Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 136

Ch. 136 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Jalin's POV

"I hate you!" Leah climbed into the helicopter by herself, ignoring my stretching-out helpful hand.

I took the blame obediently and unapologetically as always and withdrew my hand. Before I followed her into the helicopter, I looked back and saw that kid named Darren standing on the deck, wrapping a blanket around a trembling blonde girl.

That must be the reason why Leah is mad. I thought to myself. She is throwing a tantrum because that sapphire-eye young man finds a new girlfriend.

"And I want to fire him! I don't ever want to see him again!" Leah put on a set of headsets while shouting out loud at me.

I saw sparks in her eyes. She wanted to pretend to be cruel and heartless. But as always, she failed.

She was just such a sweet and innocent girl that she could never be able to hurt anyone.

That's why people like me exist. You know, people like me are friendly and polite all the time, but that doesn't stop us from killing bad people. In my case, the definition of "bad" involves breaking my precious Leah's heart and making her cry.

Detecting the worries in my eyes, Leah turned her head away and lifted her hands, trying to wipe off the tear marks on her face.

I handed her a tissue before taking my seat next to her. She took it and blew her nose so hard that it became red.

I put on my headset, only to hear her sobbing in the earphones.

I tapped the roof of the helicopter.

Before I shut the door closed, the helicopter had already taken off.

I looked down and saw Darren's figure quickly drifting away. He was holding that blonde girl so tightly that it almost crushed her.

At that time, I recognized that blonde girl.

Josephine Solis? That fucking bitch that had been abusing Leah for five years and was cast away by Lucas Farrow?

What the fuck she's doing down there with Darren?

No wonder Leah was crying like this. She has taken away Leah's beloved husband in the past and now she's taking Leah's boyfriend away.

This is outrageous.

"You're such a jerk, Jalin!" Having blown her nose again, Leah tossed the dirty tissue at me and blurted out.

Even though her voice sounded cranky in the earphones, it was still like a melody to me.

"Where's Sak Doyle? What have you done to him?! Did you lock him up in a dungeon to take control of Finn?! Where's Finn now?! I want to see him!" Leah stared at me. Her eyes were red, beaming with flames of anger.

"First of all, I have absolutely no idea of what you're talking about, Leah. Second, Finn is in the lakehouse right now. Troy is with him, so he is highly likely to be killing himself right now." I replied in a calm voice.

Like all the great relationships in the world, the art of serving Lycans builds on fifty shades of lies. And I am absolutely the master of this art.

Leah rubbed her eyes and looked into my eyes. She looked like a wounded little bear cub. If she was my sister, I would hug and kiss her.

But she isn't my sister. She's the sister of my Alpha. She's a Lycan Princess. And I remain to be her humble servant.

How I wish I could have a sister like her! I would lock her up in the highest tower in the world so that no man on Earth would see her.

She will be mine and mine only.

"You're lying. Darren told me everything that you've done to Finn!" Leah said indignantly.

"And that Darren boy is holding the woman that you hate the most in your life," I said in a subtle voice. "And you still believe all the bullshit he feeds you instead of investing some trust in poor old Jalin. I've been stabbed several times in my life, but man, this hurts."

Acting hurt is another trick when you try to take everything under control. You see, decent people all have sympathy. They can't help it. So it's really not that difficult to use this against them.

Leah's facial expression softened. I recognized this was a sign of weakness. So I leaned forward and held her shoulder around my arm.

Leah leaned her head against my chest and wept.

She mumbled, "I'm paranoid now. I don't know whom I'm supposed to trust. I need to find someone to trust, Jalin. I really do."

"You can always trust me, Leah. I will never ever hurt you." I lowered my head to sniff her hair. Gosh, she smelt so good. I just wanted to hug kiss and hug her like this for the rest of my life and life after that.

"The strangest thing happened today," Leah said in a low voice. She looked exhausted, which made me so upset. "Leo called me and asked me to visit him at the Redwood Mansion."

"I know. He called me to pick you up. We're now heading to the Mansion right now." I tried to sound casual, but I really couldn't.

I have an uncontrollable love for all Lycans, but man, I hate Leonard Lewyn.

There's one fucked-up child in every Lycan family and Leo is the worst of the worst.

That fucking punk is a down-to-earth science freak, lurking around in the darkest corner of every room while observing everyone as his experimental toy. His Highness Lucian used to describe his second younger brother as "a high-function anti-social psychopath". You see, even his own brother can't stand him.

After several explosion incidents in the labs at the Royal Academy, Leonard was sent away to a foreign boarding school. He might have blown up some labs overseas, but we're not sure, because we lost track of him.

When he returned a few years ago, holding prizes and awards in his hands, acting like a celebrated scholar and researcher, I immediately knew he was up to something.

But what I didn't know at that time was the crazy thought in his fucked-up mind was brewing something even more sinister than I could ever think of.

He wanted to tamper with werewolf's DNA to enhance their ability, so they can become Lycans.

Are you fucking kidding me?

I only serve one Lycan in my life and my life has become a fucked-up mess. And that crazy punk wants to make 100 of them to make my life 100 times harder.

I won't allow shit like that to happen. So that's why I secretly turned him in and told His Majesty and informed him about the fucking project he was working on.

Why would I know everything about his secret project?

Because at that time, Leo made the same mistake as every Lycan in the world -

He trusted me and told me everything.

And he had to pay for his stupity.
