Garrett looked at her worried and uneasy expression, feeling heartbroken. How could she think such a thing of her? Garrett knew what type of woman she was when he first met her. He knew she wouldn't betray him.
He cupped her chin gently and said softly, "I believe you. I know you're not that kind of person."
Hearing this, Lily's heart settled down in an instant. The one sentence he said, amounts to millions of sweet words, which warmed her heart and gave her security. Lily leaned forward to kiss him on his cheek. Not wanting to be outdid, Garrett swiftly kissed her on the lips. Nothing too forceful but it still left her breathless.
"What about Daniel? What are you going to do to him?" Lily asked.
"Don't worry, he will be punished for what he did," Garrett promised.
"No, don't make a big deal of it. After all, you are still a family. And I know your relationship with your sister is strained. I don't want you going to war over me. If you do something to your nephew, your sister won't let it go," Lily explained.
"Are you worried about me?" Garrett asked. He was somewhat surprised. He didn't ever think that she would be willing to bear the humiliation lest he would revenge her and be hurt by others. This silly girl was truly being nice to him!
"Of course! Although I suffered a bit of grievance, you can see I'm not hurt. I don't want you to fight for me and bring yourself unnecessary trouble. I am not worth that!" Lily answered. She held his hand tightly for fear that he might do something impulsive.
"You are definitely worth the trouble Lily," Garrett said firmly.
Garrett had mixed feelings. He was suddenly touched when looking into her sincere and misty eyes. Lily wanted to shield him from tough things with her tiny body. How blessed he was for the Moon Goddess to give her such a wonderful she-wolf! He took her into his arms with a huge amount of strength, which made her out of breath.
"What are you doing?" Lily asked.
"Let me hold you for a moment," He said in a husky voice. His words let her heart soft, and she just kept unmoved and let him hold her.
Her small hands rubbed his back, whispering, "Listen to me, Okay? Don't do anything impulsive for me. You've done enough for me. You have to stay safe since you're going to protect me for the rest of my life."
"Ok, I'll listen to you." Lily was relieved to hear this.
"Now, let's get you fed. I know you must be starving as you did not eat dinner last night," Garrett said while stroking her hair lovingly.
After breakfast, Lily took her medicine and Garrett held her until she fell asleep. He sat at the window watching her for a long time until his secretary came and told him that Daniel had been caught at one of the casinos gambling and drinking again. Garrett promised that he wouldn't go after Daniel, but that didn't mean he couldn't send people after him.
'It's time to make sure the boy remembers to never touch what isn't his,' Berric growled within him.
'We will not kill him. Lily is right. He is family,' Garrett said.
'No, but after we're done, he won't forget this lesson,' Berric agreed.
He went to the warehouse and saw Daniel was tied to a pillar by a multifarious tie. His nose was swollen and his face was blue, and one of his back teeth was knocked out. This wasn't his doing. He never ordered his people to harm him.
"What happened to him?" Garrett demanded. "I said to not harm him."
"This was not our doing. His father beat him for what he did to Luna Lily. It seems that Luna Bethany took what he did seriously," Adam explained. "He was drinking to counteract the pain he was feeling."
Garrett wanted to vent his anger on Daniel, but after seeing him, he felt almost sorry for him. His sister, Bethany, was quite ruthless when it came to discipline. Until he became stronger and bigger than her, Garrett had to deal with Bethany lashing out constantly.
Seeing Garrett approaching him, Daniel trembled with fear, and screamed, "Stop! Uncle, I know I was wrong, but I promise I will never do that again, please don't hit me!"
His begging for mercy didn't work at all. Garrett slapped him across the face and said, "Stop acting like a pup and be a man."
Garrett let Adam untie the rope and so Daniel fell to the ground. He looked at the door and struggled to climb over, trying to escape, but Garrett stepped on the palm of his hand.
"You beat her with your left hand?" Garrett said and gripped his hand. With a crunch, he crushed his hand within his. Daniel burst into a sharp cry.
"Daniel, look at me," Garrett said, but Daniel hung his head while crying. Garrett snatched him up his shirt collar forcing Daniel to look at him. "Look at me dammit!"
"You will never strike a she-wolf again. Do you hear me? You are a Hunter no matter if you took the name of my sister's mate or not. Hunters do not conduct themselves in this manner. You disrespect me or our family again and I'll do more than break your hand," Garrett warned him. "Be glad that we are not fully mated or I would not be able to keep myself from ripping your throat out."
