After Noah ended the video call and walked out of the room, Samantha had just finished preparing dinner.
He calmly deleted the video call record from his phone and placed it on the coffee table.
Samantha invited him and Charlotte to the table to eat.
"Alex, the doctor said you need to take good care of your stomach, so I specially stewed some chicken soup for you. Drink more later."
It was strange.
She usually pampered him with delicious food and drinks.
How did he end up with a severe stomach condition?
Noah looked at the layer of yellow oil on the chicken soup and frowned slightly. His small eyebrows twisted into a knot, and a hint of disgust flashed deep in his eyes.
He hated meat.
Especially the meat of birds and animals.
He always felt a strong, unpleasant odor.
Just smelling that scent made him nauseous.
Seeing him not moving, Samantha wondered, "Why aren't you eating? Aren't you supposed to love chicken soup the most?"
Noah suppressed the urge to vomit, picked up the spoon, and took a sip.
An indescribable fragrance spread between his lips and teeth, lingering for a long time. After swallowing, the lips and teeth were still fragrant, with a unique taste of chicken combined with the lingering aroma of Astragalus.
The chicken soup tasted so good.
Noah drank three bowls in satisfaction.
Samantha looked at him in shock.
For a moment, she suspected that the little guy sitting in front of her had been replaced.
Because Alexander was picky, always complaining that her cooking was not good, and the food she made wasn't delicious.
Normally, he would at most drink half a bowl reassuringly.
But today, he actually drank three bowls.
Seeing Noah enjoying the soup so much, Charlotte couldn't help but bring her little head over, saying, "Brother, I want to drink too..."
Watching Charlotte's big, sparkling eyes, Noah's heart instantly softened.
He personally went to the kitchen and served her a bowl.
Charlotte shook her head, "No, I want you to feed me..."
Noah, like a sister-con, couldn't bear to refuse any request from Charlotte. He spoon-fed her, one spoon at a time.
After finishing the chicken soup happily, Charlotte leaned over and kissed Noah on the face.
"Brother, you’re so nice, I like you the most..."
"You..." Noah blushed.
What kind of quirks did these mother and daughter have? Did they both like casually kissing men?
"In the future, no kissing men casually!" Noah warned sternly. Seeing Samantha laughing on the side, he felt frustrated and added, "And you too! Women should be more reserved."
Samantha, inexplicably scolded, looked bewildered.
The atmosphere was strangely harmonious.
Suddenly, an urgent knocking on the door disrupted the harmony.
Samantha looked at Noah in confusion. "We just moved here. How could anyone know I live here?"
Noah shook his head, holding Charlotte's hand cautiously.
Samantha said, "You two go hide in the room. Don't come out no matter who calls you." Afraid he wouldn't agree, she added, "Behave. I'll be distracted if you're here."
After a moment of silence, Noah obediently took Charlotte's hand and returned to the room.
Once she made sure they were hidden, Samantha went to open the door.
Two faces that she would never forget appeared in her sight.
"Sarah... and Suzy..."
Sarah was wearing a luxurious black dress, exuding grace and nobility, with faint traces of the years on her face.
Suzy wore a light yellow butterfly dress, her face adorned with light makeup, enhancing her already stunning features.
Samantha watched the unwelcome guests warily. "How did you find this place?"
Suzy disdainfully scanned Samantha from head to toe, arrogantly demanding, "Where's my son? Hand him over."
Samantha looked at her as if she were insane. "Are you out of your mind? How would I know where your son is?" She tried to close the door, but Suzy kicked it open and slipped inside.
Samantha's face flushed with anger. She caught up and grabbed Suzy's arm. "Get out right now, or I won't be polite..."
Seeing her actually dare to fight with her precious daughter, Sarah became furious and delivered a hard slap to Samantha.
Samantha, unprepared, took the slap directly to her face. One side of her face swelled, and a sharp, burning pain accompanied by a hint of blood from the corner of her mouth.
Fueled by anger, Sarah swung for another slap.
This time, Samantha was prepared. She firmly grabbed Sarah's wrist and retaliated with a slap of her own.
"Slap!"
A crisp sound echoed.
Sarah covered her reddened face, staring at Samantha in disbelief, as if she had discovered something extraordinary.
Samantha shook her hand, still holding a hint of disgust on her face. "You really dirtied my hand. Looks like I need to disinfect it later."
Fury rushed to Sarah's head, and she attempted to tear into Samantha.
"You bitch, how dare you hit me! I'll make sure to..."
Samantha, however, didn't give her the chance. She delivered a kick to Sarah's abdomen.
"Oops!"
Caught off guard, Sarah took the blow and squatted on the ground, clutching her stomach, unable to get up.
Having dealt with Sarah, Samantha rushed to find Suzy.
Searching the master bedroom, Suzy found no one. Prepared to check the second bedroom, she encountered Samantha blocking her way. "Get lost. Don't even think about taking my son."
Samantha asserted confidently, "I've already told you, your son is not with me. I'm a person who knows my likes and dislikes. If I detest you, I equally detest your son. Don't even talk about snatching him; I find the mere sight of him repulsive."
Her words reached the ears of Noah in the adjacent bedroom. His pale face reflected the pain, and his lips trembled.
Miss Samantha claimed that she detested Suzy's son. If the investigation revealed that he wasn't Miss Samantha's son and was indeed Suzy's, then...
Contemplating this possibility, Noah's eyes darkened, and his whole body felt chilling.
Noticing his distress, Charlotte consoled him, thinking he was afraid. "Brother, don't be scared. I will protect you..."
Watching the gentle Charlotte in his arms, Noah felt even more desolate.
He couldn't bear to part with Miss Samantha and Charlotte.
Outside the room, Suzy and Samantha remained at a standoff.
"Do you think I'll believe you? If my son isn't here, why won't you let me in to search? You're clearly hiding something," Suzy accused.
Samantha was utterly speechless at her accusations.
She couldn't fathom where Suzy got the audacity to accuse her of harboring her son. Why would she bring back the enemy's son? It made no sense.
While the two sides were in a deadlock, the property management arrived.
Samantha's eyes lit up. "Call the police! They forcibly entered private property and even attacked me. I want to press charges..."
Suzy's delicate face twisted into a grimace. Fuming with anger, she hissed through clenched teeth, "Samantha Miller!"
Samantha raised her chin arrogantly, silently mouthing, "Goodbye."
After Suzy and Sarah were taken away by the property management, Samantha immediately began packing her bags.
Noah and Charlotte walked into the room hand in hand, witnessing Samantha hurriedly stuffing clothes into a suitcase. Puzzled, Charlotte asked, "Mommy, why are you packing? Are we moving? to a hotel?"
Samantha explained while continuing to pack, "Yes, we're moving! Mommy's enemies know about this place, and we can't stay here anymore!"
She wasn't afraid of Suzy, but she feared that Suzy might harm Charlotte and Alex.
Noah calmly inquired, "Where are we going now? A hotel?"
Samantha replied, "Let's stay at my best friend's place for a few days until we find a new place."
Initially, she had wanted to keep her return a secret. Now, it seemed that she had to reveal her whereabouts.
An hour later, Samantha appeared in front of Karen with her two children, dragging suitcases.
Seeing her sudden visit, Karen was momentarily stunned. A complex mix of emotions, including resentment, flashed in the depths of her eyes, swiftly hidden.
