"Well, since you love your work so much, then work hard. Within a month, transfer a million dollars to my card and I will let you go. Otherwise, it will be pointless no matter where you run to." Patrick said to Gloria with a cold face.
"Mr. Hammond, you are right. I still owe you a million dollars. You ordered me to pay it back within a month." Gloria did not refute him. She continued, "Well then, Mr. Hammond, I'll go to work now."
Patrick was furious, and his eyes were even colder. He stared at the woman in front of him. She wanted to pay back the debt as soon as possible and wanted to leave him so badly.
Why?
For that Mike?
All sorts of emotions emerged; anger, jealousy, and heartache.
Patrick didn't notice the change in his emotions. He just knew that Gloria had made him angry.
"She's too sick to continue working." Leo's voice sounded in Patrick's mind.
"I know," said Patrick.
After watching Gloria leave the ward, Patrick took out his phone and called Christine. "That damn girl is about to go to work. Leonard has sleeping pills. When she arrives, trick her into taking it."
"Mr. Hammond, who are you talking about?" Christine was baffled.
"Gloria!"
Why was Patrick so angry? Did Gloria make him mad again?
"It's not good for her to take sleeping pills for no reason, is it?" Christine said softly.
"What about her going to work while having a fever?" Patrick roared.
"I see. When Gloria comes, I will mix sleeping pills with the warm water and ask her to drink it."
Christine understood that Gloria was a money-grubber.
"By the way, don't arrange any tasks for her," Patrick said.
He wouldn't let Gloria repay the debt so soon and get away!
"I know. But she's working in the Public Relations Department. I can't just let her stay idle. People will talk and will speak ill of me after a while."
"Fire those people who gossip. Do you need me to teach you how?" Patrick said coldly.
Christine was speechless. Patrick was the boss of the club and had the right to make any decisions.
His words were the rules of the club.
Christine, as the general manager, had to obey him.
After hanging up, Christine immediately left the office. She walked toward the entrance of the club.
Gloria saw Christine right after she got out of the car and entered the club.
"Gloria, come to my office," Christine said.
Gloria followed Christine silently into her office.
"Christine, what is it? Do you have a task for me?"
Christine's hand trembled as she was reaching for a cup. She was afraid of this sentence from Gloria. It almost became her pet phrase.
"Gloria, have a seat." Christine went to get water for Gloria. She put half a sleeping pill into the cup, poured some warm water, and then stirred it. Only when the sleeping pill had almost melted did she add cold water.
"Here, some water." Christine handed the glass over.
"Thank you, Christine." After Gloria woke up from the hospital, she often felt thirsty. The water from Christine came in time. As Gloria drank it, she said, "I've been thirsty. Christine, you are so kind to me."
Christine stood away and smiled stiltedly. She thought, 'Gloria, don't be so naive. Alpha Patrick wanted me to drug you. I mean no harm to you.'
With a glance, Christine saw that Gloria had drunk up the water. "Christine, can I have some more?"
"Sure!" Christine quickly got Gloria another cup of water.
Gloria drank two cups of water in a row before she felt that her throat was no longer as dry as before.
"Christine, do you have tasks for me?"
"Not yet," Christine said. She cursed in her heart, 'Even if I have things for you to do, I won't dare to let you do it. Alpha Patrick told me not to assign you any job.'
No matter how much Christine felt sorry for Gloria, she did not dare to disobey Patrick's order.
She followed Patrick and became who she was today. She knew that Patrick was ruthless and capable.
"Christine, why do I feel sleepy?" Gloria said. Her voice became weak.
"Because you're sick. You should see a doctor or take a rest at home." Christine touched Gloria's forehead and said, "Coming here won't do you any good. I don't have work for you for the time being. It's a waste of time. How about taking a nap here?"
"But Mr. Hammond said that I have to pay back a million dollars in a month. Christine, I'll go wash my face."
Gloria was already muddle-headed when she said so, but she wouldn't give up.
Christine realized that Patrick wanted her to return a million dollars within a month.
No wonder he told her not to assign any job to Gloria.
Gloria couldn't do that. Even with the money she had earned, she couldn't pay a million within one month.
Patrick asked Gloria to complete an impossible mission. What did he mean? It meant that he had no intention of letting Gloria succeed.
Gloria stood up and swayed. She sat down again. She felt groggy, and she rested her head on the table.
Christine helped Gloria to lie on the sofa. She took out a blanket from the closet. Usually, when Christine was tired, she would take a nap on the sofa.
Christine bent down and tucked Gloria in.
About 15 minutes later, the office door was pushed open. Christine quickly stood up. "Mr. Hammond, Mr. Mason."
"Sean, put Gloria on a drip," Patrick said.
