Samantha had finished her work and, keeping an eye on the time, went to pick up Alexander and Charlotte from kindergarten.
To avoid worrying them, she deliberately wore a hat, covering the bandages on her head.
Since the results of the parent-child DNA test were revealed, when Noah saw Samantha again, his eyes turned warm. Unprecedented feelings of grievance and reluctance surrounded him.
He truly liked Miss Samantha.
He was so reluctant to part with her and Charlotte.
Seeing him crying, Samantha thought she had been exposed and quickly patted her head. When she realized the bandages were not visible, she relaxed and asked, "Why are you crying? Did you get bullied at kindergarten?"
Charlotte immediately chimed in, "No way! The other kids really like my brother. His piano playing is so beautiful; everyone envies him."
"Piano?"
Samantha was momentarily surprised. "Since when do you play the piano?"
She had no idea.
Noah, feeling guilty, lied, "Learned a bit from the TV."
Samantha didn't suspect anything and held their hands to leave.
On the way home, she asked them what dishes they wanted to eat, taking the opportunity to visit the supermarket with them.
As they approached the building, they ran into Justin.
Or rather, Justin deliberately waited for her downstairs.
At the first glance, Noah sounded the alarm, because this man looked at Miss Samantha differently than others.
A faint unease grew in his heart.
Samantha looked at Justin.
In just a few hours, he had become much haggard, his eyes filled with red blood vessels.
Step by step, like his legs were carrying a thousand pounds, Justin walked to Samantha. Habitually, he raised the corners of his mouth, and with a hoarse voice, called out, "Samantha."
The whole day today, his mind had been filled with thoughts of her.
He wondered if she would be very sad when she learned he was about to marry Karen.
Did she still have feelings for him?
Did she blame him for marrying someone else?
Watching his lonely figure, Samantha's eyes were moist, and her chest ached as if something was about to break apart.
Taking in her expression, Noah asked cautiously, "Mommy, do you like this uncle?"
Samantha wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, took a deep breath, and smiled, "That's all in the past! He's about to marry your godmother and become your godfather."
Her response didn't ease Noah's anxiety.
"But you still like him, right?"
Otherwise, why not directly answer his question?
For a moment, Samantha didn't know how to respond.
Logic told her she shouldn't like Justin anymore.
But her heart told her that Justin had always lived in her heart, never leaving.
Seeing her silence, Noah became more certain of his speculation and began to worry.
If Miss Samantha had someone in her heart.
Would she still marry his father?
Before he could express his concerns, Charlotte protested, "I don't want a godfather. I want my own daddy. Mommy, I want to go find Daddy. When is Daddy coming back?"
Samantha knew Charlotte had misunderstood. She adjusted her mood, squatted down, and rubbing her head, "Having a godfather doesn't conflict with having a daddy! They will both really like you."
At her words, Charlotte's eyes lit up, excitedly asking, "Will they buy me delicious food?"
Samantha smiled and nodded.
Charlotte finally felt secure, thinking about all the delicious food to come, and couldn't stop smiling.
However, Noah was not as easily fooled as she was.
After returning home, Samantha went to the kitchen to cook, and Noah locked himself in his room, immediately initiating a video call with Alexander.
Alexander answered almost instantly.
Noah couldn't wait to ask, "A man came to see Miss Samantha today. Do you know who he is?"
"A man?" Alexander looked puzzled. "Is he handsome?"
"Average, not as handsome as my father," Noah replied.
In his eyes, his father was the most handsome man in the world.
After thinking for a moment, Alexander shook his head. "The man you're talking about should be the one I saw yesterday. He seems to like my mommy, but I don't know him."
Frowning, Noah said with concern, "We need to pick up the pace, or Miss Samantha will be taken by another man."
"Yeah, yeah!" Alexander nodded vigorously. "What should we do? Tell me, I'll follow your lead."
Noah suggested, "Stick to the original plan. I'll send sweet messages to my father using Samantha's phone, and you speak well of Miss Samantha in front of my father. You're more eloquent than I am."
Alexander was confident in his speaking skills.
With confidence, he gave Noah a determined "OK."
...
At the dining table.
Watching Charlotte eat messily with an oily mouth, Noah, feeling unusually sweet inside, decided to speak up, "Mommy, when I grow up, can I marry Charlotte as my wife?"
He had it all figured out. If Miss Samantha couldn't marry his father in the end.
The only way to make her his mother was to marry Charlotte. Charlotte was exceptionally good-looking. She was like a mini version of Miss Samantha. Watching her, he felt joy in his heart.
Charlotte, not understanding what a wife was, blinked her watery eyes and innocently asked, "What is a wife?"
Noah pulled out a tissue, wiped away the oil stains from her mouth, and gently said, "A wife means being together forever, never separating. Do you want to be with me forever?"
Charlotte vigorously nodded, "Yes, when I grow up, I want to be my brother’s wife."
Relieved by her answer, Noah slightly sighed and affectionately rubbed her head.
