Torn Between my Alpha Mates

Chapter 70: Heartwarming Realizations Part 1

Ch. 70 / 177 Dec 10, 2025

Zoya’s P.O.V

I woke up groggily, feeling almost completely unaware of my surroundings.

As I looked at the window in my bedroom, it was to find that the sun was up and the birds were chirping around merrily right outside, their sweet songs making a small smile appear on my lips.

The last thing I remembered was being in Ezra’s arms and feeling so content and happy. Sometime later in the evening, I must have fallen asleep, surrounded by his warm embrace. I didn’t even notice when it happened, all I knew was that I no longer felt so alone, so hopeless.

I remember dreaming about werewolves and other supernatural creatures. It was all a haze, from one scene to the next. I saw myself standing in the middle of a crowded street, but instead of people, they were all supernatural creatures.

Vampires with fans dripping blood. Creatures with red eyes and green and blue skin and scales and wings. It had felt incredibly real, as if I wasn’t dreaming at all. I thought I would be scared of the creatures, scared that they would harm me. But none of them even seemed to care.

They simply ignored me and went about their day like I wasn’t even there.

And maybe…that was how it was after all. Just like Silas had said. The supernatural existed right beside us, without bothering us in our day to day lives. They just went about minding their own business and not even bothering with us humans.

However, the thoughts about Silas also made me feel a little weary. I couldn’t help the feeling of guilt that I felt when I remembered him now. Maybe it was my intuition as a doctor but I was worried about him as well, no matter what crimes he had or hadn't committed.

Where was he? Had be found somewhere to stay? Or was he roaming the streets right now, looking for somewhere to go? The last I remembered, he didn’t have anything with him, no money and only the clothes he had been wearing.

I knew he was a werewolf and all, but he still needed to survive. And from the way I had seen him eat and perform other chores like a normal human being; I highly doubted he was surviving on raw bunnies as food supplements.

All these thoughts and worries made the last vestiges of sleep flee from my mind almost immediately. The remnants of fatigue clung to my body, weighed down by the heaviness of the previous day and my restless rest.

But then I took in a deep breath and sighed in delight. The air was infused with a delightful medley of scents, wafting from the direction of the kitchen.

What was that? Who was cooking? Was it Ezra?

Curiosity mingled with the remnants of drowsiness, urging me to investigate the source of these enticing aromas.

With cautious steps, I made my way into the tiny kitchen, and the scenery that greeted me wasn’t something that I had expected to find this early in the morning.

Ezra stood by the stove, tending to a pot of simmering porridge. The gentle sizzle and the comforting warmth that emanated from the stove made my stomach grumble in hunger almost immediately and I remembered belatedly that I hadn't had any dinner last night.

I sighed happily, a warm feeling settling in the pit of my stomach. I couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude welling up within me, touched by his unwavering presence and the lengths he had gone to ensure my well-being.

No one had ever done these things for me before.

I approached him, a blend of awe and appreciation adorning my expression. "Ezra, have you been here the entire time?" I asked, a mix of surprise and gratitude filling my voice.

“Good morning.” A gentle smile graced his lips as he turned to face me, his eyes reflecting a blend of warmth and sincerity.

"I did step out briefly to gather the necessary ingredients and to check on your car," he explained. "I wanted to make sure you had everything you needed while you healed. And I wanted to make you something warm for breakfast…something other than the dozen cup-noodles in your cabinet, so I prepared you some porridge. It’s light and it’s hearty. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it."

A surge of emotion welled up within me, threatened to spill over the brim of my being. His thoughtfulness extended beyond merely nursing my physical well-being. I noticed my phone lying on the countertop, a small but significant gesture that spoke volumes about his attentiveness.
