Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 121

Ch. 121 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Leah's POV

I sat frozen on Lucas' lap, staring at the void in front of me. My mind was trying to process the devastating news I had just received.

Jalin locked up Sak?! Is that why Finn was afraid of me? Is that why whenever he was with me, the only thing I could feel was that he would rather go somewhere else? How could Jalin do something like this behind my back?! Why does he always have to mingle with my life?

"Are you telling the truth?" My lips trembled as I asked Lucas.

"Jorah found out what happened. He's good for nothing, but he does get things done. Do you want to see the video clip he has taken?" Lucas asked.

"No... I don't want to see anything. I don't want to know anything." I murmured as I clenched my fists.

My body felt numb. My heart was heavy with the weight of betrayal.

I couldn't believe that the man I loved, the man who had been by my side, didn't actually love me back.

My fantasy of being loved as a human being, without the string of mating calls, was shattered.

Finn was with me because he was afraid of me.

The more I demanded his love, the more fear he felt about me.

I became a complete joke.

Lucas looked satisfied when he saw me like this.

"Leah, no one in this world would love you in the same way as I do. I'm your mate. Your second chance. We're inseparable. Everything is the Moon Goddess' will and the best arrangement. Can't you see that?" he said.

The realization hit me like a ton of bricks, crumbling my world and leaving me feeling lost and alone.

"I need to talk to Jalin right now," I said.

My face was blank, but my eyes betrayed the pain I was feeling inside.

I was glazing over, staring into nothingness as I tried to make sense of what had just happened.

My mind was a pile of twisted barbed wires.

It hurt.

I covered my head.

"Leah, do you need to lie down a bit?" Lucas' voice sounded tender and concerned.

Then, I felt that I was lifted up. Lucas took me in his arms and walked me out of the showroom.

The next thing I realized was I was placed in the backseat of his car, being pressed under his body.

"You're freezing cold, Leah." Lucas stroked me as he was trying to warm me up with his body temperature.

He removed his coat and wrapped me up like a dumpling, holding me tightly in his arms.

My mind raced with questions, wondering how I could have missed the signs, how I could have been so naive.

The thought of confronting Jalin filled me with dread.

I needed answers.

I needed to make Jalin look into my eyes and tell me what he had done to ruin my life.

I also needed him to tell me if my brother was behind all this.

I needed to know the truth, no matter how painful it may be.

But, no matter what the truth was, I knew that things would never be the same again. T

The trust that she had placed in Finn had been shattered, and I didn't know if she could ever fully trust anyone ever again.

The pain and betrayal I felt were etched into her soul, and I knew that it would take time to heal.

All I could do was try to pick up the pieces and move forward, one step at a time.

But before that...

"Tell me how much you love me, Lucas," I whispered, leaning against his chest.

I knew I was pathetic, but I desperately needed a man to tell me how much he needed me, so I wouldn't feel completely abandoned.

"I love you more than anything in the world, Leah," he whispered.

I lowered my head without saying anything.

Luca sighed and said, "I have never said anything like this before, but if telling you how much I love you means so much to you, I'll give it a try. Leah, I..."

"Lucas, you really don't have to..." I whispered.

"No, I want to do this. I owe this to you. Ever since you were gone, I've been consumed with the thoughts of you. Your laughter, your touch, your smell - all of it felt like a distant memory. I wondered if I would ever feel whole again. I missed the sound of your voice, the warmth of your embrace, the way you would hold my hand and reassure me that everything would be alright. Without you, the world seemed bleak and lifeless, a shadow of its former self."

"Oh, Lucas..." I wrapped my arms around him. His body was so warm and steady.

At that moment, nothing else mattered. The worries and fears that had been nagging at me all day vanished like mist in the sunlight. All that was left was us, wrapped up in each other's arms, lost in our own little world.

It was a moment I wished could last forever, a moment I knew I would cherish for the rest of my life. And as we cuddled, staring into each other's eyes, I knew that nothing could ever come between us.

Our bond, no matter how hard I tried to deny it, was unbreakable. In his arms, I felt safe, loved, and cherished. And I knew that no matter what life threw our way, we would always face it together. For in his embrace, I had found my home, my sanctuary, my forever.

Just as I felt head over heels, I suddenly heard Finn's voice in my mind -

"What about me? What about how I feel? Who am I to you?"

This string of questions was like a knife, stabbing into my chest over and over again.

I felt torn.

As Lucas was about to pull off my skirt, I pushed him away.

"No, Lucas. Not now." I said with composure, but my heart was pounding crazily in my chest.

"Leah, you don't understand. I need to have sex with you right now. Otherwise, I may literally die," Lucas said desperately.

"I know, Lucas. But I can't do it right now. It feels wrong," I whispered.

"Wrong?" Lucas looked exasperated. "There's nothing wrong with a husband fucking his wife, Leah. Now be a good girl and spread your legs. Let's fuck."
