Chapter 110 I didn't kill her
Rachel's POV
I got up from the floor, dusting the back of my clothes a bit before following the woman out of the cell.
All I could think about was how my life was going to be like if I actually went to court and was pronounced guilty.
Just a few hours in prison, and I already had a huge hand mark on my face... How was my life going to be like after I was convicted?
I looked up to see the female officer leading me through an iron door.
"Get in..." She said opening the door wide for me making no sign of getting in also.
Could this be it? I bowed my head as I got in, too embarrassed to raise up my face to anyone on the room, even if they were the ones that would finally end me.
Maybe I was right after all and Lana planned all of these just to get rid of me in a more ' legal manner '
Was this how I was going to die? In a police station for a crime that was just too stupid? I should have just died months ago by the bridge when I had the chance, at least it would mean a more worthy death than..
" Holy shit, Rachel! "
My eyes perked up as I heard a family voice call my name, I slowly rose my head up to see a familiar face, her eyes filled with tears as she walked towards me.
"Oh Rachel..." Marina cupped my face in her hands, her tears slipping down from her eyes as she stared at me. "Who... Who did this to you? You've only been here for how long and you already have a slap mark?" She asked trying her best to laugh, but her lips kept trembling.
"Marina" I hugged her tightly as soon as the shock of seeing her wore off.
The same female officer that brought me out of the cell suddenly coughed and the next thing I knew she was using a baton to separate me and Marina. " Excuse me Ms, you can't touch". She said flashing Marina a wicked smile, which earned a glare from the latter.
" It's alright, we can... We can just talk ". I said with a sniffle glancing at the table and two chairs in the middle of the room.
The table separated the chairs so much, even if I stretched my hands I wouldn't be able to reach Marina's mine.
" She is just a suspect yet you guys are already treating her like a criminal". Marina said still glaring at the female officer, her anger evident in her tone. "
The officer snorted taking a step towards Marina who didn't even budge. " Mind the way you speak to me young lady, or you might end up here with your friend".
" Arina come on". I urged tapping at the chair.
I could see that she was already trying to hard to bite back her remark and for that I was grateful.
" After this, you know after my friend is free from this..." Marina pointed at me before returning her gaze to the female officer. " I'll come back here, and then sue you for harassment, make my words, because I sure as hell have already marked your face, and I don't forget a face". She threatened giving the woman last glance before walking towards me and taking a seat on the only other chair available, opposite mine.
"Hey mind the way you speak here, in case you've forgotten, I'm still on here and that lady..."
I looked back to the officer direction and noticed that shs was no longer there. The last time I saw her face, her jaw was clenched so tight it looked like she was going to strike Marina at any time.
" Where's the lady?" I asked looking back at Marina who rolled her eyes.
I shook my head, she obviously did not understand the severity of the situation, I also didn't understand it at first... That was until I was given a slap that almost knocked all my senses out of me.
" Arina am serious. " I stated my face grim. " If you keep talking to her anyhow she may get angry".
Marina rolled her eyes again, before pursing her lips together "Yeah, even if she get's angry what can she do to me..."
She was getting this all wrong.
" That's the point. She can do nothing to you, but she can make my life miserable here ". I stated dragging each word.
" Your life here? Rachel, you're not staying here for a second longer after I leave. I'm getting you out of here". She said with the glint of determination in her eyes.
I smiled shaking my head.
If only I didn't know how serious the accusation laid on me was, I would've actually believed what she said.
" Anyways, how did you even know I was here? " I asked after a few moments of silence.
Marina expression transformed from one of confusion to one of surprise.
"You don't know?" She asked shoving her hand into her pocket bringing out her phone out.
" I don't... What don't I know?" My brows knitted together as I leaned a little to the side so I could check what Marina was browsing on her phone.
" Here... " Marina said before I could successfully lean down. She pushed the phone as close to me as she could and I squinted trying to get the words written.
"Fucking fuck". I cursed when I saw what was written.
"This is... How was this... "
Lana's death was already on the news, and the worst part was that they had taken me to be the true murderer!
" I was just as shocked when I saw the news about an hour ago, " Marina clarified nodding my head.
My mouth just opened widely in wonder.
How is this already on the news?
Marina took back her phone, turning it off before placing it on the table" How did everything even happen? Last thing I remembered was leaving the sleeping you this morning and now this?"
" I wish I knew." I muttered looking around.
The room me and Marina were in right now was a rusty looking small one, with only one furniture and that was the furniture in between Marina and I.
" Rachel come on, my lawyers are on their way but I need to know how this happened... " She leaned in as close as the huge table allowed. "Or, did you... Did you really kill her? " She half whispering asked and I scoffed in surprise.
" What no! " I denied shaking my head firmly. " I didn't kill Marina, for fuck sake if I did I would not be here right now. "
Why would I kill someone only to wake up the next morning and suddenly become the prime suspect? Hell no.
If I murdered that bitch I would have made sure all evidence that pointed to me were cancelled, and I would have a lot of alibis.
But I didn't kill her, I didn't. I suddenly moved closer.
"I didn't kill Marina, you just got to believe me Marina." I said desperately.
If there was anyone possible of getting me out of here, that was Marina, that was if she was willing to use her long lost connections on me.
"I know Rachel..." She smiled nodding her head. "I know you didn't do it. If you did there was no way I wouldn't know by know by now, you... You would have told me right?" She asked suspiciously and I nodded.
Of course if I killed Lana I would have told her. She would have to be my number one alibi with the police, so she would have definitely known.
" It's alright, my lawyers are coming and... "
" Sir you can't go in there". I heard the sound of argument coming from the other side door and my eyes went there.
What, no who was there?
"This is wrong and not right!" They woman said again, but whoever was at that door did not seem to listen.
"Sir, sir..." Before the female officer could call the sir again, the door was barged opened and my eyes met with the last peron I wanted to see at this moment.
"What are you doing here Ethan!"
