Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 105

Ch. 105 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Leah's POV

"I wear nothing when I sweep the floor, Mr. Mayor," I replied, struggling to hold back the disgust. "I always bend down on the floor and wipe the floor on my knees. You know, nothing can do things better than this pair of hands."

The mayor dropped his cigar in his hand while staring at me with his mouth slightly open.

He swallowed the lump in his throat and said in a dry voice, "Miss Lewyn, I would give you everything you want if you clean the floor in my office right now. Just take off your clothes and get on your knees, clean this filthy floor of mine..."

"Really? Just cleaning the floor? Don't you want something extra?" I asked.

The mayor looked overwhelmed. He grabbed a feather duster in his hand and moved toward me.

"Miss Lewyn, show me some mercy. If you could use this duster to dust my carpet, I would really appreciate it. My carpet is so dirty. And you can use the handle to spank the cushions of mine. Spank it hard, will you?" the mayor said with saliva dripping down the corner of his mouth.

"Mr. Mayor, you're a naughty, naughty boy," I said.

"And I'm dirty. Dust me and spank me please!" the mayor begged.

I took the duster in my hand, stroking my fingers through the feathers, and asked, "And if I don't do what you want, what are you going to do?"

The mayor's face immediately darkened. He cleared his voice and said with a vicious look in his eyes, "Miss Lewyn, if you don't do what I ask you to do tonight, Mediland will be turned into a dumping site."

I broke the duster into two halves with my hands and threw them at the mayor.

"Did you record everything, Gean?" I lowered my head to talk to the necklace on my neck. It had a built-in microphone inside the largest diamond. Gean designed it for me to counteract this kind of situation.

"Yes, Miss Lewyn. Everything had been recorded, loud and clear," Gean said through the microphone. "I need 10 minutes for editing before posting it on Twitter."

The mayor looked terrified and said, "No! Don't do it! This is supposed to be a private conversation! I didn't mean to..."

"You're sexually harassing Miss Lewyn, who is a young, decent entrepreneur who has contributed millions of dollars of taxation in this city. May I remind you that this is the election year, Mr. Mayor," Gean's voice was cool and detached.

The mayor immediately kneeled on the floor and begged in tears, "I'm sorry, Miss Lewyn. I sometimes make inappropriate jokes! It's all my fault. Please give me a second chance to make everything right! I'll do everything!"

"Oh, really?" I sat on his chair behind the desk, watching him begging on the floor like a dog.

"Yes, everything!" the mayor said.

"Put a motion in the Council Meeting to make sure Mediland is categorized as a commercial estate permanently. Lower the taxation rate of UniHealer by 2% permanently, which I will donate to the Underprivileged Children Fund every year. Resign from this office after everything is done to keep your image of a decent statesman, so you can enjoy a quiet retirement without being recognized and thrown eggs at. Do you need a notepad to take down everything I've just said?" I crossed my arms and said.

"No, Miss Lewyn. Commercial estate. Lower the task. Resign. I'll do everything! Please, don't release the recording to the public. I've got a wife and kids at home. I've got grandchildren!" The mayor cried like a melting candle.

I rolled my eyes and stood up from his chair, walking toward the door.

"Oh, another thing. Quit smoking, you old jerk face. Your grandchildren are dying because of the secondhand smoke." I said and walked out of the door.

"What?" As I walked out of the elevator, I noticed that Gean was looking at me.

"I'm not surprised that you cut that old asshole a slack, Miss Lewyn," Gean said. "You're always too kind."

"Don't get me wrong. He will be trialed by the DA after he resigned for corruption. I can tell this isn't the first time that he tried to blackmail a businessman in this city." I shrugged and said. "Now, let's go to the charity party and give people money."

Gean smiled at me and took my arm, walking into the City Hall with me.

As we made their entrance into the grand ballroom, heads turned in unison to catch a glimpse of us.

He stood tall and confident, his chiseled jawline perfectly accentuated by his collar. His hair, the color of raven black, was styled impeccably, swept back from his forehead in a sleek, sophisticated manner. He wore a perfectly tailored black suit that hugged his broad shoulders and tapered in at the waist, highlighting his toned physique. The crisp white shirt beneath the suit was accented by a black bow tie, which added a touch of formality to his already impressive attire. His black leather shoes gleamed under the chandeliers, showcasing his impeccable taste.

I, who was walking by his side was no less impressive. My cascading locks of chestnut-colored hair framed a flawless complexion. I was wearing a floor-length, figure-hugging gown of shimmering gold. Its intricate beading caught the light as I moved. My dress plunged daringly low at the back, revealing my smooth, sun-kissed skin. The dress hugged my curves in all the right places, accentuating her hourglass figure. The diamond earrings I wore sparkled with every movement, and they were a matching diamond necklace that hung gracefully around my neck.

Together, we were a vision of opulence and grace, an embodiment of luxury and style. As we walked, heads turned and whispers rose up in admiration of their beauty and the expensive clothes they wore.

"Who is that woman?"

"You don't know her? She's the new VP of UniHealer!"

"She's a very successful businesswoman!"

"She looks so young and dazzling!"

"And that boy who's walking with him, isn't he gorgeous?"

Gean looked at me and said, "You're smiling, Miss Lewyn. I'm glad you're in a good mood tonight."

"I'm happy because, for the first time in my life, people recognize me as who I am. Not whom I married to," I said and looked up at Gean. "Why are you smiling?"

Gean replied in a gentle voice, "I'm smiling because we do make a lovely couple, Miss Lewyn."
