Leah's POV
"Shut up, Mick. Shut the fuck up right now and go inside!" Lucas roared.
He had always been known to be a reserved person.
I had never heard him being so loud and mad at the same time.
"I want to kill him! I want to kill that fucking bastard!" I roared in tremendous pain.
"Leah, please, he's my cousin. Let me deal with it." Lucas said in a calm voice.
"Murderer! That fucking bastard!" I screamed and I was shocked by my own voice.
"Leah, if he's a murderer, he will be sentenced and punished by the law. You're not the law. So for fuck's sake, please hold your anger right now and leave the rest of it to me," Lucas said.
As I collapsed into Lucas' arms, my body was wracked with sobs.
Tears streamed down my face, leaving me gasping for air between sobs.
Lucas held me tightly, feeling the weight of my sorrow pressing against him.
My grief was palpable, heavy, and raw, and I could feel it seeping into his own being.
"That sinister bastard! I should have killed him on the day that he abducted Laura! He's a fucking serial killer! He murdered my friends!" I waved my arms angrily in the air. But it was in vain. Lucas wouldn't let go of me.
He held me into his car and slammed the door closed.
"Drive her to my place right now, Jorah. Let that fucking stripper boy stay with her. Tell him to do whatever he could, do not let Leah leave his sight. Do you understand what I mean?" I heard Lucas' voice.
"Yes, Alpha!" Jorah jumped on the driver's seat and started the engine. "But how are you going to come back?"
"I will hire a taxi. I'll fucking hitchhike. Drive, Jorah. Drive now!" Lucas tapped on the roof of the car.
Jorah immediately shut up and the car started moving forward.
I curled up in the back seat.
The cruelty of it all was too much for me to bear.
Two innocent people's lives were taken away from me. They were permanently gone. Wiped out of this world.
They would never be able to smile, to hold each other. And now I was left with nothing but a void where they had once been.
I didn't even have a chance to explain everything to Damian.
And I had thought that he betrayed me.
I would never be able to see his handsome face again, to hold his long and strong arms, to dance with him.
I heard some words of comfort from Jorah in my ear. His voice was soothing and gentle, but I was beyond consolation.
My grief was too great for any words to offer solace.
"...Miss Lewyn, you don't need to worry about it. Alpha will deal with it. He's a great man and he's very capable of handling things like this. You need to have some faith in Alpha. He's your husband and he's your last barrier of defense in this world. Even though the whole world collapsed, he will be standing there with you, holding your hands. That's why Moon Goddess assigns mates to us. Shit happens all the time, but your mate will always be with you..." As he was blabbing, he saw me from the rear mirror. He looked terrified when he saw me staring at him. "Urgh, I'm sorry, Miss Lewyn. Am I talking too much? I intend to keep talking when I feel nervous. Alpha hates me for this, but old habits die hard..."
"Jorah, where have you been in the past few days?" I asked with tears falling down.
Jorah replied nervously, "Me? I was on my annual leave. I hired a car and drove around, Miss Lewyn. I enjoy riding. I know it sounds ridiculous because my job is driving. But like what they said, change your job to your hobby, then you'll never work for one day in your life..."
"Lucas asked you to look for information about Finn's background, didn't he?" I grabbed the back of his seat and leaned forward.
"OK, Miss Lewyn. I'm really not supposed to be stuck in a car with you alone. Now it's really high time for me to shut up. If you ask me more questions, I will have no choice but not to answer them. Or I'll throw myself out of the window. I will do it, Miss Lewyn, because if Alpha knew that I told you that I was doing an investigation on Finn's background, he would throw me out of the car... Oh, shit! I have to stop talking right now!" Jorah started bashing his head with his hands.
"Hands on the wheel, Jorah!" I shouted.
Jorah immediately put both of his hands on the wheel.
He looked as if he was about to cry.
He used to be Lucas' driver when Lucsas' first Beta Basil was still alive. He knew everything about Lucas.
I wiped the tears off my face, climbed to the passenger seat, and buckled myself.
Jorah sighed and handed me a box of tissues from the glove box.
"Miss Lewyn, I know you're sad, but please don't ask me anything. I really can't tell you anything," he whispered.
My sobs began to subside.
My tears slowed, and I looked up at Jorah. My eyes were red and puffy.
"I don't know what to do," I blew my nose and said. My voice choked with emotion.
"Miss Lewyn, as I just said, Alpha will be there for you. You two will figure it out together," he said, holding my gaze. "You don't have to face this alone."
"Am I in great danger, Jorah?" I asked.
"No, Miss Lewyn. As long as you stay with Alpha, everything will be fine." Jorah said in a decisive voice.
"But how about Finn?" I asked. "Is he going to die because of me? Because if he will, you might just as well tell me right now. I can't go through this kind of pain all over again. I don't like people dying in my life, Jorah."
"I can't comment on that, Miss Lewyn. I can neither admit it nor deny it... Please... Cut me some slacks here. I really love my job... My job is everything to me. I can't afford to lose it," Jorah mumbled.
"Tell me what have you found out right now, Jorah. Or I'll jump out of the car window right now," I said.
