, rich colors like burgundy and navy blue, and the carpeting was plush and soft underfoot. The lighting was dim, casting a warm glow over the room.
The furnishings were all luxurious and expensive-looking. The chairs and couches were upholstered in rich leather, and the tables were made of polished wood.
Surprisingly, the decor of this casino room was tasteful, with elegant artwork and sculptures displayed throughout the room.
"I can tell that you like this room. You're old-fashioned, Miss Lewyn, just like my father," Mick said.
Of course, Alpha Dire decorated this room. I thought to myself. The rest of the mansion was the pathetic work of his son.
Several men were gathered around the tables, deep in concentration as they played their games of chance.
When I showed up at the table, all of them stood up. It seemed that they didn't expect to see a lady in this male locker room.
Lucas took his seat next to me. He was holding a cigar in one hand and a glass of whisky in the other.
"Have you ever played this game before, Leah? Do I need to explain the rules to you?" Lucas asked as the other people took their seats.
"What's the bet?" I stared at him and asked.
"Wow. Let's take it easy. One step at a time. How about you watching us play for a few rounds, and then we move on to talk about bets," Mick said.
I stared at Mick and asked, "What? You don't dare to raise your stake with girls?"
All the men in the room were staring at Mick, who looked awkward.
"Sure, if that's what you want, let's play and place our bet." Mick sat in front of me and said.
Then, he took a pause and displayed his signature sinister smile, "If you lose, Miss Lewyn, I need you to take off their clothes and walk downstairs to the hall, wearing absolutely nothing."
"What is this? Third grade?" Lucas frowned and narrowed his eyes.
"OK," I replied.
"Leah, are you sure...?" Lucas was shocked, holding my arms to stop me.
"Sure. If I lose, I will strip naked and walk downstairs in front of everyone." I said while staring at Mick. "But if I win, you will release Damian and his sister Uma."
"Interesting, Miss Lewyn," Mick grinned. "It seems that you're a very resourceful person. I know we are the same kind of people. But the thing is, my source told me that the Jasens intentionally concealed some vital facts about my father's death. I had no other option but to arrest them."
I stated in a cold voice, "Don't look for lame excuses for what you've done in Mediland. You've done a lot of dirty tricks in Mediland behind your father's back. He would be rolling in the grave right now if he knew that your soldiers had been snatching women from households for their entertainment. All these years, how many women have been abused by your soldiers? Just because they're rogues and Omegas, so they don't have the right to get justice?"
Mick crossed his fingers before his mouth and said, "Miss Lewyn, you know that what you've just said is pure slander without any concrete proof."
I looked into his eyes fearlessly and said, "Trust me, Alpha Mick, there will be proof. And there will be a day when everything will be settled. Now, let's focus on playing poker."
