Chapter 107 Something suspicious
Marina's POV
"Why the hell was she arrested?" I asked for the tenth time as Mark drove towards the police station.
I still couldn't believe my ears.
Rachel was in a damn prison!
"I think the question you ought to be asking here, is how is Lana dead" Mark remarked from the driver's chair and I glared at him.
"Do you think I haven't thought about that?"
I had, but even if she was dead why was Rachel being arrested for it?
And Lana just died yesterday... Fuck!
"Yesterday, Rachel went to meet the Andrews, do you think she saw Lana there?" I heard Mark ask and my head snapped towards him.
"Are you trying to say she really killed her?" I glared at him as I asked.
How was he so quick to doubt Lana... And how the hell did he know that Rachel went there yesterday?
"I'm just saying." Mark shurgged. "If Lana was there, she must have said something to provoke her."
"You..." My temper flared and I felt like hitting the idiot driving the car.
How could he just suspect Rachel that quickly also?
"You should be lucky you're driving if not, I would have beaten you up. I don't play with Rachel understood..." I threatened wagging my finger in front of him, but I immediately removed it when he turned the car sharply to the side.
I just glared at him and with a huff I crossed my arms and sat still. He had offered, no insisted that he drove when I told him what happened.
According to him I was too emotional and could get an accident if I drove in this state, and sincerely I couldn't argue because part of me knew he was right.
Mark just giggled before setting the car back on the right course. I was very sure I didn't distract him, but he just wanted to distract me from the pressing issue at hand.
Rachel was innocent, she was innocent.
But how the hell did Lana die in the first place?
"Call Ethan." I said still keeping my eyes on the road.
"How do you expect I do that?" He gestured towards his hands on the steering wheel and I sighed shaking my head.
"Where's your phone?" He eyes briefly went to the small like pocket in the car and I looked there, bringing out his phone.
There's a password... Okay.
What was I even expecting, that it was just free? He was Ethan's Wright's freaking assistant, of course gis phone would have a password.
"What's your password?" I asked after trying three different passwords.
I has tried his name, his full name, and even tried writing password, which was my password but they were all wrong... Well it would surprise me if the last one was right.
I must be the only one in the world who saved hee phone password, as password.
"It's you" He said curtly and my brow immediately went up.
"Me?" I asked skeptically.
"Yeah, your name, Marina with a heart, a blue one."
I looked away from his face when I felt myself blushing again. I tried the what he said and the phone opened.
Why the hell would he save my name as his password? I asked myself, and a small smile appeared on my cheeks but disappeared as soon as I remembered that Rachel was in jail and Lana ' dead ' my face went back to being serious.
I found Ethan's number immediately, he saved him as boss... Cute.
"Here." I placed the phone on his ear as soon as it began ringing.
"If you're calling to tell me that you and Marina have gotten back together because if you are..."
"Rachel has just been arrested!" Mark said and the reality of the situation dawned on me.
Lana was dead... And apparently Rachel was in prison because of that.
Rachel was in fucking prison, alone with no one to comfort her. If there was something Rachel hated more than being lied to and betrayed, it was being falsely accused and being treated unfairly.
This was both.
"I'm heading towards the police station with Marina now, I suggest you check the news."
"Hurry up Mark, we need to get to Rachel faster." I said anxiously taking the phone away from his ear and ending the call.
"Hurry up for fuck sake, if I had drove we would be at police station already." I groaned in frustration.
I felt like mark was driving too slow, way too slow.
"Hey I'm already driving pass the speed limit here, and that's the reason why I refused you driving. Don't worry, we're almost there, but I just have to ask you one question."
"Which question?" I asked absentmindedly.
All I could think of now was how Rachel was coping in that place.
"Are you really sure Rachel didn't do it?"
I froze for a few seconds when I finally understood what he meant. "How could you doubt Rachel so fast?" I asked instead of answering him.
I get it, Rachel was not that much of a nice person... But she couldn't kill a human being... And not cover up her tracks properly at least.
"I'm just saying. Think about it though, did you notice something suspicious about Rachel when she came came back from the Andrews mansion?"
My mind went back to the stain on blood I saw on her clothes.
She said it was an animal blood, but... And animal blood? Lana was an animal, a very wicked one at that, but could Rachel really have killed her?
No... I shook my head refusing to believe what the clues were saying.
Rachel was a smart woman, very smart. If she was the one who killed Lana, that's even if that bitch is dead because wicked people don't die easily... Well if she was the one who killed her, she would have covered her tracks well.
You know do stuff like steal CCTV cameras footage, or bury the body in a ace no one would ever find it, or even leaving the country immediately... If she had done it, no one would know.
It just couldn't be her.
Plus even if it turned out to be her, it could be for self-defense.
Lana probably wanted to kill her first, but she overpowered her and then... Dargh.!
Mark just got me rethinking everything, it was frustrating and annoying.
"Just hurry up." I groaned in frustration.
Whatever it was I would know when I get there. Rachel wouldn't lie to me, not in a situation like this, hopefully.
After almost ten more agonizing and frustrating minutes of driving, the cat finally came to a stop.
"We're he..." Before Mark could complete his words I had already jumped down from the car and was running into the police station.
"Hey, wait for me." I heard Mark yell after me, so I slowed down on my steps but I kept walking ahead.
All the officers in the station immediately paused their duties and stared at me as I walked in, then suddenly they returned their gazes back to their work.
I walked towards one that was at the front desk writing something on a register. "Hi, em...er please I'm..." I looked towards my side to see Mark who had already caught up with me.
Courtesy of his long legs.
Wait, could he be the reason they all stopped staring? Well, he is handsome and... Dargh!
Marina focus!
Why couldn't the words i wanted to say come out of my mouth?
"I'm sorry," I apologized with a small smile.
In a situation like this, my mother's rule most definitely did not apply. " We're looking for a person detained here, she goes by the name, Rachel Andrews."
