Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 108

Ch. 108 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Leah's POV

Mick's mansion was located at Pine Creek.

It looked grotesquely tacky and unnecessarily extravagant.

The moment I stepped into the mansion, I knew I was in for an experience unlike any other.

The first thing that caught my eye was the gaudy chandelier hanging from the high ceiling in the grand foyer. It was so large that it seemed to overpower the entire room, and its crystal droplets glinted garishly in the sunlight that streamed through the stained-glass windows.

As I walked through the halls, I couldn't help but notice the abundance of gold everywhere - on the banisters, the doorknobs, and the frames of the paintings that hung on the walls. It was as if the owner of the mansion had an obsession with the precious metal. As I looked around, I couldn't help but feel as if the mansion was designed by someone with no sense of taste or restraint. It was as if they threw everything they could think of into the design, without any thought to how it would all fit together. The result was a tacky, over-the-top mess that left me feeling overwhelmed and a little bit queasy.

"Who's that woman in jeans? Is she a servant or something?" I heard a woman's voice from the crowd.

"No, she's the new VP of UniHealer. The million-dollar babe. Doesn't she look adorable?" another woman said.

"Why is she unaccompanied?" a woman asked.

At that time, I heard a familiar high-pitched voice, "That bitch's unaccompanied because she's got dumped. Again!"

I followed the voice and saw Clara.

She was so skinny that I couldn't even recognize her. After a few months of detox, she seemed to have lost two-thirds of her body mass.

As she stepped out of the grand staircase, her blue nightgown flowed behind her like a tumultuous wave.

She held her head high, her eyes scanning the room with an air of superiority. The way she moved, with each step deliberate and calculated, suggesting a level of confidence that bordered on arrogance. Her sharp features were accentuated by the low light, casting deep shadows beneath her cheekbones and highlighting the sharpness of her nose. Her lips were thin, pressed together in a scowl that seemed to be permanently etched on her face. As she made her way through the crowd, heads turned in her direction, but not in admiration. Her presence seemed to carry a weight of disdain as if the very air around her was poisoned with her bitterness.

"Let me introduce Miss Leah Lewyn to all of you, Ladies. That bitch is just an Omega, a total fucking bitch. She used black magic to charm my brother, but later she got rejected by him. And you know what? She immediately threw herself into the arms of His Highness Alpha Lucian. Then, this comic character got nominated as the new VP of the largest company in this kingdom. Now she's all alone, showing up her ugly face at this high-end party. Where's His Highness Alpha Lucian, Leah? He dumped you, right? Why are you wearing jeans, by the way? Are you too poor to afford a dress? Where are those designer dresses that you stole from others?" Clara spoke in clipped tones, each word delivered with a sharpness that cut through the soft murmur of the room.

But at that time, I heard people's humming voices -

"Ah, she's that brave woman who revealed the scandal of Alpha Kyle!"

"She looks so pretty. I thought Clara's sister-in-law was ugly!"

"Ugly? I'll pay millions of dollars to let my dermatologist turn me into her. Look at her, she's radiant!"

"I have never seen anyone who looks so stunning in jeans. Her figure is amazing! Look at those curves!"

"Totally gorgeous!"

"And she must be so smart to be the new Vice President of the UniHealer! It's a job to die for."

Feeling frustrated by people's discussion, Clara approached me with a force to be reckoned with.

She looked pissed.

"Ah, Clara. Look at you. When did you get released from the asylum? How are your parents doing? Are they still locked up?" I said in a cold voice.

"I can't say I'm happy to see you, Leah," Clara hissed with venom.

"You don't see me smiling at you, either." I stared at her and said.

Clara rolled her eyes and took up a glass of champagne from the table.

She took a sip of the champagne in the glass and said, "What are you doing here, Leah? Moving on to boyfriend number five? You know, for an experienced gold digger like you, you should show more commitment to what you're doing. You can't get those rich old men's attention by wearing a fucking Calvin Klein to this party."

"Well, there must be some misunderstanding. I'm here to place the bidding, Clara. What are you doing here? Have you found a job and become a businesswoman? Oh, I almost forgot. You don't have to find a job, because you're the daughter of Alpha. You were born into this world for stealing from your parents, wasting their hard-earned money on your pathetic bariatric surgery, and making other people's lives miserable!"

"You... You fucking bitch!" Clara smashed the glass in her hand and raised her voice. "Security?! Where's the security?! This woman doesn't have an invitation! Drag her out of this room right now! I don't want to see her fucking face! Throw her out!"

Security guards rushed forward and circled us.

I thought they would come forward and grab my arms, but instead, they were grabbing Clara's arms, trying to pull her away.

"What... What the fuck are you doing?! I'm Alpha Mick's cousin! I'm Clara Farrow! You've got the wrong person! Let go of me!" Clara struggled and her hair and dress were disarrayed.

A security guard said, "Sorry, Miss Farrow. Alpha Mick asked us to take you away. The doctor and nurses are looking for you. It's time to take medication."

"I'm not sick! I don't want to take medication! Let go of me, you stupid assholes!" Clara struggled violently.

Her dress was ripped and her bra was out. People looked at her with empathy. Some of them with less empathy took out their phones and took snapshots and video clips.

I took out my mobile and saw some of the photos and lips were already uploaded on Twitter.

A lot of people commented -

"Is this that crazy bitch in Macau? The one who stole her mother's jewelry?"

"Feed her some staple food. She looks pathetic."

"Mad bitch is back! Haha."

I stared at those cold comments and sighed. What Clara needed was help and understanding, not taunting and medication. She was trapped in her own hell and she couldn't get out. It must be torturing.

But all of a sudden, a thought struck me -

Why is Clara here? Alpha Mick clearly hasn't invited her. So that leaves only one possibility...

"Miss Lewyn, it's a pleasure to have you here." I heard Mick's nasty voice. "There's someone I would like you to meet. Come here and meet your future business partner on the Mediland Project!"
