Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 98

Ch. 98 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Leah's POV

"Are you sure about it, Leah?" Jalin asked.

"Yeah..." I nodded my head, feeling exhausted.

Jalin said quietly next to me. His gaze fixed on the wall, contemplating, as if he had just stumbled upon a secret that had eluded him for a long time. I could tell his mind was racing with the implications of what I just told him.

"Jalin... What's going on?" I lifted my head to look at him.

His chiseled jawline blocked my view. I couldn't meet his eyes.

Jalin looked down at me. His exterior remained calm and collected. He was trained to remain level-headed in the face of crisis and adversity, and this situation was no different.

"Leah, you look pale. It's going to take a while before Dr. Monk comes out. Why don't you go back to your bedroom and lie down for a bit?" Jalin said.

"No... I need to see Darren and make sure he's OK," I whispered.

At that time, I heard Lucas' voice from the end of the corridor, "Where's my wife?"

Jalin rolled his eyes and mumbled, "Here we go again."

He stood up, stared at Lucas, and asked, "Don't you have work to do as the Alpha of a pack, Farrow? Alpha Lucian is always busy."

"I've got a really good Beta. That's why I don't have to be busy as fuck," Lucas talked back.

Jalin looked as if he was about to bite Lucas' face off.

"Beat it, Cleary. I have to talk to my wife in private," Lucas said, trying to peel me off from Jalin by grabbing my arm.

"I don't want to talk to you! Leave me alone!" I struggled and held on to Jalin.

"You've heard her, Farrow. She doesn't want to talk to you. Take your hands off her right now before I cut them off." Jalin said in a cold, stern voice. He was pulling the other arm of mine and wouldn't let go of me.

As I was stuck in the middle of a vicious tug-of-war between two handsome, muscular men, the door of the treatment room opened.

Darren, patched by bandages and stitches, walked out of the room with the support of Dr. Monk,

As soon as he saw me being pulled by Jalin and Lucas, his face twisted in rage.

"You two! Put your hands off Leah right now!" Darren raised his voice and grabbed my waist, abruptly pulling me toward him.

"Oh, this is great," Dr. Monk looked at this and said in a detached voice. "Wait for me to call Finn, so we can grab Miss Lewyn's legs."

"Don't you think of grabbing my wife's leg, you stupid quack!" Lucas narrowed his eyes.

"Shut up, Farrow. Dr. Monk saved your life! You just don't know how to be decent, do you?!" Jalin roared.

"Both of you, shut up! Take your hands off Leah right now. Don't force me to fight both of you," Darren growled.

"You're a big talker, Swanson! Did you talk like that when you got smashed into the wall by a French tailor?" Lucas grinned.

"I don't know. I'm not the one who has to run around the world, looking for his wife, Farrow." Darren snarled.

"Both of you look pretty, girls. Now, let go of Leah before I bashed your heads together," Jalin shouted.

This time, both Lucas and Darren shouted, "Shut up! Cleary!"

With my eyes darting back and forth among these three men, I struggled to break free, but it was in vain. The air was thick with tension as all three men glared at one another. It was clear that all three of them were fueled by a burning desire to snatch me like a toy car or something. None of them were willing to back down.

At that time, I shouted in my Lycan voice, "Everybody, shut up and stop! Put your hands off me!"

All three of them immediately flinched and let go of me.

I dropped to the floor and was caught by a pair of strong, powerful hands.

"Let go of me!" I struggled and said in my Lycan voice. But to my surprise, this pair of hands just wouldn't let go of me.

No werewolf would be able to resist a Lycan's command unless he was a Lycan himself.

Just as I was about to push this person away, I found out that the person who caught me was Finn.

Without saying a word, Finn carried me in his arms and walked off the scene.

Leaning against Finn's chest, I felt so frustrated. Even the sound of his heartbeat couldn't calm me down.

"Finn, put me down right now!" I growled.

Finn didn't respond. He took me all the way to the warehouse at the dock and put me on the ground. Then, he closed the warehouse door.

I pushed him away and said, "What the hell?! Did you hear me? I asked you to put me down!"

"I've heard what you've said, but I didn't want those people to hurt you. They were pulling you apart..." Finn replied.

"By carrying me up like a toy and hiding me in a warehouse?!" I threw my hands and tried to walk out of the warehouse, but my way was blocked by Finn.

"What are you doing? Get out of my way!" I lifted my head to look at him.

He lowered his head and stretched out his hands, trying to hold me in his arms.

I didn't let him.

The warehouse was eerily quiet, and I could feel the cold, hard floor beneath my feet as I walked away from him.

My heart was heavy, and I could feel the tears threatening to spill over.

He called out to me, his voice pleading with me to stay.

"Please, Leah, don't go," he said.

I stopped in my tracks, my back turned to him, not wanting to face him.

The hurt, the pain, and the anger were all mixed up inside me, making it hard to think clearly.

"I don't like being taken away like this," I said, my voice barely audible.

I could feel him moving closer, his footsteps echoing in the cavernous space around us.

He reached out to touch my arm, but I pulled away, not wanting him to touch me.

"I'm sorry, Leah." he said, his desperation showing through in his voice. "I will never ever do it again. I know I'm stupid and I can't do anything right. Please don't be angry and be patient with me. I promise I will learn."
