In despair, Gloria closed her eyes and unclenched her fists.
She looked at Audrey's face again and said word by word, "Ms. Hall, are you sure if I do what you say this time, you'll give me all the copies and promise not to tell anyone?"
Audrey was about to continue mocking Gloria. She wanted to tell Gloria that she didn't get to call the shots and could only do as she was told. Yet Gloria opened her mouth again.
"Ms. Hall, everyone has secrets. If you fool me again this time, I can assure you that I will kill you!" Gloria's gaze turned cold as she stared at Audrey without blinking.
Audrey gasped. She could hardly take her eyes off that humble woman's face, even for a second!
Audrey's heart beat rapidly, and she was filled with terror.
She thought, 'This bitch, Gloria, she means it!'
Audrey got her message from Gloria's unyielding gaze.
Audrey was frightened by Gloria's glare and took a step back. Then she felt ashamed of herself and said with a straight face, "Who the heck do you think you are? Gloria, I'm not that shameless like you. I've told you already. If you please me and my friends, I will give you what you want."
Audrey had shamelessly gone back on her word, and now she looked so righteous. However, Gloria didn't mock her.
A trace of mockery flashed through Gloria's eyes.
She only nodded silently, and then she said, "Alright then, Ms. Hall. You'd better keep your word."
Gloria looked up again, with an institutionalized smile on her unattractive face, and said to the middle-aged man on the couch, "Sir, I'll do anything. But I don't drink or sell my body."
There were gasps of shock all around her. No one believed that the once proud Miss Carter would say such a thing.
Audrey found the middle-aged man out of nowhere. He had never seen anything like it and was stunned.
He blurted out the truth, "Ms. Hall, you asked me to take part in the show. So, where is the cameraman?"
What just happened was more than the middle-aged man could handle.
He looked at Audrey with a troubled expression and said, "Ms. Hall, you are threatening her."
Audrey suddenly shouted, "Shut up! I'm the one paying you, and that means you have to listen to me. Don't you want the money?"
The performance fee was equal to his salary for a month. At the thought of that, the man who was recruited to be an extra struggled deep down.
Gloria was well aware that it was a trap targeting her.
She realized that all they wanted was to humiliate and embarrass her. A bitter smile appeared at the corners of her mouth and then disappeared instantly. She looked up again, with the smile she had practiced so many times in the mirror, and said, "Have you decided, Sir? What can I do for you?"
The middle-aged man hesitated for a moment and did not know what to do. Suddenly, an idea struck him, and he blurted out, "I've got sore feet. Why don't you give me a massage?"
Instantly, everyone quieted down. They were staring at Gloria amusingly, waiting for her next move.
Even with her head down, Gloria could still sense their eager eyes. She kept the standardized smile on her face and, in front of everyone's eyes, got down on one knee, took off the man's shoes, and put them on her knees.
Everyone gasped with surprise.
"Gosh! I can't believe my eyes!"
"What a cheap woman!"
"So, this is her true color. I was wondering why Mr. Hammond ignored her back then. He knew who she really was already."
"Goof for Mr. Hammond that he wasn't tricked by this cheap woman and didn't choose to be with her. He was lucky."
Gloria felt a dull pain in her heart. She thought, 'Does Patrick know who I really am?'
She wanted to laugh, but she found that she simply couldn't.
Meanwhile, Derrick's expression changed when he received a strange text, and he drove over without hesitation.
He put his work aside and left the office, having no time to get changed.
Right now, Derrick looked a little sloppy. It would not have been obvious at other times, but today, he simply stood out from the rest of the well-dressed crowd at this luxurious feast.
He left his office in a hurry and didn't even have time to put on his tie, which was hanging loosely around his neck. Someone saw him and said, "Mr. Fisher, what a surprise to see you here. What brings you here?"
At the same time, Derrick kept looking for that woman at the banquet.
"Mr. Fisher, are you looking for someone?" Harry came to Derrick as he saw him.
Derrick was stunned for a second. Then he quickly grabbed Harry's arm and said, "Yes. Have you seen..."
He suddenly stopped and realized that no one here knew Gloria.
"Forget it."
Derrick was about to leave.
Harry grabbed Derrick from behind and said, "Wait, Mr. Fisher. If you are looking for someone who isn't here right now, there's a place you should go."
"Where?"
"At the end of the second floor," Harry said. "I'll take you there."
Derrick said, "Thank you."
Harry led Derrick to the second floor while thinking, 'Like the Black Thorn Pack, Derrick's Blood Moon Pack is also a top-raking pack in Gabbs. Helping him find someone is easy for me. By helping him, I get to be connected with him, which will do me good.'
"See? Just like I said. If you are looking for someone, here is the place you should go. Mr. Fisher, do you see that? Even the door is open," said Harry.
Derrick didn't say anything. He hurried to the room at the end of the corridor.
The door was slightly open. Derrick peeped through it, and then his eyes widened instantly.
