The understated luxury Maybach smoothly travels on the road.
Jade and Ethan sit in the back seat, making final preparations for the upcoming meeting.
Suddenly, with a ‘screech,’ the Maybach abruptly stops. Both are caught off guard, and their bodies lean forward, colliding with the back of the front seats.
Documents on their laps scatter all over.
Ethan's handsome face darkens. "What's going on?"
The Driver breaks out in a cold sweat, his obese body trembling uncontrollably. "Sir, someone ran a red light just now. It happened suddenly, although I've taken the most urgent measures, we still hit someone."
Ethan's eyes turn icy as he glances at Jade.
Jade understands immediately and gets out of the car to check.
Shortly after, Jade returns, head bowed, and solemnly says, "Sir, it's Miss Lila from Sky Group."
Ethan furrows his brows, "Samantha Miller?"
Jade nods, "She has fainted, and it seems she's injured."
After a moment of silence, Ethan opens the car door and steps out.
The road is busy, and due to the sudden traffic accident, congestion begins.
Samantha lies on the ground, her face pale as paper, blood flowing continuously from her thick hair.
The ground is stained red over a large area.
Ethan's heart pounds fiercely, an uncontrollable pain seizing him.
At this moment, traffic police arrive.
The driver immediately goes to negotiate with the traffic police.
Onlookers increase, and Jade hurriedly says to Ethan, "Sir, Miss Miller seems seriously injured. The ambulance is on its way, and the driver will handle things here. Let's go to the company first!"
If they don't leave now, the meeting will be delayed.
"Stupid woman!" Ethan scolds Samantha, then without hesitation, instructs Jade, "Drive to the hospital!"
Saying that, he bends down, picks up Samantha from the ground, and decisively gets into the car.
His unusual actions leave Jade stunned for a moment, then he quickly sits in the driver's seat and drives away.
Ten minutes later, Samantha is brought into the emergency room.
Jade rushes to the company to handle meeting matters.
Ethan waits outside the emergency room.
Looking at the red light outside the emergency room, he tightens his lips, his emotions complicated, and he struggles to catch his breath.
An hour later, the lights in the emergency room finally go out.
Samantha, sitting in a wheelchair, is pushed out of the emergency room. Her head is wrapped in a layer of white bandage, her face pale from excessive bleeding, looking limp.
Seeing her like this, an inexplicable anger rises in Ethan's chest, "There are many ways to die. Do you know how expensive my car is? You can't afford to pay, even if it costs you your life.”
Samantha's pale face instantly flushes red with anger. She glares at Ethan in grievance, "Do you have no sympathy at all? I'm in this state, and you're still so harsh."
Ethan sneers, lips curling, "What am I to you? Why should I have sympathy for you?"
Samantha is incited by anger, her chest heaving violently.
The newly treated wound on her forehead starts to ache again.
To avoid being infuriated to death, she decides to ignore him.
Seeing her silent, Ethan's anger intensifies, but he has nowhere to vent.
Sensing the tense atmosphere between them, the doctor quickly speaks to ease it, "Mr. Steele, Miss Miller's head injury has been treated. She'll be observed in the observation room for three hours. If everything is fine, she can leave. She can come back in three days for a bandage change."
"Stupid woman!" Though Ethan curses, he still follows the doctor's advice and pushes her into the observation room.
Samantha is in pain from his anger.
Unconsciously, she forgets the pain brought by Karen and Justin.
She curses Ethan in her heart repeatedly. She wonders how Suzy can endure him. If it were her, she would definitely not be able to stand him for a day.
Ethan pushed Samantha to the bedside, bent down to prepare to lift her onto the bed, but Samantha avoided him with disdain, saying, "I just have a head injury, my legs are not disabled. I can do it myself."
The surrounding air suddenly turned cold. Ethan gave her a gloomy look, pursed his lips, and said, "Good, so you won't dirty my clothes."
Samantha: "..."
She really, really wanted to drive Ethan away.
However, thinking of her purpose in getting close to him, and her grandfather's illness that still required him to find Nick Huston, she had to suppress all her dissatisfaction and anger. She used the wheelchair handles to carefully lift herself onto the bed.
Ethan sat down beside the bed, "Are you colorblind? Don't you look at traffic lights when walking?"
Samantha didn't want to bother with him, turned around, facing away from him.
If it were any other time, she could ignore his sarcasm and try to please him.
But today, she really wasn't in the mood.
Ethan's expression became even more unpleasant, "Am I talking to a mute?!"
Samantha still ignored him.
A layer of hostility spread across Ethan's face. He adjusted his tie to dispel the displeasure.
Just as the atmosphere was about to become tense, a sudden ringtone broke the silence.
Samantha took out her phone and glanced at it.
The call was from Karen.
Looking at the flashing name on the screen, Samantha didn't answer, letting it ring.
After a moment, the ringing stopped.
The phone interface showed ten missed calls.
Three from Justin, seven from Karen.
Samantha, exhausted, closed her eyes, wanting to forget Justin and Karen. However, images of Karen getting out of Justin's car and the kiss marks on her neck kept flashing in her mind.
Her heart twisted in pain.
Next, Karen made several more calls, but Samantha still didn't answer.
The three-hour observation time quickly passed.
Ethan drove Samantha home, showing a rare moment of kindness, "Since you're injured, take good care of yourself at home..."
Rarely ever hearing such nice things from him, Samantha didn't even get a chance to feel touched before he hit her with, "So you won't spread your illness to me and Noah."
Samantha couldn't endure, and retorted, "It's just an injury. I won't infect anyone."
She was really infuriated.
Isn't Ethan supposed to be a cool and aloof male god?
With such a venomous mouth, how is he cool?
Ethan said confidently, "If that's the case, then I won't give you a break."
"..." Samantha stopped talking completely.
She turned around, angrily staring at the scenery outside the car.
Ethan may have a sharp tongue, but he still escorted Samantha back to her residence.
Samantha looked at the neighborhood outside, opened the car door, and got out.
Ethan didn't linger, immediately starting the car and leaving.
Samantha stood at the entrance of the neighborhood and flagged down a taxi.
This is where she stayed when she first returned to England.
She now lived in Karen's house.
Despite harboring resentment from this morning's incident, she was never one to evade or retreat. When it was time to face things, she had to face them.
Little did she know that Ethan, who hadn't gone far, saw everything through the rearview mirror.
