Trapped by Him

Chapter 85

Ch. 83 / 398 Feb 22, 2026

In the Sea Moon Pack, Mike glanced at Lucas, who was sitting on the sofa in his office, and said, "You seem to be in a good mood these days."

"Why shouldn't I? I've come across a very interesting prey," Lucas said with a smile.

Mike put the document down, looked at Lucas, and said seriously, "Lucas, stop it. There's nothing funny about it."

"Mike, you are an Alpha. Don't you know that hunting is a very elegant sport?" Lucas said.

"If hunting is indeed so much fun, how come you've kept going after different prey over the years?" Mike frowned.

Lucas raised his index finger and shook it. "The fun of hunting lies in the process. That's what I enjoy. The process is all that matters. Get it, my Alpha?"

Mike instinctively frowned. "I'm not that sick like you."

"I know Melissa was the only one for you."

Suddenly, Lucas found it hard to finish his words. He sensed that Mike had released the Alpha's pressure, which was so suffocating that it made his chest tight. He struggled and said, "Alpha Mike, I'm sorry."

The cold light in Mike's eyes gradually faded along with his powerful Alpha's pressure.

"Don't mention her ever again," Mike said calmly.

"Mike, this won't do you good. You can never let go if you let the past haunt you," Lucas said.

"I don't want to let go," Mike said indifferently. "Enough. Happy hunting."

Mike obviously didn't want to continue the topic with Lucas.

Lucas smiled, glanced out the window, and raised his wrist to check his watch. Then he said, "It's still early. She's not at work yet."

Mike grasped a key point. He asked, "What do you mean she's not at work yet?"

He thought, 'It's office time now. Even if she's not at work, it should be because she leaves work early. What did he mean by saying that she's not at work yet?'

"Oh, that interesting new prey works in a club," Lucas replied nonchalantly.

An idea flashed through Mike's mind, but before he could realize what it was, it vanished.

Mike rubbed his eyebrows. "I find club women not interesting at all."

"No. She is very interesting. Actually, she is the most interesting woman I have ever met. Mike, a good idea has just hit me. I'm not going to the club."

"Are you saying that you are giving up on your new prey?" Mike asked.

"No. I just feel that compared with going to the club to find her, I prefer another location." Lucas seemed to be answering Mike or talking to himself.

Mike was used to it. He knew about Lucas' past. Therefore, there were things that he found hard to talk to Lucas about.

"See you, Mike," Lucas said.

"See you."

As Lucas held the door knob in Mike's office, Mike sighed and said, "Lucas, stop while you still can, or you'll end up hurting both others and yourself."

"What are you talking about? I don't get it," Lucas said.

Mike shook his head. "You know exactly what I am talking about. What if your prey is your mate? Let me ask you this. What are you going to do then?"

"That's impossible." After saying this, Lucas opened the door and walked out of the office.

Gloria returned to her dormitory alone after getting out of Fittro Club.

When she walked to the door, she was startled by the man in the doorway. She said, "Mr. Norman, why are you here?"

"I've been waiting for you for a long time."

"What do you want?" Gloria held the key in her hand, and she did not open the door while Lucas was present. She was very vigilant.

Her wariness lit up Lucas' excitement. He supposed that the feeling of cracking down a heavily guarded prey would be fantastic.

"I'm hungry," Lucas said. "I haven't eaten for a day. I'm starving."

Gloria was a little confused. She said, "Then you should go grab a few bites."

"Yes, you are right. So, here I am," Lucas said.

"Are you saying that the reason why you waited for me here was to let me fix you something to eat after I got back?" Gloria asked.

"Clever girl," Lucas smiled and said. "I won't eat your food for free."

He casually took out a check, wrote down a number, and said, "This is for you."

Gloria saw the number on the check, and she had mixed feelings. She was confused and thought, 'What the heck does Lucas want?'

She had no idea. However, she struggled at the second glance at the number. She heard two voices in her mind.

One was saying to her, "Don't see him again. Don't take his money."

While the other was saying to her, "Take it. You need the money. Aren't you going to get your freedom back?"

"Miss Carter? Miss Carter?"

Lucas looked at the absent-minded woman in front of him in a daze, calling out to her a few times.

Gloria suddenly came back from her trance.

She looked at the check, trembled, and reached out toward the check.

Money was indeed her weakness.

Gloria opened the door of the dormitory and said, "Mr. Norman, please come in. Have a seat. I'll cook something for you."

She put down her things, turned around, and went to the kitchen.

That check, of course, meant a lot to her. It was twenty thousand dollars after all.

For the sake of her freedom, she had to do things that others were not willing to do in exchange for one million dollars. On the contrary, some didn't even blink while spending freely.

Gloria made some macaroni with simple ingredients.

As before, Lucas soon finished the macaroni without saying much.

"Mr. Norman, the macaroni is not worth that much." She looked up slowly. Then she asked earnestly, "Why?"

Lucas wiped the corner of his mouth and said, "You may think so, but I think otherwise. I'm the one who spends the money, and I think it's worth it."

It was the same as saying "Since I'm the one who spends the money, only my opinion matters. Yours, on the contrary, is irrelevant."

"It's getting late, Mr. Lucas. I'll send you off," said Gloria.

Lucas was intrigued. If Gloria asked him to stay, his mood would be ruined. Her attitude made things much more interesting.

He got up and walked towards the door. Just as he was about to leave, with great speed, he pushed the hair on Gloria's forehead away and kissed her scar again.

Gloria glared at him. "Mr. Norman! Didn't I tell you before? Don't kiss my forehead!"
