Trapped by Him

Chapter 80

Ch. 78 / 398 Feb 22, 2026

Lillian had now lost her job at Fittro Club as well as Derrick.

She was now looking for a new job. However, it was almost impossible for her to land a job with generous pay like Fittro Club.

What was more, her voice had become hoarse and unpleasant after she was punished by Patrick and Derrick. All of this added up to her anger and resentment.

Of course, she refused to leave just like that.

"You can't get rid of me," Lillian said as she raised her head.

Gloria nodded. She picked up her phone and called Christine. She said, "Christine, I would like to ask you to pass a message for me to Mr. Hammond. Tell him that I'd like to take back my plea. I no longer want Mr. Hammond to spare Lillian's life. I'm willing to pay any price for that."

Lillian heard Gloria's every word. Immediately, Lillian's face turned pale. She quickly said, "Gloria, no!"

Gloria did not hang up the phone. She glanced at Lillian and said to Christine over the phone, "Christine, wait a moment."

Then Gloria looked at Lillian again and asked slowly, "Now, do you understand what I said earlier?"

Lillian was pale. She looked nervously at the phone in Gloria's hand. She nodded, though she was reluctant.

Gloria said to the phone, "Christine, I'm sorry. About what I just said, actually, I have not decided yet. Mr. Hammond doesn't need to know for the time being."

Gloria spoke slowly, but her tone made it impossible for others to interrupt her. "Lillian, you and I are just colleagues and roommates. Nothing more. I don't owe you anything. Have you ever thought about that? From the beginning till now, I owe you nothing. It's up to me to help you or not."

Lillian was suddenly speechless. She felt a little embarrassed, and she couldn't find any word to refute Gloria.

Gloria then continued, "I owe you nothing. Nothing at all. Do you think I want to plead for you?"

Lillian used to think that Gloria was a stupid pushover. However, she realized that she had made a huge mistake. Gloria was not without a temper, and nor was she stupid.

Lillian had a problem with Gloria at first, and then she was even more jealous of Gloria because of Derrick. If Gloria were Christine or any other outstanding woman, Lillian would admire her instead of being envious.

Between admiration and jealousy was often just a fine line.

Lillian was silent for a second. Then she still said, "That doesn't change the fact that you're a hypocrite. If you didn't want to, why plead for me anyway? You just wanted to show Mr. Hammond how kind you were!"

Gloria didn't bother to explain to Lillian. She said, "Go. Leave me alone."

As she spoke, she closed the door.

"Wait!" The door was forcefully pushed open, and Gloria frowned.

"Fine. Since you said so, I might as well take your word for it, that you pleaded for me in front of Mr. Hammond." Lillian glared at Gloria. Then she said, "Since you begged Mr. Hammond to spare my life, why didn't you beg Mr. Hammond to drop this for good?"

Gloria was slightly surprised at Lillian's question. She was silent for a while before she said, "I don't care if you die of illness. I don't care if you die in a car accident. And I couldn't care less if you offend Mr. Hammond again and get yourself killed. But this time, I am partly related to what happened to you after all, and I don't want to owe someone her life again. No matter who tries to hurt me, even if it's a stranger, as long as the person's life has something to do with me, I will always go and plead with Mr. Hammond."

Gloria looked at Lillian and said calmly, "Lillian, in other words, if I had stayed completely out of the way while you offended Mr. Hammond that day, I promise that I would never plead for you that day. I would never say a word for you even if I don't have to pay any price."

Lillian was pushed out by Gloria. She was still in a daze when the door closed.

Her ears were buzzing. What shocked her the most today was not Gloria's speech about seeing through everything. Instead, it was the extremely cold last sentence that Gloria said.

What kind of person could be so indifferent?

All of a sudden, everything about Gloria flooded back into Lillian's mind. In the blink of an eye, Lillian seemed able to figure out why Gloria could manage to get down on the ground and crawl like a dog. It was because Gloria didn't give a damn about herself at all.

When Lillian left, she was in a trance. She still hated Gloria, because Derrick tortured her for Gloria's sake.

Lillian thought, 'It doesn't matter whether Gloria is pitiful or faking it. The fact remains. She is capable of doing all kinds of despicable things for the sake of money. All the staff in Fittro Club know.

I'm sure Derrick doesn't have any idea about what Gloria has done, and he doesn't know that Gloria is a woman who is willing to throw away her dignity for money.

If Derrick finds out who Gloria really is, he'll come to his senses.'

Lillian made up her mind. She must show Derrick Gloria's true colors.

As she thought so, she walked out of the dormitory. When she reached the stairs, she saw a tall figure.

"Why... Are you still here?" Lillian asked in surprise.

Lucas crossed his arms, leaned against the wall, and looked at Lillian with a smile. He said, "I accidentally left my phone in your coat pocket."

As he spoke, he reached into Lillian's coat pocket.

"Hey! What are you doing? Robbing me?" Before Lillian could finish speaking, Lucas had already taken out a phone from her pocket. Strangely, it wasn't hers.

"You... When... How?" Lillian felt so strange.

"I told you already. I accidentally left it in your pocket," Lucas said.

'Liar!' Lillian thought. She wanted to say the word out loud at first, yet her guts told her that she couldn't afford to offend the man in front of her. She had already offended Patrick. Even the sight of handsome, rich men would make her a bit nervous now.

The phone, of course, would not "accidentally" fall into Lillian's coat pocket. Lucas passed her as he went downstairs, and thanks to his great memory, he recalled that Lillian was the woman who was in Gloria's ward that day. Therefore, he "naturally" pressed a button on his phone and "accidentally" left his phone in Lillian's coat pocket.

"Oh, by the way... Thank you for providing me with first-hand information." In such a way, he got to find out more about his prey.

The recording interface was still displayed on the screen of his phone.
