Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 118

Ch. 118 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Leah's POV

Cole stared at me and said, "Miss Lewyn, where were you on the day when Alpha Dire was killed?"

"Seriously?" I frowned. "You've tortured Uma and Damian for this, and now you come all the way to ask me the same question?"

Cole pulled a cruel smirk on his face and said, "Miss Lewyn, I personally hate extortion, because it's the most useless way of extracting information out of someone because when you torture someone, they pretty much tell you all kinds of bullshit you want them to say."

"So why did you torture Uma and Damian?!" I stared at him and hissed.

"Aha, don't get me wrong, Miss Lewyn." Cole's eyes narrowed into two thin lines. "I hate extortion, but I'm really fond of torturing people. I'm addicted to watching people collapse in front of me. That kind of thrill keeps me alive."

"What the fuck is wrong with you, Cole?! You're a fucking disgrace! I'm ashamed of you! Stop talking nonsense and fuck off!" Troy, again, was about to jump at his brother, but I managed to stop him again by pulling his arm.

Cole bowed slightly in front of me and said, "Miss Lewyn, I apologize for my brother's rudeness. He might look decent in that sleek uniform of his, but deep in his heart, he's just a wimpy little boy, crying his eyes out while begging for mercy when someone steps on his back. Now, I won't take more of your precious time, because I know you're very busy, but please don't let this be the last time we meet. I hope to see you again, Miss Lewyn. Maybe next time I'll invite you for a private guided tour of my torture chamber. Before that, try to stay alive."

As he said, he turned and walked away.

"Stop," I raised my voice and said.

Cole stopped without turning back.

"Yes, Miss Lewyn?" he said.

"I don't attack people from behind," I said in a calm, detached voice. "Otherwise, you're already a dead man now. Enjoy every second of your life in your torture chamber, because from now on, every breath you take will be granted by me."

Cole didn't turn back. His body shivered dramatically before he said, "I've just got a death threat from an Omega. And she's a whore. Wow, spooky."

Then, he dusted his uniform and walked away without looking back.

Troy wanted to chase him, but I pulled him back into the car.

"I can't believe that you let him walk away like that! He's such a nasty creature!" Troy protested indignantly.

"What are you going to do?" I asked.

Troy started the car reluctantly and mumbled, "I'm not sure. I'm thinking of bashing his head against the tombstone before pulling his arms off. Then, I might want to shove his arms into his ass. Do you have any better suggestions?"

"Keep driving, Troy. That's the only suggestion I can offer to you. This place is full of soldiers from Rock Growlers Pack."

"We've got Royal Guards..." Troy hissed.

"Whose duty is protecting me when there's a crisis instead of creating a riot," I said.

"You don't have to be afraid of Cole, Leah. He's a fucking asshole and I'm trained for dealing with assholes like him. I'm an expert on this..."

"Troy, he's your brother."

"We share the same last name, but that doesn't mean he isn't an asshole!"

"You can't kill your brother," I couldn't believe that I had to point out a fact like this.

"But he's evil, Leah! He's pure evil! He tortured stray cats for fun ever since he was little. When he asked me to do the same, I refused, and that's why he's been taunting me for being a sissy! I'm not weak! I just don't see the connection between torturing little animals and muscularity!"

"He's a fool who confused violence with muscularity, Troy. He needs intervention and help."

"Do you think that I've never tried to save him?! I've really tried, trust me! But it feels like he's totally possessed by a demon or something! Cole's beyond salvation, Leah. I ran away from my pack to become a driver for His Majesty for a reason. Like my mother said before she passed away, 'Your brother will end up hanging himself somewhere in a wood. By the time it happens, you go look for him and remove him from the tree, spat on his dead body on behalf of me, and then burn his body. Try to make sure there's no ash getting into the soil because it will be contaminated.' That's exactly what my mother's last words are. Could you even imagine what he has done to make his own mother hate him like this?!"

I rubbed my forehead.

I couldn't imagine and I wouldn't want to imagine.

Mick was a maniac and his Gamma was a twisted sadistic psychopath. Just when I thought things couldn't get even worse.

"He doesn't have anything, Leah. He's fucking bluffing. If he had evidence of you killing Alpha Dire, he would have turned it to His Majesty already," Troy grumbled.

I didn't say anything and lowered my head.

My phone was buzzing. It was Lucas calling.

I picked it up.

"Where are you right now?" he asked anxiously.

"I'm in the car. I was at the cemetery a moment ago and now I'm going to the car dealership." I replied patiently.

I got a slightly improved impression of him after what happened the other day at Mick's mansion.

"Why are you going to the car dealership? Do you want to buy cars? I've got plenty of cars. Come to my place. I'll take you to the garage and you can pick whatever you want," Lucas' voice sounded desperate.

"No. I don't need your car, Lucas. Your Rolls-Royce got stolen because of me. I have to buy you a new one."

"I've got 30 Rolls-Royce, Leah. I don't need you to buy me a car. I need you to come to my place right now." Lucas roared in a low voice.

"No," I said in a decisive voice. "Listen, Lucas, I really didn't have time for dealing with this right now. I don't want to owe anything to you. So accept that damn car and..."

"OK, I'll go and fetch you," Lucas said in a cold voice.

"No, you can't come and fetch me. You..." I didn't finish my sentence before he hung up on me.

I sighed and tossed my mobile to the side.

Feeling overwhelmed with pain and grief, I collapsed in the backseat of the car.

"I need to take a nap," I said to Troy. "Wake me up when we're there."

"Sure," Troy said and pressed a button. The curtains dropped and completely shut the outside world from me. The ambiance light illuminated the inside of the car, with artificial stars flickering on the ceiling.

I closed my eyes.
