Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 120

Ch. 120 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Leah's POV

"Mr. Farrow, I'm Miss Lewyn's bodyguard," Troy explained, trying to peel me off Lucas.

"You look way too pretty to be Leah's bodyguard. You're fired." Lucas stared at Troy and said.

"You can't fire Troy!" I protested, waving my arms in the air.

I hate being lifted up by him like this and he did it every time he saw me!

"I sure can. I'm your husband. I will assign a bodyguard to you." Lucas narrowed his eyes.

He looked so pathetic that I couldn't even bear pushing him away.

"I don't want your bodyguard. I want Troy! Now put me down, Lucas Farrow. This is so embarrassing." I said in a stern voice.

Lucas looked hurt.

It seemed that he was bashed by a bat right at his face or something.

"Leah... I... I..." He mumbled while looking into my eyes.

"What do you want from me?!" I stared back and said. "Now put me down, so I can pay for that damn car and walk away from here."

"I don't need a car. I need you," Lucas mumbled.

"Great. Why don't you two get a room and make out?" Sal rolled his eyes and said.

Troy gave him a dark look.

"What? Sorry for rolling my eyes so loudly. I've lived 85 years and I have never seen such a ridiculous thing. A woman tries to buy a car for her husband but refuses to be held by her husband."

"Well, you live and you learn, old tool," Troy said viciously. "Now go and fetch the catalog of the car. We've got a buying decision to make."

Grumbling something in a low voice, Sal walked away with Troy.

"Troy! Come back! I need you!" I raised my voice.

I couldn't believe that he would walk away just like that, leaving me being captured by Lucas.

"Beat it, pretty boy. Put one foot in front of the other and keep moving." Lucas said. "Or else I'll fire you."

"I'm sorry, Miss Lewyn. I really want to help you, but I love my job. It's either protecting you or going back to the Royal Squad. I hate the food there, so..." Troy looked back at me and moved away reluctantly. "I'm sure you're in good hands, Miss Lewyn."

"Good. Now there are only two of us." Lucas said as he sat on the sofa, putting me on his lap like a cat.

I tried to sneak away, but he caught me and pulled me back.

"Don't... Please, Leah. For once in your life. Stay put and sit with me," Lucas said, pressing me against his chest.

He buried his face into my hair.

"Are you sniffing me?" I asked.

"Yeah, I am." He said and inhaled the scent of me again. "You smell so good, Leah."

"I can't believe you took Finn away from me and now you want to fire Troy!" I said.

"Well, forgive me for not wanting my wife hanging out with toy boys," he mumbled.

"You can't just walk in here and sniff me. This is sick. I don't like being sniffed like this in public," I said.

"Next time I'll sniff you in my bedroom," Lucas said.

His breath was tickling the back of my neck.

I melted almost instantly. My body became a pool of jello.

He knew all the sensitive parts of my body and he just kept pulling dirty tricks like this.

"Why are you so annoying? Why can't you go look for another girl to sniff?"

"I can't help it, Leah. I don't want anyone else in the world. I only want you," Lucas kissed my nape gently.

"Stop kissing me! You can't just run into my life and tell everyone that you're my husband. I haven't decided to forgive you for what you've done to me," I said indignantly.

"Tell me what to do to win you back. I'll do everything for you." He said in a gentle voice.

He was killing me with that soft, velvet voice.

What happened to me? The last time I checked, I was supposed to hate him. But now, I was melting in his arms.

The world around me faded into oblivion as my eyes met his. His arms were strong and protective, cocooning me in a warm embrace that made my heart flutter. His eyes, oh those eyes, were gazing into mine with such depth and intensity that it felt like I was staring into a bottomless well of passion and affection. I could see the love he had for me in every fiber of his being. His body was tense with emotion, as though he was holding onto me for dear life. I could feel his heart beating in sync with mine, the rhythm of our love creating a symphony that was music to my ears.

"I hate you," I mumbled, but my body had already betrayed me.

"Don't say things like that, Leah. I know you still have feelings for me," he said.

"I can let you sit here and sniff me for a while," I said. "But you have to tell me where he is."

"Do you love him more than you love me?" Lucas asked.

"I love him and I hate you. So you do the math," I replied.

"But why are you sitting on my lap and being kissed by me now?" Lucas asked.

"Because you're an asshole!" I looked up at him and said.

He lowered his head as if he was about to kiss me.

I turned my head away, so his lips landed on my neck.

"He's in your lake house," he mumbled. "Jalin took him away for some tests this morning."

"And you let him do so?!" I pushed him a bit further away from me and scolded him.

"I'm not your boyfriend's keeper, Leah. Technically speaking, Jalin owns him," Lucas said.

"What do you mean?!" I raised my eyebrows.

"Don't you know? Jalin locked up Finn's brother. That fucker named Sak Doyle. He used Sak's life to threaten Finn. That's why Finn decided to go back to you." Lucas said in a plain, detached voice.
